Re: Nintendo Set To License All IP to Mobile Publisher DeNA

On a more serious note:

I feared for this day and I hope this doesn't mean what everyone think it means. Hopefully it's just a small step in a new direction and won't affect Nintendo in the long run.

What I really can't figure out is why they use time on this, when they could be making games for those who bought their consoles.

@Quorthon If you are a fan of the Gamepad or not really boils down to personal opinion. It might not been used to it's fullest extent, but I partially blame 3rd party publishers for this. There are tons of great games on other consoles I would preferred to have on Wii U just because of the Gamepad.

It was not revolutionary like the Wiimote and therefore it wasn't enough to back up the inferior hardware this generation. Because of this we don't see as many games for Nintendo as before. But I know many like the Gamepad regardless and the games coming to the console as well.

I would not call the Gamepad a pointless gimmick.
Even though Wind Waker could been played with ProController, I enjoyed the freedom the Gamepad gave me.
Was it necessary? No.
But I still enjoyed using the Gamepad.

It's not about hardware, not even software.
Nintendo needs to modernize the eShop, Nintendo ID and unify the OS.
The games are already there and it's plenty of hardware for everyone.

Speaking for myself I'm really happy about owning a Wii U. I enjoy the retail games, but to be honest I own more VC games then retail. For the next gen Nintendo console, they better shape up and come to grips with the times.
If not, my money will go to a new PC.

With that being said, I don't want Nintendo to stop innovating and come with new fun ideas. They need to be different, if not I don't see a reason to choose console over a computer. If hardware is outdated, I just buy new hardware. When buying a gaming console I need something a PC can't give me.

Also give up the region lock allready...

@Quorthon I remember back in middle school people called me childish for liking Pokemon. Nintendo has always had the "kids" image.

Just from the little I got from the picture, the guy writing about the 3DS sounds like an complete idiot. If he looks at gaming consoles as toys for children he shouldn't open his mouth to talk about gaming in the first place.

On the other hand it would be interesting to see what he would write about i.e. PSVita. I would guess he wouldn't describe it as a toy for children, but it wouldn't surprise me if he did. Either way he comes of as pretty ignorant and lack knowledge on the subject at hand.

I would like to add that he doesn't just offend me as a Nintendo-fan, but as a gamer in general.

@64supermario
First of all: You don't know a thing about me.
Second: I do know what it takes to edit videos.
Third: I have nothing against LPers making money.

You are completely missing the point. Why do you play games? It's because it's FUN! Isn't that why everyone started playing? If LPers stop playing because they don't get money, they are just as greedy as Nintendo. Too bad they can't buy good character with those youtube money.

Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'

Those who enjoy gaming and is still not a sellout, will continue to do what they love, regardless of what money they get. THOSE are who I want to see.

@64supermario
Who are you to say those are "flaws with the system"? This can very well be a step in a direction more will follow.
It's really strange to see someone defend egocentric, greedy, immature kids whining about not making money on somebody else's work.

@64supermario

Nobody cares how LPers make their living.
Personally I don't like LPers like those this article is about. But I don't mind how they make money of gaming.
The point is, Nintendo makes the calls. Do you think they don't know what they are doing? You think they don't know what LPers means for the gaming community? Because they do.
This isn't about Nintendo making money. This is something deeper.
If you think a company with market value of over 85 billion $ cares about some Youtube money, you really are stupid.
Go watch a 14 year old scream in the mic while playing minecraft.

@ErnisDy

Again, reviewing as a serious news site is completely different from putting hour long footage of gameplay on youtube. By your logic massmedia as we know it wouldn't be the same. Sharing some of the profit is not the same as paying Nintendo. It's not like they have to pay from their own pocket to upload a video...
Those youtube celebs are just some spoiled brats, and they deserve a reality check.

Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'

@Quorthon
Clearly your brain is malfunctioning from playing too much video games. Nintendo decides what license agreement customers must follow.
Btw you can't compare your silly game making hobby, with Nintendo's multibillionaire company. You sir, are of course desperate for attention from other gamers, so of course you would love to have famous youtubers play your game.
Call me what you like. I wouldn't trade place with PewDiePie for a billion dollars.

Re: YouTube Stars Aren't Happy With Nintendo's Revenue-Sharing 'Creators Program'

PaperMario64

It's sad to see how these "youtubers" just is in it for the money. When I upload videos of gameplay, I do it because I enjoy it, and hope others will as well. If you choose to play certain games because they are most profitable, you are doing it for the wrong reason. Nintendo has every right to deny "free" advertisment if they want. I don't see how that monkey would be good advertising anyway, except for a new donkey kong jr charecter
