Nintendo announced a lot before E3 and I think that is why some people were disappointed. Imagine how different it would be if they had come out and surprised us with Super Mario 3D World, Mariokart and A Link Between Worlds. I loved E3 and thought that the Nintendo Directs were far better then some lame conference full of awkwardness. Only let downs were the slightly underwhelming Mario and Donkey Kong games that don't look much different to past titles; ill be buying them though
Wow, that truly is awesome news. I didn't realise Animal Crossing, of all titles, would be so popular. Can't wait to see how Pokemon X & Y destroys the charts.
Great read, mirrors my feelings exactly. Donkey Kong Country 2 changed things up a whole lot and I just don't feel like this game is. It's like Tropical Freeze is the game Retro think DKCR should have been, not a sequel. I wanna see new environments at least or else the tedium will set in pretty fast. Where's the amusement parks or bee hives of DKC2? This game will be a blast but hopefully there's more to it then meets the eye.
I played NSMBU for 3 hours tonight... ON THE FREAKEN GAMEPAD! Cause my girlfriend was watching t.v. I love the gamepad. Seems Nintendo life posts a lot of articles like this... Seriously who cares what Time says.
A very polarising game, I think due to its simplicity. I for one freaken loved the 3DS version; timing based platformers I love! This review seems bang on regarding the Wii U version though.
@Funny_Moblin I've been tossing up for ages about that myself! There has been some news that Nintendo are finally sussing out an account system so it might be worth the risk. Animal Crossing is made to be on the system all the time Only other problem I have with downloadable games is that you can re-sell them. I downloaded NSMB2 because it was way cheaper of the Spain server then here in NZ, but, it is such a disappointing game (worst Mario ever, in my opinion) and I'm stuck with it. Sucks because Mario games always sell for lots. (I would never sell Animal Crossig btw)
@Funny_Moblin If they can repair it, then yes. If they can't and replace it instead, like mine, then no. That's why Nintendo needs an account system. If my iPad stops working and I buy a new one then I can just redownload everything that I've purchased before. My 3DS just randomly stopped working a year ago and it couldn't be fixed so they replaced it. I made sure I keeper my SD card and everything but didn't matter, I lost everything.
I think that Nintendo has made all the right moves. The only thing stopping the Wii U from killing it this Christmas is that Mariokart is coming in 2014.
@SkywardCrowbar Agreed Super Mario 3D World looks great, but it doesn't strike me as the definitive 3D Mario title for Wii U. We will get something else eventually, probably U-niverse.
@KongFu Yea I know that, of coarse it had some of the original songs but it still fell flat musical. No way near the audio impact of the original trilogy; it was quite a minor but common complaint against DKCR.
I saw about 5 seconds of footage for every 30 seconds of freezing. It was terrible and I have a great internet connection. I watched all of E3 up until then no problem. Still, I forgive you Iwata =)
Super excited for this. My only concern is that this looks mostly like a big retread of DKCR. Diddy's Kong Quest is how a sequel should be done. It dropped Donkey Kong for Dixie, changing how we played the game, but most importantly; the environments were far more creative. (bee hives, theme parks etc)
This looks cool!!! I can understand people being a little disappointed with this direct, but I am pumped! Lets face it, Nintendo blew there load early this year with all of there directs. The only real let down was the Retro announcement. Heck i'll buy Donkey Kong Country immediately, but it's not the killer game we were dreaming of. Still my disappointment is measured; my Wii U library is set to gain Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart, Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, Donkey Kong Country and Wonderful 101 by the end of the year. Plus i'll be getting Pokemon, Zelda and Dream Team for my 3DS. That's an insane amount of games!!!
I've worked it out and I'm fairly certain it's at 2am here in NZ. Good news is I don't have to call in sick at work, but, I am going to come in very tired
So excited! Particularly about the new 3D Mario. Dunno what it is, but mario just brings out the kid in me like nothing else. Can't wait!!!
@DarkToonLink I'm guessing your Australian, not a New Zealander. Yea we don't get any of that down here. I'm speaking from 20 years of experience. With Playstation, we get every game, at the same time everyone else does. Same with Xbox. I couldn't get Warioland 3 when I was a kid because they didn't bring it down here for ages. Seriously, everyone had SEGAs growing up, Nintendo has never bothered to build a profile for itself down here. I'm the biggest crusadr there is for Nintendo, I love them, so when I'm harsh about them you should know I'm telling the truth.
@Ukulele_Wizard It's just a Nintendo problem. Seriously, I've been a gamer since the NES era and Sega was way bigger then Nintendo down here in N.Z. There was no marketing for the NES or Snes at all. Being a Nintendo fan down here sucks! Nintendo just don't care about us. I have over 5000 club Nintendo points at the moment but were still only offered tea towels and shoe laces!
@SanderEvers that's a terrible attitude to have! Ubisoft has supported Nintendo more than anyone. If you want more games then you should support devs that are making great games, like they are. What a pathetic attitude.
@Nintendojuenger The idea of the Virtual Console excites me because it has the potential to become almost like a museum of gaming. We, and specifically Nintendo, have a responsibility to properly preserve there games. Why would anyone, especially a collector, want to keep them off the Virtual Console?
This looks soooo cool. They're clearly big Nintendo fans, this gam practically looks like it was designed in the 64 days (sept prettier) I want so bad!
I wanted white so got the basic model. So glad I did! No finger prints at all and it looks great I second hand copy of Nintendo Land and a simple USB stick later and I am sorted!
I like everything Ubisoft makes. They are one of the great 3rd party developers and they've supported the Wii U better then most. Heck that might have more games out for the Wii U right now then Nintendo does! So, as ridiculous as this Rayman fiasco was, I forgive them.

Re: Review: Sniper Elite V2 (Wii U)
Yep, might pick it up one day... If I find it in a bargain bin.
Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's Curious Decision to Monetise StreetPass
Doesn't interest me in the slightest. Seems if Nintendo was going to give its fans anything for free, it would be this.

Re: Review: Mutant Mudds Deluxe (Wii U eShop)
@TwilightV No way, lower for cheek points! Much lower!!! I must have died 20 times on the last level, but boy did it feel great when I beat it!

Re: Exclusive: Zelda's Aonuma: We're Looking Into Going "Beyond The Disc" With DLC
Man I'd love some DLC as long as it comes a while after the game is released and doesn't cost too much.
Re: Third-Party Characters in Smash Bros. to be Kept to a Minimum
Yea I don't want too many third party characters. Megaman and Sonic are musts, apart from that there should be room for maybe only one more.
Re: Review: Yoshi (Wii U eShop / NES)
For 30 cents I'm getting it but only so that if I ever sell my Wii U I can claim it comes with an extra game haha
Re: Nintendo Reveals When Wii Party U And Wii Fit U Will Become Available
None for thanks.

I choose Wind Waker HD because it remains the only Zelda I haven't played and I am beyond excited for it!!!

@brianvgplayer It has the hidden babies.
Re: Review: Mighty Switch Force! 2 (3DS eShop)
If I had to get this, or the first one, which should I get? This is a series I've been meaning to play but haven't yet.

Great news, the only thing DKCR lacked was the amazing music of the Snes titles.
