Definitely not really worth it, but these days our conspicuous consumption and status symbols have trickled down to things like video games, shoes, and what kind of phone you use versus back in the day your house and car. It's just as gross and vile, but humans are never not gonna be gross and vile. The people making these special editions with all the fixings are just cashing in on humans who can no longer afford big houses and fancy cars, but those same humans are just as vain and materialistic so of COURSE companies will prey on that. it's gross, but it's totally human.

I only have a few japanese snes imports, but omg, ASTRO! GO! GO! is the best F-Zero clone EVER! (anti-matter, you'd LOVE it btw lol). I highly recommend this game if you are a fan of F-Zero. The music, the colors, the characters... sooooo amazing

the reversible Sega Master System design for the cover is beautiful as are the 3D glasses.

I mean cartooney visually... I don't find games that look exactly like cartoons fun.

too cartooney. and i say that as someone who hates realism in video games, but when it looks like you are playing a cartoon (graphic-wise), at least for me, i feel so blah about it.

but if you can't beat the first level of star fox 1, you can't unlock Star Fox 2. F THAT NOISE!!!!!!!!

oh FML! I just sold TMNT to someone for 8 bux (i know, i know... but i didn't realize the value of the game until after I sold it and looked on amazon and ebay...) I sold a bunch of games for 5-10 bux a pop cuz I needed 200 bux a week or so ago. I got fleeced with a few of the games I sold. I basically let this dude come to my apartment and just pick out games and named prices 5,7,8, or 10... he left with a big sack of games and I got my 200, but turtles IV was one of them and now i'm mad. I really thought it was on the SNES classic Mini. what made me even think that!?!?

And garbage icon for... all the generic and vanity project pixel games! sorry

What do you mean the "F-Zero model?" that game is HARD, but on easy you still always got see all the tracks. The Fast Racing series is obnoxiously difficult and I will never purchase another Shi'an game because of this issue.

Unless they decide to unlock all the courses for sucky players like me, but even well seasoned players can't unlock half of it, and games get boring that way, especially racing games.

FAST RMX deserves to be buried. Very angry with that company right now. And I don't even have Fast RMX, just the first two games in the series on the Wii and Wii U. UNFAIR DIFFICULTY! (i will never stop complaining about this). All tracks should be unlocked at least in easy mode. We're not all gamer phenoms. Imagine if movies came with the last half locked?! :/

I STUPIDLY splurged a few weeks ago on PS4 stuff (Friday the 13th, a headset, and Dead By Daylight) thinking I could never find one of these SNES Mini's. grrrrrrrr. I guess I could cancel my preorder for Friday the 13th, but I think I am going to wait til my birthday in February, or at least when I get my tax return refund before considering it. I have all the games that I want to play on the original SNES along with a Retron 5, so justifiably this would be an obscene purchase for me given my current financial situation (i.e. BROKER than broke). It's just SO damn cute looking :/

I was seriously thinking about taking the trip to the Nintendo World Store yesterday. Glad to see they still have them, but it's too much of a guilty purchase for me, i can't justify it. I wish I had loved ones that I could hint to that this would be what I would want for Xmas or my Bday, but dogs don't shop.

When I passed by Best Buy near my job the other day and saw the long line (although not as long as I thought considering they probably had enough for everyone in that line...) i heard someone say "im hoping to get 200" ha! just looked at Amazon and there's 44 PAGES of people selling them just a tad under that amount. SUCK IT, SCALPERS! I myself am often hard up for money, but waiting in line for who knows how long, having to list it on Amazon (which appears to have a HUGE glut)... is it worth it for that extra 100 dollars!?

I work near the Nike Kith store as well and every week or so there's huge lines that go down the block (along with the Supreme store which has lines wrapped AROUND the block in Soho) full of resellers and scalpers. There was a near mini riot one day and we all peeked our heads out the window onto Bleecker street to watch it.

Consumer culture is seriously bananas.

I picked up Redout on the PS4 a few weeks ago because I am not in the running to get a Switch yet, but omg... that game was so promising. I <3 futuristic racers, but unfortunately it's harder than the Fast Racing games. I can't unlock a SINGLE thing! such a waste. I don't know why all tracks can't be unlocked from the beginning.

not my type of game (i have no rhythm), but I love the screenshots of the space ship and people lined up under it.

Do you think they made a giant amount in the first wave for early people like us and then now will skimpt out for the holiday season?

so the controller cords and all the other cords are so short that they WANT us to be pretending like it's 1991 again and sitting in front of a tube tv? at least it's legit. When I get one I will NOT be buying extension cords, i will be sitting 1 foot away from a tv like I did back in the 90s. otherwise, what IS the point of this?

I'm going through major PTSD after selling like 1/4 of my gaming collection in the last few weeks (bills, etc). I kept all my Nintendo stuff except for the gameboy micro. I regret selling it. Seller's regret, but I sold some old systems and made some profit and made SURE the people who came to buy them (i literally vetted them and had to hang out with them for a bit before they bought... ugh im a weirdo!), but still. i regret selling! Er, that was a major tangent hahaha.

I want to find one for myself as my X-mas present to myself. Or gift it to my dog or something and then open it up on Xmas morning and have my dog look at me like whaaaaaaaaa?

