This looks like an interesting variation along vaguely similar lines to Animal Crossing - with human beans instead of animals. I certainly saw some animals in there, but they looked like the none talking sort. This is a game I would pre-order. Want it!
Bit late in the day, but a very Merry Christmas all! There's still loads of food and game days left in the holidays. Thanks to NL and everyone for a load of laughs and to fellow users for being (mostly) a really great bunch. We survived the Mayans, but step forward the next Doom Prophet
Congratulations all three. I have to admit the winner gave me a real old fashioned belly laugh I agree about the ink problem. Could Nintendo just squeeze a little more into our letterboxes via some sort of update, please?
@tigermask:You do realize you can move your DSiWare game to the SD card when you need room on 3DS Internal memory, and then move it back when you want to play it?
I just switch my games around as desired. It is a bit of an annoyance, but a lot better than re-downloading them every time.
Having said that, it is time Nintendo made DSiWare playable from the SD card. Would it be that difficult to do?
Well, I had no idea! However, nothing about the man surprises me. He was great! We've been viewers of "The Sky at Night" for more years than I care to admit, but here's hoping it will continue for many more years presented by the rest of his team. I think he would admit he had a "good innings", but we will miss him and the enthusiasm he retained all his life.
Just registered for New Art Academy. I already have it on a retail cart, but it is the one game at present that I had felt would be good to have on my SD card. Just need to get a bigger SD card between now and January 1st.
@Tsuchinoko:Thanks, I checked the link and that looks a nice game, but I assume there's no way to download it to my EU 3DS XL. If there was, I suppose I might be able to play it, if I could find someone to teach me how (not being a reader of Japanese, sadly).
Many thanks Chicken for such a detailed review - now I know what the Rivers mode is about - not got round to that yet.
I have this game as a retail release here in the UK. $4.99, which is about 25% of what I paid a year ago, is good value for what sounds like the full version. I see one well known online site is now selling retail copies for £10.
@6ch6ris6: Well Mahjong is popular with many, just as zombi games are popular with others. I can't understand why anyone would want to do battle with putrid walking corpses. There's room for all sorts.
@Tsuchinoko: I want to learn to play real Mahjong on my handheld. Japan seems to have released a number of versions. When will someone bring one to the English speakers of the world?
Well, I love my silver 3DS XL, but if I WERE after a pink one, I actually think that's a lovely shade of pink - sorry Morphtroid!
Having said that, I do generally avoid possible gender specific colours in my technology, and it's pretty irrelevant as I live in the UK anyway.
PS Lets say I wouldn't be looking to sell it on if I won it in a raffle!
I can cope with the delay - computer programs often present unexpected snags. However, having sent Spotpass messages to everyone saying the games were now available, I do think they could have at least flagged the problem up on the website when it became obvious there was one. It would have saved a lot of folk wondering if they had a problem with their WiFi, 3DS, or their shiny new game cart.
PS It is a lovely game
I don't have any problem purchasing additional levels to extend a game like NSMB2, but I feel most strongly that games like Animal Crossing :New Leaf should come with all the frills in place. Working towards unlocking and collecting everything in the game is mainly what it's all about. Occasional DLC items, as with the extra puzzles that are promised with Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, should remain as freeby treats. These add to the game's appeal, but not having them doesn't spoil the overall enjoyment for those who don't have routine access to the internet, or funds for additional purchases.
I agree that a basic eReading App needs to be standard on the 3DS. It should accept ePub books, which is the main format for all eReaders now, apart from Kindle. It would be a real boon. I think it would be too complicated to design it for books which are covered by digital rights management, but there are thousands of out of copyright books readily available. eBooks would take up very little space on an SD card.
That is just so gorgeous, and all the new things to do. Sigh.... can't wait. Wild World didn't have disappearing grass - at least I never experienced it. I do hope it doesn't happen in this game. Oh, by the way Nintendo - pleease, pleease, make sure the Tatami Mat and Shoji Screen are in the EU release this time. I HATED getting a Dungeon wall and floor instead.
This would be well worth owning, if it was made compatible with Animal Crossing 3DS. Think of the time it would save pecking out friendship notes to the animals in your village - bane of my (Nintendo) life, that.
This looks a lot of fun - I do wish I wasn't so rubbish at rhythm games.
Have to try it if it comes to EU, though.
@ThomasBW84: Am I allowed to say, search YouTube for Ian Dury and the Blockheads - Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick?
I've never seen any of those, Damien. Thanks for that.I'm off to bed with my ribs well and truly tickled.
@SavageBlackWolf:The Young Ones were true classics
@Buckbanzai: I checked out that link you gave. It's worth a look just to read one or two of the reviews that were written (presumably by the manufacturer - they surely can't be kosher). They're hilarious Thanks for that.
