Thought it might have happened initially, but the timing of this direct now has me doubting…
But I wonder if he’ll put a date on the game for later this year (September/October) and then close the show by shadow dropping the original title onto Nintendo Switch Online?
For example, everyone is hyped for Remedy's Alan Wake II, but the last thing they put out was CrossfireX's single-player campaign. I think everyone knows how that went...
@OrtadragoonX It is very refreshing seeing a game release as it should be out of the gate.
In the case of Redfall, I don't believe it's had any patches yet (save for a tiny hotfix which didn't really do much). But I suspect it will take a few patches to get to where it should have been at launch...
Anyone know if Retro also worked on this Remaster, or if it was another team at Nintendo? I tried looking on the product page on the Nintendo website, and there's no mention anywhere who worked the Switch version.
@Lunatic002 True, but let's be honest. Platinum's best output in the last 3-4 years has come from Nintendo. Wonderful 101, Astral Chain, Bayonetta 3. They seem to be their best partner, and if they're open to acquisition offers, why not?
Honestly, with how much the two are working together I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo acquires PlatinumGames. The two seem to work well together, Platinum has said they're open to acquisitions, and perhaps Nintendo will snap them up before anyone else tries to.
@EarthboundBenjy I don't see why they don't just disable it pre-launch and then enable it again as part of a day-one patch to stop people that obtain it early from spoiling it.
@Mince I don't disagree. The problem is, until the basic rate changes, companies have no obligation to offer more than the minimum salary for the work they do.
And to be fair, judging by the rates for Bayonetta 2 she was paid more than the minimum rate for that project. But from the perspective of PlatinumGames, they offered above the rate offered for a typical role of this nature. It's a gaming issue, not just a PlatinumGames issue. They offered what seemed to them, a reasonable rate.
@Quarth No problem! I do wonder if she's a bit bitter about not getting more money though. She could have spoken about this as soon as she wasn't recast, why only talk 2 weeks before the game's launch?
@Quarth She apparently did the recording for Bayonetta 2 in 4 4 hour sessions (so 16 hours), so if they're paying her for the same quantity of recording, that's $4000 for 16 hours of work, i.e. $250 an hour (source: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1k7Cwr66O0 at the 7:40 mark).
Looking at the SAG-AFTRA Interactive Media Wage Table, $1000 for 4 hours work a day is more than the average rate, so assuming the same quantity of voice acting for the third game she was offered more than the standard industry rate.
With new details coming to light, I'm honestly not sure if I'm on the voice actor's side on this one.
Apparently she did all the voice acting for the second game in 4x 4 hour sessions (so 16 hours) and if that would be the same case for this third title, that would mean a $4000 flat rate (which she claims to have been offered) equates to $250 an hour. Seeing the YongYea video on the matter, this is the standard industry rate for how much work she did, so it's not an unreasonable amount.
Maybe voice actors should be offered more, but I would kill to be getting $250 an hour for 16 hours of work. It's hard not to see this as her simply being petty on the matter, especially when she releases this information less than two weeks before the game's launch. Why now? Why not when she was first approached about voicing the character again.
@mykblo116 That would be cool. My guess is that with next month being Halloween, they'll add characters like Boo or Dry Bones. Some themed items along with a new stage and music would be pretty rad.
Think others may have already said it, but the clock in the trailer seems to be 10:08, suggesting either an August 10th or October 8th release date (depending on whether they're going American or not with it). Hope it's August
@Bunkerneath Not to mention Bayonetta 3. If you also recall Nintendo's released Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Kirby's Dream Buffet recently, they've really got the second half of 2022 on lock!

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library Next Week
@Ulysses I guess I’d probably have to say Soul Calibur 2, although that’s quite a unique scenario.
That being said, there were rumours a month ago of Rayman 64 appearing on Switch Online, so perhaps we’ll know more at an upcoming Nintendo Direct?

Someone else has probably mentioned it, but to the writer of this article, you've misspelt Piranha twice in the article (at least from my counting).

Re: Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Dev Announces Hot Wheels Follow-Up
@thenikdavies Perhaps they had to pay a steep price for the Hot Wheels brand, so they're trying to recoup costs by hiking up the price?
Re: Review: SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake - The Best SpongeBob Platformer Yet
Interesting to see how the score varies between PureXbox, PushSquare and NintendoLife:
PureXbox: 4/10
PushSquare: 6/10
NintendoLife: 8/10
Wonder if it says something about the preference of games on the platform. That or I'm reaching at something here...
