Re: Talking Point: Six Months Since Launch, How Would You Rate Switch 2?

Orochilocka

Generally expecting a little more horsepower. Wish all games got an auto boost. There isn’t a use case for buying something on Switch 2 vs PS5 except portability. And not enough first-party games to make it a justifiable standalone buy. Saying that, I am loving TOTK and Grand Bazaar. Cyberpunk I thought I’d cloud save and playthrough the DLC on Switch exclusively but it’s just not there as an experience vs PS5. Let’s see what the next 6 months bring, so probably a 7.5-8/10 for me.

Serious question; have any of the editorial staff played through Pillars of Eternity on Switch? If so, it would not be on this list. It is unplayable. And not in a twee, ‘oh the frame rate is bugged’ way, it is literally a broken mess where you can’t even play it after a certain amount of time.

It’s an embarrassment and I entered a lengthy email exchange with the publisher Versus Evil and they could not care less. Please do not promote this shameful port.

@JohnnyMind notice every week you mention whether you’re seeing your friends or not. Nothing but love brother, but we don’t mind if you’re seeing your friends or not. Your list is always comprehensive and engaging, you don’t have to feel the need to let us internet strangers know if you’re hanging with buds or not. Your list is enough — and we appreciate you for that.

@greengecko007 how is Dragon Quest niche? It’s internationally recognised and gigantic in Japan. To the point there was a meme of DQ day. Where the work force would take days off new release days to a massive extent.

Unless you mean the Treasures franchise; in which case; still not niche. It’s the first of its kind.

Played 10 hours now, AMA! My opinion; this game and the way it goes about exploration reminds a little of Atelier Ryza, gather things in any order, bring them back, level up. It’s chill but you can go anywhere until you enemies become too high level, then just go to another area. There are dozens of mechanics at play, monster recruiting, treasure hunting, side quests, daily quests, railway quests. I’ll agree with the review that said over whelming but in a great way. The question is more; right what do I want to do now? Then, it’s crippling. So far; it’s a 9/10 for me - and I’ve played builders 2, heroes 2, DQ11, 8, 5 just FYI.

Was looking for reviews of this game on Switch and came across this comment thread. My word, how depressing. Climate change ISN’T political. And if you think it is, you’re part of the problem. Climate change may have been a topic of debate in political parties but that doesn’t make it a political matter. Believe it or not, it’s a scientific matter - and there’s no amount of words the tango-coloured former US President can say to change that. Yikes, we all need a good shake.

@HeeHo yep, you guessed it - editor of major news sites for around two decades now. You’re not the first random person on the internet who doesn’t know the trade, or understand what qualifies for news - and certainly won’t be the last. But don’t claim you understand what is and isn’t news the same way I wouldn’t claim to a carpenter what is and isn’t decent woodwork. You have no idea what you’re talking about.

@HeeHo what? It’s news. There’s a duty to report it - this is a video games news site. Your comments are like going on to Sky News and blasting them for reporting on anything negative. I, personally, am interested in the leaks and what’s been going on, and people finishing the game. This is the nature of video games news, it’s not all rainbows and butterflies.

@Fudge_Fujiyama I can assure you, I am certainly not offended. There’s just a whole load of people slamming this game without even playing it. I, too, was on the fence and had never played nor seen anything like it but for £20 (not a premium price, considering most games are £50-60 even £70 for PS5) I figured it’s worth a shot. Right now, it’s sitting as one of the top 5 games of the year for me.
