Oh, I didn't even know God Eater 2 was released already. Hopefully it'll come here soon so I don't have to import it. Let's hope the Wii U will get that huge sales boost everyone's been hoping for next week. Though they need to make some major changes to the account system (which may not be THE biggest issue with the console, but it is MY biggest issue with it). I'm aware of some lost sales because of it.
@Hunter-D And that, of course, but what I meant is that that combination -alone- is going to make the 2DS sell well. I mean, people know about the 3DS's great library of games, now they can play them for far less than just buying an XL or whatnot. I'd probably buy a 2DS if I didn't own a 3DS already, just cause of the price
I may be in a minority, but I think this actually looks good. Eh, in any case, this was actually a very smart move by big N.
Wow. Seriously, I was looking forward to playing offline co-op with my brothers or friends. Seems like I'll have to buy this game on another platform then.
@GamerJunkie Well, yeah, I understand now, but when did I say that I only have a Wii U? I've mostly played on my recently bought PS3 the last month, and I also own a 360 alongside the 3DS and Vita. I -could-, however play games on PC a year ago, but then my laptop betrayed me and decided that it doesn't want to run the games anymore. It likes overheating so much so I mainly use it for surfing and school. (Should get a desktop for gaming but don't have the money/interest atm). I have ZombiU and AC3 on the Wii U because I like the system, but that doesn't mean that I have no chance of playing games like Far Cry 3, which never came to it. I was actually playing it on the PS3 when I got an email notification of someone called "GamerJunkie" replying to my comment on Nintendolife. Why'd you think that I only own a Wii U?
@element187 I agree with you on most things you said, but somehow I still can't see the Wii U selling more than the Xbox One. The biggest difference is the games. Xbox One has games. Not games that I care for, but games that the average consumer wants, and that's why these games sell consoles. Sadly, the Wii U doesn't have too many of these games. Also, because of the Xbox brand being so huge in the US and UK, it takes more than just bad PR to make it flop totally, at least in these two countries. I kinda hope I'm wrong, because I love my Wii U and want it to succeed. But it could have been so much more than what is currently is.
@element187 My PC has problems running very simple games, so I doubt Watch_Dogs would look good, or even run on it at all. So yeah, I'll be sticking on consoles. Thanks for the heads up, though.
@CAM290 That's why I said "these days". The Xbox 360 outsold the Wii in the UK a while ago in total sales, and the Wii is not selling as much anymore as the other current gen consoles. Just look it up. And I was comparing Wii U's sales with the two unreleased consoles. People are being sceptical with the Wii U because they know that the PS4 and Xbox One will be more powerful. Not just consumers, but developers also. That's why we have a hard time finding good third party games on the Wii U right now, because they "can't run" (or won't sell) on the Wii U. We both know this and I think Nintendo is aware of it too. I don't want to tell you that the Wii U is going to fail, because it's not, but I really don't think it will sell as good as the other next gen consoles. These days it's the power that decides which console is going to sell best.
I just looked up what you said of the original Xbox. Seems like I was wrong. At least the games looked way better than the PS2 versions, I remember 007: Nightfire being much more detailed and even having support for more multiplayer bots in the Gamecube version of it.
I still stand behind my words in the first statement and do think that the Wii U is going to be the "next generation Gamecube". It won't have many games on it but there will be some really awesome must-own titles.
Personally, I think Nintendo's next console will graphically be pretty much on par with the competitor's ones (i.e. PS5 & Xbox Two(?)). These days it's the power that determines the success of a console and I'm sure Nintendo knows that by now. The Wii U won't sell like the Wii, not even close, but I don't think it will flop either. Wii U may turn out to be another Gamecube (ironically the GC was the most powerful console that gen), it will have the least sales of the three main consoles but there will also be some really awesome must-own titles for it.
@JQuest Everything you said, I can see it happening. Heh, my faith in Nintendo has been restored again. What I'm really waiting for now is the new Zelda, I really want to know what kind of art style it's going to have. New IPs would do no harm either... thankfully Mr. Miyamoto is working on that. Pfft, thanks to you I can't wait for 2014 to arrive!
@JQuest Argh, didn't even think of the off TV functionality! Well, I may just buy both of them at some point, it's not like it would be the first time for me buying the same game twice. You see, I own two copies of Mass Effect, three copies of ME2, and three copies of ME3 (one of them is the N7 Collector's Edition). Haha, I really should get Mass Effect Trilogy for the PS3, then I'd own them all on all platforms they've been made on!
And so I won't go completely off topic: With some big games being released this holiday, it's going to look good for Nintendo. Let's just hope that the two big systems being released then won't eat too much of Wii U's sales. Hopefully 3rd parties start seeing the potential of the Wii U and give us some games.
I don't get the hype for Angry Birds. I don't get the hate on Angry Birds. I also don't get why someone would pay this much for Angry Birds.
Anyway, as many others have said, this would be perfect for an eShop release. That is, just as long as the price tag would be about 1/10 of what it is now.
@JQuest I was thinking of pretty much the same thing. Rayman Legends alone would have boosted both the sales of Wii U consoles and naturally also sales of their games, since, you know, Rayman Legends is obviously one of their games. But if it's true that they were disappointed with the sales of ZombiU, they probably would've been disappointed with Rayman's sales too. No wonder they decided to go multi-plat with it then.
I'm still not sure if I want to get Watch Dogs for Wii U or PS4. I want to support Nintendo (and show Ubisoft it's a good thing to make games on the Wii U) but I also want to experience the game as it's meant to be played. Not saying that there would be big variations with the gameplay, but those awesome graphics are taking control of me...
Ouch, this is a hard one! Thanks to the account being locked to the console it's not easy for me to start buying digital games without worrying about what will happen in the future if/when I have to use my Nintendo Network account on another console. In a few years I'll have to think about moving away from home because of school (don't know where I'll continue my studies yet) and I know the console will stay here. That would mean that I'd have to buy a Wii U for myself. But can I use the same account on it? No, at least not yet. The games would be locked on the other console, unless Nintendo does something about it. It feels bad to let a good deal like this go but for me it will be better in the long run to buy the physical copies of them.
Hm, I don't think I'll be getting this... I mean, I could just import this from US if I want, but on the other hand it's good to support Ghostlight, since they've done so much good for us European gamers. I'll have to consider this.
@DarkToonLink I actually didn't know that it was released in Australia. Thought they had problems publishing it in all PAL territories. Well, this is just good new to me! Totally considering importing it now! Too bad the games are so pricey in Australia... Anyway, region locking is still one of the dumbest things Nintendo has done to the Wii U.
Peter Vesterbacka (the CMO of Rovio) was once at our school talking about how important it is to learn, be interested in school and whatnot. Out of the many things he said, this one thing got somehow stuck in my head. He told us that there was a Swedish skier that mentioned Angry Birds in an interview, and this resulted to the game getting more and more known across Europe, and soon after that the rest of the world. So yeah, the success of a game has pretty much to do about luck too.
In a few months I'll start learning Japanese and then I'll know everything Mr. Iwata says! > But then reality hits me and I understand that it's not that easy. Oh well.
But I gotta say, I love Capcom's games. The company itself is just a little... greedy.

Re: Say Hello To The Nintendo 2DS - A 3DS without 3D
Why this will sell: 1) It has the name Nintendo on it and 2) It's quite cheap.
That combination is what is going to make this thing sell.

Nice, this is actually a really good accomplishment! Hopefully the Wii U will continue to sell here in the West too.

Nintendo should just stop with region locking. Like, right now. It's hurting them more than what they might think.
