@JaxonH
I wouldn't call it challenging either, not that it detracts from the fun at all.
There are quite a few puzzles, some are head scratchers, most are not.
There is way more combat in this game than previous Lego games. Each character has two attacks, and two more if you hold those buttons down, and can jump, fly or shrink. The levels are really fun and represent the marvel universe like no other game before it. Including places not seen in games until now.
Exploring the open world collecting vehicles, characters, quests and activities give an obscene amount of value to the game. Just when you think you've seen everything, something might happen, like a Sentinel drops out of the sky to attack you.
No, your gaming skills won't be pushed to the limit, but if you're a fan of Marvel or Lego, your ship ( or Fantasticar ) has just come in.
The characters alone are worth the price of admission. Heck I was running around with Antman and Wasp... just because. Black Bolt is here for cripes sake! Archangel... the list is huge. Not even mentioning custom heroes.
Finally, Lego Marvel gets a download. People on Miiverse have been asking for one since the U.S. release.
If you're a Marvel fan, or a Lego fan, do not miss this game. I've become hopelessly addicted to it. As a lover of all things Marvel, this is easily the best Marvel video game I've ever played. I completed the story, and I'm still unlocking characters and vehicles, and enjoying activities in the massive game world.
I can safely say, that this is currently my favorite game of the year.
Seems like another topic to bring in the haters and bashers, on a FAN site, no less.
Look, Shiggy carved out a legacy in the arcade environment. I'm pretty sure he understands, on a very deep level, which games work best shoulder to shoulder, as opposed to over the internet.
And I agree with Einherjar, it's hard to play a platformer with MOST people. How many of you have tried to play one with someone who's skills aren't on the same level as yours?
Anyway, I don't see the problem here, you DO/WILL get first party software with online/offline multiplayer. Some of the bashers are making it sound as if it doesn't even exist.
Shinobi series, Phantasy Star series, Toe Jam and Earl series, Streets of Rage series, Eswat, the Shining series... I guess I'd better stop there, for now.
Do non-Sega games count? 'Cause I'd love Alisia Dragoon, Decap Attack, the Valis series, El Viento... to name a few.
Cripes! I almost forgot Wonder Boy in Monster Land, that would rock!!!
Is anybody else troubled that we're seeing the very same Batman, and badguy animations that we've seen for years. Even the 'clutch your head when you get knocked down' guy is still here, Batman's combos, the animations for removing vents... And was the announcer trying a little too hard to create a sense of excitement?
Don't get me wrong, I love this series. I'm just a little cautious after seeing this. Not feeling the whole Nolan inspired cowl and suit, but I can get over that easily.
@PattonFiend I remember that article! Five months ago it was the engine, now it's sales? Okay, now I'm an EA hater as well.
What's sad is that Most wanted rocks on Wii U, and the community is growing daily, just read the Miiverse posts, I'm also seeing more and more people posting that they want it.
The Wii U is already my favorite system of all time. I can't see how anyone could own one, and hate on it. The features, and fun passitmes, Googling on the pad while watching a youtube video on the TV, the communities, it's sublime. And yes, there are tons of great games for it, just look.
Gaming on the pad is everything, and more, I had hoped it would be.
Good, Keep him as far away from Zelda as possible.
Miyamoto is why we got Skyward Sword and not a game more closely related to Twilight Princess.
Eiji Aonuma literally had to scrap the Zelda he was working on, and start from scratch, when Shigeru decided he wanted the next Zelda to look like an impressionist painting. I completely changed my opinion of the man after that. The series was headed in a long over-due direction, and he sent it back to cartoon land.
Similar to what happend to Metroid after the amazing Prime series.
I still respect his career, but he's better suited to 'lighter' endeavours.
@brandonbwii You nailed it, man. NL loves to stir the pot so they can get more clicks, which in turn makes all their advertisers happy, which in turn makes them cash. Unfortunately, it also makes them one of the least desirable site for fans to get Nintendo news. It has been becoming rather tiresome of late.
No other Zelda is as epic, dark, and mature. It was as if the series had finally grown up. Twilight Princess is also the only video game I've ever played where I felt so emotionally tied to the main character, even to the point of tears.
