I used to play Duck Hunt with my grandfather who adopted me in 1977 so, the late 80's was when we were playing (also he was blind lol, but it didn't stop him). Video games can bring families together in fun amazing ways.
So.... speaking for 9/10th's of the posters here. how DOES one score a "rich wife"? Especially one who approves of video games. And i'm gay asking this!
I do wish there were tighter controls on third party and indie junk though. There's waaaaay too much garbage being released on this system and I think it detracts, but whatever, it's just my opinion.
That said, I won't be buying a Switch until a new Mario Kart gets released. I am interested in Mario Oddessy, but I don't enjoy that kind of open world gameplay, so not for me, but at some point, the Switch will be for people like me. I hope! ive owned every Nintendo platform device and i'd hate to break that record now.
I almost bought the Switch for Redout (seriously, i did), but I paid 40 plus tax for it last month and now it's new for only 20 bux. I bought it on the PS4 and wondering if the Switch version is also now 20 bux? that keeps a lot of people away too, the prices on Nintendo games never seem to go down (not a bad thing really!) but annoying for players like me stuck between a rock and a hard place of finding the niche games we enjoy.
The Nintendo zeitgeist of the moment is amazing, and I hope it continues. I'm 40 and work in an office of various ages from early 20s to late 60s people and Nintendo comes up every once in a while. XBox, PS, never... if I mentioned playing on PS4 I'd probably get some chary (british word lol) looks! Nintendo, not so much, everyone chimes in. Also I was late to work many times back in the getting the Wii days hahaha, but everyone understood.
Nintendo has always had "mature" games, but a lot of people fail to see the difference between mature and overly testosteroned kill-fests. That said, I was sitting in a Starbucks today reading and saw a Switch deal go down. I was SO jealous.
I only recently splurged and bought a new 3ds (the small one) and I love it. the wooden mario face plates i added to the white console and it's pretty beautiful. i still think the ice blue ds lite is the prettiest handheld ever though.
I spotted my FIRST switch today going down the subway, i noticed the Nintendo World Store bags are Zelda themed now!? saw in her bag and she totally had a switch! so is the Nintendo store in midtown Manhttan now carrying them a lot? I remember the Wii race where they would get some in each morning, but just a few... !? help! (although I cant afford to buy one now anyway, literally don't have the money) just curious!
I rotate my old systems on the weekend, this weekend is Gamecube for me. I was HOPING to get Friday the 13th for PS4 delivered today, but because i'm not a prime member on Amazon it's not shipping until next week I really wanted to play that BADLY tonight. Maybe i'll play the NES Friday the 13th instead. :/
THEN APOLOGIES > NO APOLOGIES! <3 thanks for making my brain go wild for a minute or two. Better than those generic pixel games (sorry, I view Pixel games to all else like house hunters view linoleum versus hardword floors)
The Data East Collection was great (forgetting what system it was released on .. ps2 and gc?) and the capcom classics collection 1 and 2 were AMAZING (i thought anyway). Collecting all these advanced plug and play systems gets really old really fast, and such a waste of space and plastic. I did find my Genesis mini the other day and hooked up and the emulation is HORRIBLE (the sound is horrible, but the play is okay) but it only had 6 games on it, but it's so cute an adorable and reminds me of the mini nes and snes's. I really want a SNES mini now, what are the chances in North America?
I'm a little too old for these have been interesting to me back then, but when they die, does that mean the device was bricked or something? like you couldn't bring it back to life? I'm confused by the entire thing. Is it similar to games like NintendoDogs on the DS? I tried that game for about minute and never went back, and I <3 dogs, but I wasn't sure what the point was? Obviously i was missing it.
I really hated the gamepad and didn't buy any games that truly needed it. I wasn't a fan of motion control (except for the gimicky aspect at first when it first game out). And the miiverse atmosphere made me barfily uncomfortable at times.
It should have had a few price drops over it's last few years, I don't understand why that never happened. That said, it's going to be quite a wonderful system to have as a collector in 10-20 years. Or maybe not. How many were actually made versus sold, does anyone know? It's the nintendo system I have the least amount of games for, and i'd like to buy some of the first party titles I havent gotten yet.. not sure though. I just recently sold about half my gaming collection and dealing with serious PTSD because of it.
the virtual boy in my avatar is broken, and i don't trust my skills enough to try and fix it myself. it's a lovely item for a shelf, but other than that, i don't know..
how many times are they going to rehash this garbage? it was fine 10 years ago, but considering our political climate? I find these games GARBAGE and seriously tone-deaf.
Ive been gaming for almost 30 years and I just suck at those kinds of games, I don't know... we all have our preferences i guess! I didn't like Mario 64 or Sunshine so I think I might not like this, plus it takes place in "New Donk City" as someone who currently lives in NYC and dealing with major gentification issues, I frown upon this game.
I'm having flashbacks to my 12-13 year old self now and I think I possibly knew. this is funny as hell.
however... "Hold down Right, pres B 3x then press Up, and release it. Press B 3 more times. Press Left, then release and press B 3 more times. Press Down, release, then press B 3 more times. Finally press Start" that sounds harder than playing the game itself! hahahahha I'm old now... very old so doing these kinds of button configurations in order in exactly the same time can be hard. I am SO going to try though. You said it's for the NES version, right?
Last week I plugged in Friday the 13th (the original one for the NES) and had a BLAST. Back in the day I had no idea what the point of it was and it was so hard, but I think I got it, it's still hard, but more fun now. Great game. Can't wait to get the Friday the 13th game soon... the new one... Switch should get it!!!!
Castlevania IV I actually BEAT THAT GAME! Zombies is AMAZING. Halloween season for gaming is the best. Some people get all snarky and say they refuse to celebrate the holidays via gaming, but im like pooof!
WAIT! I am having flashbacks (i can't tell if they are true or fantasy?) or using the game genie on the NES to play all the levels? Is this made up in my head!? I dont have my NES game genie anymore, but do still have my snes one, but missing the version on snes too grrr thieves!
I'm waiting for Mario Kart 9. I hope it comes. Mario Kart 8 was the reason for the Wii U purchase. Part of me hopes there is no Mario Kart 9 on the Switch just so I don't have to find the need to purchase it. Not feeling Mario Oddessy as I suck at open sandbox games and don't find them all that interesting, but really glad other people are super exicited for it and I hope (know) it will do well! I almost bought a Switch (tried to) for Fast Racing Neo on it, but since the game is ridiculously hard in a cheap way, there's no reason. All the other shovelware indies are on other systems if one is so inclined too. Don't see the need for it now, and I hope for a revision of the system in a year or two (it's obviously going to happen so I think wasting 300 bux on the old version now would be stupid if there's nothing to enjoy for myself).
I love terrible graphics, but i hate terrible graphics for the sake of terrible graphics. I don't know, it just looks like more phone game shovelware to me.
Sorry, I don't mean to be mean, but basically what I am saying is that it's strange how such low-quality stuff (doesn't matter if it is indie or not) gets such good reviews for junk, just because.

@Kalmaro
Not at all. I just find these games a regression in gamer intellect. Sorry.

This kind of garbage keeps me from wanting a Switch.
Re: Sonic Forces Producer Discusses the Breadth of Content Available

The newer sonic games, the 3D ones anyway, don't appeal to me. I did like Sonic Colors though and should give that another round.
