Re: Soapbox: Paper Mario: Sticker Star Was When The Series Came Unstuck

@FawfulDX hit the nail on the head. The Paper part of paper Mario to me worked best as an art style and subtle nod for some mechanics. Thousand Year Door had the best blend utilizing the paper elements of the game without actually making the world feel “fake”. Now it’s established that Paper Mario isn’t the real Mario and those real world “things” combined with everything needing to utilize a paper gimmick instead of them just being characters first... that just bugs the hell out of me.

Re: Netflix's 'The Cuphead Show' Gets A Refill For A Second Season

@MatoFilipovic My thoughts exactly. The game gave the show writers a perfect set up, to have Cuphead and mug man going around collecting the soul debts of each boss character in an effort to save their own skin. This cartoon made the devil and king dice feel less threatening by comparison. It’s all just too safe and committee driven, Cuphead needed a bit of edge.

@Spunky well I got some bad news for you. Netflix is shrinking their animation departments. They are going to cut costs wherever they can to make up for their poor returns. Situation is like Cuphead will become more apparent and we’ll see a drop in quality for most animation going forward.

Re: The Plot Synopsis For Sonic Frontiers Has Been Revealed

I am looking forward to seeing what Ian Flynn can do as writer for the video games rather than the comics. His Archie reboot stuff was some of his best work but it required a lot of characters with their own priorities to always make sure Sonic and friends had something to do. Right now it sounds very isolated, keeping it to the core cast but I got a feeling there will be more to uncover from what I get of the synopsis.

Re: Updated Nintendo Policies Push For Increased Transparency And Diversity

@SalvorHardin That's the result of companies getting too chummy with each other. CEO's and workers in general may be switching between companies over the course of their career, they don't want to be burning bridges. I wish people had more 'teeth' and wouldn't bat an eye at the thought of destroying their competition. When companies or governments start being friendly with each other, we all lose.

Re: Sega To Announce "New RPG" At This Year's Tokyo Game Show

@Sunsy
Ah I remember those days, back when spin off games were plentiful yet sub-par. Looking back while the Sonic RPG was meh at best, the idea and world of Sonic is what really entertained me and it's a shame to see the franchise today being rebooted to the point of sterilization. I hope we can see more creative Sonic story-lines and a new RPG would be a good start.
