This is awesome, I didn't think it would be as cool as it is. The ppl complaining about a FREE App that u can use IF U WANT TO are ridiculous. When something funny happens in a race, now u can save it and share it, whats so wrong about that?
@MuchoMochi Not gonna read a whole conversation just to see if ur not dumb. U assumed that was the controller without even reading and now u feel crunchy. Dont take it out on me
@MuchoMochi Guys the picture they used is not the actual controller, the picture in this article is ANOTHER controller the company made for the Wii not the Wii U. I think the author thought u guys had enough brain to conclude that but i guess not LOL.
@JaxonH Yeah but that's just because the Wii U has a Wii mode. Weather its above and beyond or just the right thing, Nintendo should follow suit. I'm glad they're trying a lot of this stuff on their future hardware, or at least they've said so only time will tell.
@JaxonH True, but the industry has clearly been headed that way for almost a decade. Nintendo is a company with ALOT of money, even if the Wii U fails super hard it wont even phase them. So if Sony (a company that has been losing money for several years now) can do cross buy with different OS on their home console and and their handhelds i don't see why Nintendo has to be so greedy as to make us pay for the games over and over again. Sony also had a feature that lets u purchase games for ur PS3 and u can get the PS4 version of the same game for just $10. The PS4 and Vita are already there by the way, a huge chunk of the games coming out now have cross buy between Vita and PS4, so Nintendo with the Wii U (Which is viewed as the much inferior console right now) needs to stay ahead of the curb to stay relevant or next thing you know everyone is gonna be emulating their stuff and stop paying attention to the legitimate ways of playing their games.
@JaxonH Yeah i know the article is about their future hardware, just making the point that they recognize where they messed up. I LOVE Nintendo and their recent games haven't disappointed one bit, but man they need to get with it!!! I also don't think people should be paying the price for the decisions they made to not have an OS that doesn't require re-development when its been the norm for a good while now, Android and iOS have existed for 7+ years and people have compared them to Nintendo ever since it came out. Even Sony has been doing cross buy with the PS3 for a long time now... They should have payed attention to these kinds of details sooner.
@JaxonH Lol ur dreaming u think its that huge of a hassle to get those old games that ran on such inferior hardware to run on these much more powerful consoles. Even so, they should at least let me pay the money it cost to port the game and not REPURCHASING EACH GAME OVER AND OVER. Any difficulties Nintendo has porting those games over is their own fault too. They should make their hardware easier to develop for and compatible with their previous hardware if they're planning to sell the old games. So REGARDLESS, Nintendo needs to step up their game and start pleasing the long time fans and adopt some USER FRIENDLY POLICIES because its obviously NOT WORKING out for them currently.
@JaxonH since u can't read:
"... You're confusing remakes with VC releases, the VC is basically an emulator on your console. They don't have to redevelop each game for each system when it comes to the VC. So ur "cross buy perspective" is very naive indeed."
They already have the software (basically the emulator) that runs GBA and NES games on BOTH systems. They don't have to develop ANYTHING (with a few exceptions like LoZ: Minish cap for the 3DS which was basically a remake using the 3DS buttons), they literally grab the rom and run it!
@JaxonH Cross buy is NOT a separate issue since it pertains to the VC directly, so this is the perfect time and place to say my opinion. I own both 3DS (yes I'm an ambassador too) and Wii U and it bugs me how the Nintendo ecosystem isn't compatible with itself. As a consumer it bother me when Nintendo makes a dumb decision like this because I expect much better from them. Just because I'm a "dude behind a computer" doesn't mean i can't have an opinion about a company's policies. Especially when they affect me directly, so if Nintendo or any company I like does something like this I can't help but feel disappointed. I never said they shouldn't release GBA games for Wii U, just that they should just adopt more user friendly policies.
If they don't give the fans what they want, they will only push them more and more towards piracy. Also it doesn't cost millions of dollars to port super Mario bros to a console that's way more powerful than the NES. If u know anything about coding you'd know that. That's why Nintendo said they want to build an ecosystem like Apple did where it doesn't cost ANYTHING to port games from your iPhone to ur iPad. You're confusing remakes with VC releases, the VC is basically an emulator on your console. They don't have to redevelop each game for each system when it comes to the VC. So ur "cross buy perspective" is very naive indeed.
@JaxonH No one is "Hating" It's just a dumb business move by Nintendo to limit VC games from a previous Handheld console to home consoles only. If they really wanted to get some attention on the Wii U they would just implement cross buy between both systems and allow ur huge library of VC games u've already purchased (multiple times probably) to transfer to the Wii U and vice versa. Almost everyone who likes Nintendo games has a 3DS, and what better way to attract them to purchasing a Wii U than this? Its just a huge missed opportunity, in a very stupid way too. And that mentality of : "If you don't want to play these games on Wii U, I've got an idea... DON'T BUY THEM! " Is pretty naive cuz they're trying to make money out of this, and they're only limiting themselves.