@GuardianKing Well I hope he's not playing it in NoE's dungeons! The only reason I'm able to keep my impatience within bounds is because I keep telling myself they're polishing off every tiniest aspect of the game - down to each little flower, tree, pair of shoes, furniture set, animal comment, joke and event. Nintendo must know that this game is eagerly awaited by all AX fans from three to ninety-three, and they won't want to disappoint us. Fingers crossed!
Oooh! Just got to add my two pence here! A Wii console isn't on the cards in my home, but I've been drooling over Lost Winds and it's sequel ever since I read the reviews a few years ago. Please, Frontier, make it come to the eShop for Nintendo handhelds - preferably 3DS, but anything will do really. OK?
@BenjaminRosa: Three words: yes it was!
@WolfyWardark: Completely agree with everything you said. My silver model is a classy and elegant bit if kit. Love it!
I did my transfer yesterday evening with my fingers crossed after reading all the instructions at least four times over, and it all went just as described above. Absolutely everything was transferred to my 3DSXL exactly as it was on my 3DS. It all took some time, but it was fun watching the pikmin zooming about moving stuff around.
The one moment I found a little hairy was near the end where you are asked to move your original SD card from the source (3DS) to the target (3DSXL) - I hit the on-screen "OK" response button before I did the changeover, so I got a message up saying the "SD card is not recognized". This scared me until I realized I needed to have moved the card first, and then I wasn't certain whether I should turn off the power in case the card got corrupted in the switch. In the end I just went ahead and did it as quick as possible with both systems still powered on, which is presumably what is supposed to be done. The old card was instantly recognized by the target system, all the right Icons popped up, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Then the target system says it will connect to the internet, and this goes on for ages, but I suppose that's when it's chatting to the eShop to finalize the system transfer details.
Just saying the above so folks who will be doing all this over the next few weeks realize there are pretty good on-screen instructions and the transfer program actually works very efficiently.
Does anyone know whether The Kingdom of Plants trailer is one we'll be allowed to keep, or will it be erased after a number of weeks like the two short videos Nintendo issued for the 3DS on it's original release?
Lovely to see you James! I think I could easily accommodate this file on my 8GB SD card, but I really do like that box, manual and little cart with it's pretty picture in my hot paw.
First I said Ooooooooh! Then Noooooooooooooo! Then I sat down and had a little cry. Then I decided that was selfish, and how great it is for you and yours. I can't say how much I'll miss you popping by at just the right moment. All the very best for the future - just remember where Nintendo's Jiminy Crickets live.
Well, I don't mind US gamers getting Sakura Samurai in a sale, that's super. However, in the UK we're still waiting for it at ANY price! Does anybody know when it's coming to the EU eShop?
@PinkSpider I've just checked out that link you provided. Seems the larger screen works well on the 3DS XL. I can see myself considering selling my Aqua Blue 3DS as I've never really enjoyed the tiny screen and black shiny surround, especially with my DS games. I'm now really looking forward to getting one.
@Shotgunryugan You won't lose the games you purchased, unless you have to trade in your 3DS on the day to buy a 3DS XL. Nintendo provide a System Transfer tool which you find in System Settings/Other Settings. It transfers all your games, Miis etc., and someone in one of Nintendolife's Forums who has done it twice said it works perfectly. You could always sell your 3DS after that to get some of your money back if you wanted to.
Oh Bliss!! I can't wait. I might have to buy a 3DSXL just to play this. I just hope they don't do stupid things to the EU version like they did with Wild World - they substituted Saharah's Shoji Screen and Tatami Mat with a Dungeon Wall and Floor. Where was the logic in that for goodness sake! Why Nintendo.......? I had to import a US version and migrate all my characters to the new cart, just to make a proper Japanese theme room, but region locking will prevent that with the 3DS. Yes, I do know I'm crazy
Just want to add my thanks to James and all the team for the great E3 coverage. I was still up at 0145 and decided hang around for the conference and comments as I was convinced there would be SOME mention of AC3D. Big mistake! Lost an hour's sleep, then went to bed and cried into my pillow
Yeah! Like a lot of other folk - WHEN are we gonna get news about Animal Crossing 3DS. Why isn't it here yet?Do you think maybe it's been delayed because there are plans afoot to make it compatible with a Wii U Animal Crossing - so 3DS and Wii U owners could interact? Is that technically possible? That would be pretty amazing!

Re: Nintendo Direct: Watch The European Presentation Live
To coin a song phrase - You can't always get what you want!
Another six month wait for Animal Crossing - Boo Hoo....
Re: Nintendo Direct: Watch The European Presentation Live
I like Satoru and I think he does well with his English. He will get more fluent as the months go by.
Re: Feature: Taking Off to the Miiverse
I'll add my two pence here for us 3DS users - the sooner it comes to the handheld console the better. Let's all get to join in the Nintendo fun!
