River City Girls Zero hit the Switch eShop yesterday, and it is accompanied by a slick new launch trailer, which you can view above.
The game is basically the localised version of the 1994 Super Famicom title Shin Nekketsu Koha: Kunio-tachi no Banka, but comes with the added bonus of new motion-comic cutscenes, an animated intro and new music by River City Girls composer Megan McDuffee and DEMONDICE.

Man, all of the previously-unlocalized games are making it to the west (Kunio games, Live a Live, Trials of Mana, Romancing Saga)! What a time to be alive!
They’re having a good go with this RCGirls line of games, but the beatemups that catch my eye are the ones of the Final Fight lineage with large detailed sprites, especially for widescreen display.
Saw a subsection of people acting super incredulous over this game's more faithful translation option referring to it as a literal one and how that's disrespectful to the work that goes into localization and it's like... You know what they mean and what distinguishes one translation from the other, shut up.
I really liked the art of River city girls. Why did they feel the need to mimic 8 bit art here when their 16+ bit art was kickass.
Had no idea this was even happening. I thought it was just RCG 2.
Shame it isn't part of the SNES Switch Online app
@sixrings This is just a translation and slight polish of a SNES game. They didn't make the choice to go with a different art style, they were just bound to this one since they were working with a game that already existed. River City Girls 2 is using the same style as RCG1.
All your Japanese-exclusive are belong to me.
Got my limited run games physical release pre ordered!
@Lizuka ok. I find the naming confusing. But that’s good
It's too bad Jake Kaufman wasn't available, as honestly the music in River City Girls was really forgettable and bland. Even better would have been for Way Forward to contact some of the original Kunio composers and see if they would like the work.
I need to go ahead and download this if it’s already out.
The singing was pretty meh but I loved the trailer.
So happy I get to roll River City trash with my girls multiple times this year that I could almost barf. The retro options available on Switch are incredible, especially if you enjoy a good beat em up.
I thought this was a fake game lol. I saw it on the eshop and was like "how dare they!", good to know I was way wrong.
Not fussed about the game, it looks like a really average snes title, but the animation of the trailer was incredible.
Nice art style, looks really Yu Yu Hukasho
I'm getting Slam Dunk flash back for some reason
I can't wait to play this!! (Whenever my LRG copy arrives).
