Definitely the best of its genre. The only 16-bit game I remember having real atmosphere. Remarkable. Truly a masterpiece (except for the wall jumping) that completely holds up to this day. And this is not nostalgia talking as I didn't play it until many years later.
@ParSnake These 6-button pads work better for me because I use 3 fingers on the buttons not just a thumb. Index, middle, and ring fingers that is. But most people would never do it this way I know! But it works for me if I rest the right side of the pad on my knee.
Also I have one of these pads for my SNES and they are good but the A Switch is too close to the Y button. I keep bumping it when I press Y for light punch if SF2.
I think that's not an XL. It has coloured buttons. It even says New 3DS on the screen. Come on Nintendo Life. Proofread. Maybe I need to be more stable...
Hopefully he is hinting that there will be more stock.
I still absolutely cannot believe they didn't just make the NES Mini again this year. Instead of the SNES Mini. I want the SNES too, but I think it was a bad choice. Make more NES Mini so everyone that wants one can buy one, then do the SNES Mini next year.
(I have a NES Mini but still don't understand Nintendo's logic here.)
Played all of the LoE games a few years ago on iPhone. They were quite playable without physical buttons which was a nice surprise. I always wanted to play them with real buttons.... but I don't feel the need to buy them again. Probably because I already have a backlog just with Switch games! A nice problem to have.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE It's not just your opinion. As far as I'm concerned it's fact. The EU version is far far inferior. That US cover is much more suitable. I'm just glad us Aussies got that one too!
@able_to_think I've got one too. Wasn't hard to do and the result is amazing. Best screen, best form factor and takes AA batteries so can use it in years to come.
I saw this mod several years ago. This is nothing new. I haven't watched the video... but the mod I saw put the screen in sideways. But the case could be closed.
@artofmana 3D is a selling point for me too! We're in the minority I think. But I really enjoy it, even if not very game needs it it can really add to the experience when done well.
Of course they are playing up the portable FIFA aspect - the Switch version can't compete with the other home console versions. Therefore they have to focus on the portable nature of this, otherwise why would anyone buy it?
I don't play any EA games but I think they've done everything they can to give the Switch the best FIFA they can. It's not as powerful as a PS4 so it can't have the same version. Not possible.
If it sells well, future Switch versions, although not looking quite as good, will get the same features.
I've got a few Game & Watches. Were great in the day and are interesting now. Probably like Donkey Kong the best of the ones I have played. As a kid I got 901 on 1 man for a total of 1,266. It's weird the things you remember...
Sometimes if you stand on an incline on a mountain or whatever Link's legs get jiggly wit it. Kinda looks like dancing. Anybody else seen that? That's the closest to a bug I've seen.
@PlywoodStick You're probably right about the dock. But that just adds to the price that a lot of people are complaining about already. Not me I think the Switch is good value.
The Wii should've played DVDs and the WiiU Blurays though!
Wow some of the staff comments are crazy. No DVD player? If it could fit a disc in it it wouldn't be a portable. You guys are already saying it's too big to fit in a pocket. Geez. Joycons too small? They can't be any bigger unless the Switch itself is.
Doesn't have this or that yet? What other console had EVERYTHING day 1? Quit your whingeing NL. You are being too critical in an effort to not appear biased. This is a Nintendo site, you are allowed to be biased.
As far as my experience goes I've had no wifi issues, no disconnecting joycons, no scratches. It's been perfect.
One thing I love that I didn't expect was when I was playing BotW and the power went out. The Switch reverted to portable mode and kept going as it was in the dock. Power came back and I kept playing on the TV. Any other console and I would have lost progress. And had to wait for it to boot back up. I nice bonus due to its design.
I love my Switch. And the Pro Controller is the best thing ever.
@Spiders I thought when the Joycons were connected to the Switch they had an electrical connection. When in airport mode (radios off) the Joycons still work when attached.
I'm not ready for the 3DS to die, it's so unique and I love the 3D effect. On the other hand the sooner they put all their development eggs in the Switch basket the better.
These strong preorders are indicative of the fact that people understand the Switch concept. I'm very excited to get my hands on one. I love my WiiU but waited 2 years to get one. By then there were just too many games I didn't want to miss out on so I had to buy one. But with the Switch I simply can't wait. I want to show it off to people - something I would never do with the WiiU...
@Biffclaven I have a NES30 Pro and it feels fantastic. I agree that the 1st party controllers are the best and I won't use any others, but 8Bitdo make controllers that are almost as good as Nintendo's own. Perhaps the buttons are slightly clickier though. Just wish I had ever seen a NES Mini on a shop's shelf...
@thesilverbrick Slightly. But it certainly is exciting. Looks very interesting and I can imagine the chaos going on between the 2 people playing it! Count me in for a purchase.

Re: Super Mario Odyssey Director Explains Why the Life Counter Has Been Dropped
Good riddance I say. Lives haven't been necessary since the NES Mario games anyway. I will miss the 1-Up mushroom though.
Re: Feature: Fulfilling A Lifelong Dream Of Attending The Tokyo Game Show
I loved the writing style of this piece. Made it interesting to read.

Well given the headline Nintendo Life gave it anyway. Click bait beats reasoned journalism I guess.

Re: Review: Death Squared (Switch eShop)
"We've seen various games already that are arguably enhanced by that ability to intuitively pick up and play with others."
How is that even remotely arguable? It's a straight up win!
(What isn't arguable is that arguably is NL's favorite word...)
But yes I will get this game.
