I never played it on the gamecube. Tried it the other day when it came onto NSO.
The opening is truly abysmal. I know it's over 20 years old, but there were games at the time that still had better introductions, on-boarding and just general solid design philosophies in their opening. Very poor initial impression and, if indicative of the rest of the game, not surprised it reviewed as it did.
@StorminNorman i am immensely envious of your proximity to kookaburras after falling in love with the fluffy buggers last year when I visited Australia.
@Olderion yeah Nintendo Switch Sports has sold over 18 million units, it's a massive sleeper success, and just another example of "hardcore" gamers completely underestimating and patronising the wider market.
@molkom when in handheld mode, open the kickstand and position it so it rests on your hands. It's a great way to redistribute the weight of the console.
@SBandy1 yep, Bethesda haven't moved on for 2 decades and a vast array of studios have surpassed them. It boggles my mind that people give them a free pass at this point.
@SBandy1 yep, it's almost certainly going to be an absolute flustercuck of an initial release. People just don't seem to learn when it comes to Bethesda.
I went from the Amiga to the N64, so going from a joystick to an analogue stick felt natural. I was never a fan of d-pads when occasionally getting to try out a console at a friends house.
@LikelySatan it was more a comment on how Fortnite cheapens everything it touches, less a comment on sonic, but I concede that wasn't really apparent in my musings.
The Space Marine games are the most aggressively 6/10 games I think I've ever played. I can't for the life of me understand why so many people regard them so highly, and that's coming from a fan of 40k of 30 years.
Tomodachi dropping from 7th to not even on the charts suggests physical copies have become extremely hard to come by in the UK. Seems to be the same problem here in Germany, as far as I can tell.

Re: Here Are The Top 20 Best-Selling GameCube Games In The US
@ShadowRJ oooh that I wasn't aware of, thanks for the interesting tidbit.
Re: Here Are The Top 20 Best-Selling GameCube Games In The US
@Henchdog that figures. Although it was originally revealed as a GC exclusive, it made business sense to also release on thre PS2.
Re: Here Are The Top 20 Best-Selling GameCube Games In The US
Astonishing Resident Evil 4 didn't make this list, but I suppose back then it was heavily associated with Playstation still.
Also, Star Fox Adventures was the latest game added to the NSO Gamecube library.

Also can't log in, Germany here.
Re: Nintendo Details Switch 2 Price Increase For The UK
@jco83 Amazon are also absolute scum and one really, really shouldn't give them any money.

@molkom you're welcome. I hope it helps alleviate the issue for you.

Re: Sonic The Hedgehog Joins Fortnite In A New Zone Later This Month
Fortnite cheapens everything it touches with its crossovers. Nintendo have been very sensible keeping all their IP away from it.
Re: Feature: "It's Disingenuous To Call It A Remake" - Bethesda On Why Oblivion For Switch 2 Is A Remaster
Bethesda are a busted flush, and I have no sympathy for anyone who gets taken in by their bluster, again!
Re: Rumour: Ganondorf Actor For The Zelda Movie May Have Been Leaked
@SBandy1 Shannondorf, no?
Re: Switch 2 Has Reportedly Already Surpassed GameCube's UK Sales
@Maxz Crikey, shots fired!
Re: Xenoblade Chronicles Studio Monolith Soft Helped Out With Splatoon Raiders
@clianvXAi this really is nothing but conjecture on your part. Unhelpful.
Re: Poll: How Would You Rate Nintendo's Switch Online Offering In 2026?
Here's a curve ball for you: wouldnlove to see Amiga and its games come to the online library.
Re: Japanese Charts: Holy Moly, Look At Those Rhythm Heaven Groove Sales
@OpheliaDynamight Not sure there are any turtles in Starfox, but I'm in Germany so maybe it varies ;D
Re: Yoshi's New Switch 2 Game Is Getting A Demo On The Nintendo eShop
@Alpha008 i wouldn't necessarily read that much into it. Nintendo seem to be providing demos for the majority of their games now, after release.
Re: Bethesda Will Reportedly Shift Focus Over To Its Biggest Franchises
Not giving that mob any of my money. Absolute vandals.

Interesting read, thanks.

Re: Sonic-Themed Fortnite Collab Teased, Coming Soon
@StarCollector this is my thinking as well. I genuinely think it's one of the shrewdest decisions they have made in the last decade.

Re: Sonic-Themed Fortnite Collab Teased, Coming Soon
Ah yes, the Fortnite collaboration. Or alternatively, "How to cheapen your IP".
Re: Multiple Xbox Studios Reportedly In Active Negotiations With Microsoft To Avoid Closure
@Hammerbro Intellectual property. That's the real value these companies care about.

@AussieMcBucket Kis Kiss Bang Bang is an absolute, well, banger of a movie with RDJ and the great, late Val Kilmer working wonders together.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Play Zelda Games For The Story?
I mainly play Zelda games for the puzzles, action and sense of adventure because they're, well, puzzle action adventure games.
Re: Review: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream (Switch) - BREAKING NEWS: Mii Life Is Still Bizarre, Hilarious, And A Bit Samey
@datamonkey pokopia is a game, animal crossing is a dolls house and tomodachi life is a simulator, is how I break them down.