I keep meaning to find a way to mod my wii, but then I don't go there. It just feels... dirty or something? I <3 original stuff. I do play my nes and snes games on a retron5 though (the thing SUCKS btw)... the doors for the cartridges busted on both of them and it gets wonkier and wonkier, and just feels like a junky jalopy clone mess even though their packaging and marketing made it seem not the case.

to everyone who has it... is it light as a feather? does it feel like it will fall off a shelf if you are playing and make a quick movement?

The more i keep reading about this thing the more I want it. do you think gamestops are going to get replenished often? Someone mentioned going to the nintendo world store and i thought about travelling into manhattan today to wait in line, but i live in brooklyn and didn't feel like going out there for this... just to be disappointed.

I agree with some other posters, the games do lack, but it has F-Zero and Mario Kart <3 (i'm a racing game hardcore weirdo.. the only games i can play at a decent clip). I did also beat Mario World the summer before my freshman year of high school. amazing memories.

True story... My grandmother who raised me was the crossing guard outside the high school i was about to start in September of 1991 and I BEGGED her to quit her job before I started freshman year in 1991 and she said, I can quit, or I can continue and you still get video games and I was like hmmmmm and we went out and got the Super Nintendo that late August. I did eventually convince her to move to another spot as a crossing guard (some elementary school in the neighborhood) lol. i was a brat.

thanks for that reply! arg. So basically i won't be able to play StarFox 2 if i find this. I really am that bad. I didn't like the first starfox though other than it's mystical status as a game, so i guess i'm not too angry, but still. lame to keep it locked.

WAIT. is it true, you have to UNLOCK starfox 2? What if you can't beat the first level of star fox 1? Sorry, I have the original cart and was never able to beat it (yes, i am THAT bad at video games!).

And I love that the box/packaging looks like the original box/packaging. I wish I didnt throw out my original SNES's box before going away to college It's weird how vivid that box is is my mind to this day... from like 26 years ago. whoa.

stopped into a gamestop today and there was no mention of this system.. i guess they were obviously sold out. im so on the fence. i wanting this more and more as the days go by, purely for nostalgic reasons, but i'm in so muuuuuuuuuuuuch debt as it is (i sold 1/5th of my gaming collection in the last few weeks)..

IM SO MAD RIGHT NOW. the line is stretching for blocks around the nintendo world store. i bought MK8 there when it was released and had the time of my life waiting in line. (the only thing i EVER waited in line for) who knew that game would be available everywhere though, but they released the deluxe edition with the big blue shell that i made into a giant necklace that I will always cherish.

waiting for this clip to come on, cuz scalpers are SO obvious. Why can't they just have bouncers that that only let people in who they think are real fans!? i know, i know....

im OLD and going to sleep now for work tomorrow and watching the news and they just showed an ad telling us to stayed tuned for Nintendo's Next Gaming system being released in midtown (assuming the nintendo world store). ha. looks like a ZOO already!

Supadav, YES the impulse buy is VERY important for these kinds of games. I bought SO many small cheap games BECAUSE i'd have a 50 dollar card or something and then have like 3.25 left or something. so YES that automatically makes me want to buy a 2.99 priced game, not buy another 50 dollar card to buy a 7.99 game. With a 50 dollar card I would never buy these for 7.99.. But if I bought a 40 dollar game and had 10 bux left over? Yeah, i might buy two at say 3.99! These games are either nostalgia or impulse and they are losing out on the impulse buyers which I think account for MORE than the nostalgic players, at least for this set of games.

it's probably best for my bank account anyway.. I couldn't get into the original Star Fox and after reading the review for Star Fox 2 this is also a hard sell for me. If I didnt have the retron 5 (or if it didn't exist) i might be totally tempted just as a cheap way to play games in HD. Tho lately I feel the retron 5 is a piece of junk. I treat my games and systems like my babies and i don't even play it that often, but the think is janky as hell! I only bought it less than a year ago too. and play MAYBE 1-2 hours a week on it. I'm sure the quality of the Nintendo minis is much better.

Are they multiplayer online at least? MAYBE i could justify the price then.

And it should have been a collection called Nintendo Arcade Ports. Not this nickel and diming overpriced curated cash-grabs that prey upon faux-nostalgia.

"rare gems" i was going to be like what!?!? then i remembered that these are the arcade versions. Maybe my memory is a little fuzzy, but I just remember the arcade versions of the nintendo versions being nothing more than just HARDER QUARTER SUCKERS. What am I missing? They all look the same to me. More levels?

There's a Best Buy right near my job in Manhattan... What are the chances I can stop in tomorrow morning before work (well, will have to go back out when they open) and get one? Didnt Gamestop also so they're all getting like 50 consoles in each store? The real demand for that many can't be there, but the scalper demand i am sure CAN be. I hope everyone who wants one gets one... I'm on the fence since there's not enough good games on there that I don't already have, but it's SO damn adorable... And my SNES is the color of I Cant Believe it's Not Butter these days! (though it still works).

And because it's twee and not nostalgic, it totally debases the classic nature of the original games. It's the equivalent of recently manufactured Nirvana (or add any band here) tshirts being sold for 90 dollars at boutiques. Nintendo, stop being so boutiquey, it's a terrible look for you.

I'm 40 years old and started out on Atari and 8 bit nes. No interest in this kind of "retro" at all. This isn't nostalgia at all, it's a giant corporation banking on these being twee purchases, just for the sake of being twee for the monied set. We see this days in all facets of life, it's totally gross and obvious. Here's my finger, Nintendo. Sit and spin.