@Action51 I totally see ur point but the truth is there are way better ways to attract people to the Wii U then limiting the 3DS. Nintendo says it wants to build this ecosystem yet they don't do cross buy. If they just implemented cross buy through your Nintendo network ID then the people who have a big library of classics on their 3DS might be enticed to get a Wii U knowing their giant library will transfer and they'll also have access to all the awesome Wii u games that are out already. Only releasing GBA games for Wii U is working against them cuz its just making the majority of people mad and turn to piracy to acquire all those games on their 3DS instead.
@rjejr to answer ur question, yes. It IS that big of a deal, a lot of ppl including myself were pretty worried sonic wouldn't make it since he's third party and we thought his appearance would be a one time thing. This is pretty huge news to me!!!!! Thank god SEGA allowed hint o be included again!!!
I personally dont get headaches or anything from the 3D, but what does happen to me is that if I play a game in 3D for too long i think my eyes get use to it so it stops feeling too impressive. I dont have an issue at all with their decision on stereoscopic 3D cuz I think it'll be nice to have battles look a bit different, since sometimes i got bored of the battles (the simplistic UI and general look of it.) in previous games.
I honestly dont mind at all if there's 3D in battles only, i think hes right when he said : "... You can just leave it on and then at certain specific moments, the 3D will come on and it will be more surprising or impactful to the player". I think i'll probably enjoy the 3D more if i'm NOT playing in 3D all the time and then it comes on in specific parts
thats cool, if thats ur opinion but i dont find those tiny screens practical at all. The "caked layered sparkly glossy" look of the original was one of the worst aspects about it. A quick google search and most gaming websites agree. I for one, was so glad when they announced it wasn't gonna look like one of those cheap wanna be handhelds cansoles with "educational games" for children which that glossy look reminded me of. That 3 hr battery life was atrocious, and the screens was so small and uncomfy for 3D since the sweet spot is so specific it's almost impossible to fully play in 3D cuz the slightest movement of ur finger would move it and u have to adjust immediately. The resolution is the same on both but XL is much more comfortable on the eyes since its huge. It's like playing a wii on an itty bitty tv and saying the graphics are better cuz u can barely see the jagged edges... The jagged edges are still there but it's still much more comfortable in a bigger screen since u can actually see what's happening. The only real advantage I will confirm for sure is the speakers are a little softer on the XL at full volume than they were in the original but I wear headphones most of the time I play so that doesn't really bother me. And complaining about it "borrowing looks from the dsi" makes no sense, since it IS the successor to the dsi. Only makes total since for it to borrow looks from its older brothers which I never had an issue with to begin with. Just like it borrows the dual screen and touch screen functionalities, button lay outs etc. of its predecessor. I LOVED my dsi and I love how much the XL reminds me of it.
@WaveBoy I completely disagree I got the original in 2011 and was so disappointed at how last gen it felt. It felt way too small right from the get go, and the 3D barely worked on it since u have to hold it in a specific way for it to actually be comfortable to see. When i got the XL this May I was blown away by how "next-gen" it felt and looked. The original felt more like my dsi than anything else. The stylus in the left hand is so hard to reach for and so awkward to grab and then extend. That's why Ninty switched the position on the redesign (XL). Also maybe your XL might have been defective cuz i can tell for a fact the XL has a way better resolution and therefore a much crisper/sharper/comfortable picture. The original is by far the weaker of the two, ask anyone who currently has both, I guarantee you they'll tell u the same thing. You already admitted to getting rid of ur XL so u cant really compare side by side as im actually holding both and can definitely tell which is more relevant to most gamers. Not to mention the battery life on the original is pure CRAP. I guess if you like the original one better its just ur opinion but don't try to say the XL is weaker than it because its not true.
@WaveBoy I own both an original and an XL and i cant see why anyone would ever even bother with the original. The XL is way bigger and the 3D sweet spot is much more comfortable. I have Mario Kart 7 and Street Fighter IV (and many others too) and they all play better on the XL so I'm not sure what you are referring to. The XL's display is much better for everything as far as I'm concerned. The original is way too small and uncomfortable to see whats going on or even hold. In every game i have a huge problem pressing the triggers on the original where the problem doesn't even phase me on the XL and therefore i consider it Superior for sure in almost every way. Idk why u would hinder yourself with it unless you have really small hands.