I was so dissappointed to see the franchise return to the more childish and cartoony direction of the games that followed. Twilight Princess was a monumental turning point, and a course that Nintendo should have continued to persue.
I have both the GameCube, and Wii versions. It's one of my most played games, and certainly one of my favorite games for any platform, of all time.
I'm sure there are playgrounds all over the world full of children who love yelling at video games, and shouting strings of obscenities, who are going to get mad at me, but there are other self obsessed connivers on the internet. They need lovin' too.
@shinpichu Not at all, been a fan for years. I loves me some homebrew, too.
I just think it's funny how taboo these things are on certain sites, yet the author of this piece is ready to hand the guy an award for tailoring his daughter's world, to prevent her from having a male role model in a video game.
Please don't post specifics, and no, it's not okay to post in support of piracy, hacking, and emulation as per our Community Rules. Thanks in advance! — TBD
Heroes of Ruin and Code of Princess are my two favorite 3DS titles.
It's a real shame that Heroes of Ruin won't be getting a sequel. This is the kind of thing I've wanted on a handheld for many years. I've had nothing but a blast playing, and replaying this game, and I've yet to encounter any of these numerous bugs people keep complaining about.
As far as I'm concerned, the game is a masterpiece. The western style, and online-offline play, combined with a mind-numbing amount of loot, and addicting gameplay... I dunno, maybe the audience for this kind of a game doesn't exist in Nintendofandom. As an old PC gamer from way back, this suits me to the ground.
I play Atari on Stella, on my Wii, very nearly every day. The Wii remote is perfect for it, especially tilting it for the paddle games. The only way to play 2600 games, even with Stella, is on a real TV in the living room.
I'm the proud owner of a heavy sixer, and the lighter model that came after, as well.
Symphony of the night with it's 'Metroidvania' game mechanics is what dragged the series from fondly remembered, to massive sensation. Can this man really be so clueless?
Later entries that strayed from the formula (and later console versions,) stunk.
If I want a story, I'll read a book. All I need is a brief motivation for my character's actions, a huge castle filled with nasties, goodies galore, a leveling system, and Dracula.
Seriously, dude. It's that simple. Stop steering the series away from what I love about it.
Last E3 people didn't even understand what the Wii U was, some thought it was a new portable system.
Nintendo left no doubt as to the many promissing aspects of the system this year, including the redesigns and expanded social side of the Wii U. And that's just what they needed to do at this E3.
They did a great job.
Anyone not excited, or 'displeased' with the presentation, is lurking the wrong site, jaded, or completely oblivious to what this means to the future of gaming.
Amen to that, Jahir. I'm so thankful for the RE Archives on Wii. The last two real games in the series, as far as I'm concerned. 4 was a great game, but it was also a departure.
I've completely lost interest in this. This is lowest denominator, by the numbers, tripe.
Stormy night, shaky hand-cam, buckets of slime ( and slimey sound effects ), the strings from Psyco's shower scene, chanting, and test book cliche lines of bravado, and fear. Oh, and an unusual amount of boobs, and butt shots. I didn't appreciate the suggestive 'spew in the face' scene, either.
Has Capcom lost their creative talent? I think so. The classic games in the series knew how to build a real sense of fear.
And don't get me started on that hair. That would almost be acceptable on an SD, or anime character, yet this games' style is far removed from those. They've taken away any chance of considering the character as more than T&A, by eclipsing her face.
I don't know, maybe I'm outgrowing games like this. Or maybe I expected companies like Capcom to grow up with me.
This is being called the best party game on the Wii in customer reviews. High praise. These are the games you bust out with friends and family. People reviewing it as a solo experience are missing out on a lot of fun.
I used to despise these types of games until I realized what an event they create in your living room, or even a friends' living room.
God, I love Nintendo. Sacrifice, humility... No other Corporation on the planet works as close to the heart ( to say nothing of Governments. ).
And still you have the haters, bashers, and all-around jaded gamers who will never be satisfied. Who, truth be told, are doing more damage to the industry, than they realize.
Twilight Princess was nine kinds of epic, even an emotional experience, as far as I'm concerned. The Tim Burton meets Jim Henson art design had a lot to do with it. I'm just not feeling it with this direction. I really think Shiggy was wrong this time.
