Re: Review: Freedom Wars Remastered (Switch) - A Fair Reprieve For One Of PS Vita's Best

Lebest

@Count_of_Monte_Fisto here follows most of the changes:

Freedom Wars Remastered features 4K resolution, upgraded textures, 60 FPS, redesigned controls, an updated weapon crafting system, difficulty settings, new features for online play, a new "Deadly Sinner" high-difficulty mode, and customization options.

Alas it does not touch your concern, I guess we have to wait for the game to come out. It talks about but not specify the new online features. Wish you luck.

Plot pacing issues?

What issues exactly as the game describes you every detail of the story progression. Much better than any other plot progression like Persona, SMT games for example.

Performance problems and subpar environmental graphics?

The graphics are much better than the original and I have not seen any performance issues on my Switch Lite, not even during the flashy battles. Are you playing another version of the game?

Character progression feels too shallow?

Really??? How long did you play the game? The character progression is topnotch, you constantly feeling you are getting more and more powerful (combos, link combos, unison, extreme magic, awakening etc.). There are 3 skills trees for each character, there are support charaters etc.). So, what are you talking about??

@Polvasti so you are telling me that even if the reviewer is telling you what you know is wrong, you just accept it? Then you are as hard headed as the same person that reviewed the game.

Lack of diversity when it comes to dungeon and monsters design

Not true, over 200 monsters and unique designs. And the environment and dungeons are all well-designed.

The Farm has no personality

The personality is in what you farm (monsters) not the farm (Who cares about the farm personality in a monster breed/raise game?).

Combat is very simple for an action RPG

There is so much you can do in battles, like 4 monsters each button (assault/assemble), perfect guard, normal guard, unite blitzes, legion attacks, damage feedback, battle buddy compatibility, KO's attacks, fusion, over 100 fairy skills (passives) etc. Does this sound "very simple" to you?

@Polvasti I know how review works exactly, especialy the "NL Reviews", Persona 5 gets a 9, Zelda TOTK gets over a 9, while games much better gets a 6. So NL is not reviewing games based on "the game", but based on others thoughts and feelings towards a game. It is not the first time that NL does it, I mentioned a few examples, if you read my comments you should have seen it. Reviewers need to stop reviewing games based on marketing or other people's perception.

NL:

Lack of diversity when it comes to dungeon and monsters design *** ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT METAPHOR here? What more than Metaphor's lack of enemy diversity. ***

The Farm has no personality *** the personality are what you farm (monsters) not the farm (Who cares about the farm in a monster breed/raise game? ***

Combat is very simple for an action RPG *** Are you sure you play the game? There is so much you can do in battles, like 4 monsters each button (assault/assemble), perfect guard, normal guard, unite blitzes, legion attacks, damage feedback, battle buddy compatibility, KO's attacks, fusion etc. Does this sound "very simple" to you? ***

Stop misleading people, this is my review someone playing RPGs for 3 decades:

This game is TOPNOTCH!

  • Great anime graphics.
  • Fully voiced and one of the best VOs out there.
  • Sound & Music are FALCOM class, so know what I mean, best of the best.
  • Story looks great and interesting so far.
  • Villians with personality.
  • MC and allies with personality.
  • No dumb silent protagonist/MC (shaking his head to all).
  • Battles are a little complex but really fun and great, once you get used to it you'll love it. There are so many things to do in battle.
  • Again Voice acting is Sublime in English.
  • Performance is good so far, I have a digital copy on my Lite system memory, so no hiccups so far (although I am still early in).

What else could you ask from a game???

Re: Review: Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire (Switch) - A Pale Imitation Of The JRPG Classics That Inspired It

Lebest

@Jucemar Hi, I have some comments of people that are further into the game than I am:

I like the game alot but there's still major issues that need patching and the further in the game you get you can see patches are desperately still needed. Core mechanics are affected because of a number of bugs. Upgrading and maintaining your jets is rather pointless or i should say a pain as all the stats show 0 on everything, completely ruins a core and very important mechanic of the game atm. The buffs you can get from food are also botched atm because error msgs you get regarding them and makes another important system pointless right now

There's a number of other issues from small like quest markers not disappearing after completing or needing to reboot because the game is stuck in fast forward to rather big ones such as core elements of the game being completely broken that still need patching. I highly enjoy the game but no way would I rate this anywhere close to what you have when so many things in the game including core elements are still bugged out. The latest patch was a bare minimum fix, there's alot more needed including with core elements of the game that desperately need patching

If and when all the issues get fixed, I'll fully agree with your score, its a very fun and rather unique rpg but atm no way will I rate something so high even if i enjoy it when it still.has so many core problems, the game clearly wasn't finished when it launched. More patches are desperately needed and asap.

After patch:

  • Graphics/Visuals 8 out of 10.
  • Sound/Music 9 out of 10.
  • Control 7 out of 10 (still have issues with navigation).
  • Story 8 out of 10 (so far).
  • Battles 8 out of 10 (difference in difficulty Hard vs Normal is big).
  • Performance/Loading etc. 8 out of 10.
  • Value 8 out of 10 (~ 25 -30 hrs).

Thank you for the new patch.

Overall 8 out of 10. May get an 8.5 after fixing the minor issues.

Re: Review: Neva (Switch) - A Raw, Engrossing Platformer That Looks Incredible

Lebest

NL there are many people following your reviews, but pls watchout to not make people lose confidence in your reviews. No game and I repeat no game, on this planet that takes only 3 hours to complete in these modern days with so many many games out there, deserves a 9 out of 10, no matter how brilliant or amazing. Value is also a very important factor, I will never ever spend more than $ 2.99 for a 3 hours game. My standard is $ 1.00 per playing hour, meaning a standard $ 59.99 game should take ~ 60 hours to complete or a bit less with extra content after completion etc.

Re: Review: Sky Oceans: Wings For Hire (Switch) - A Pale Imitation Of The JRPG Classics That Inspired It

As always breaking a game with big negatives, this game is not perfect, dated visuals is not a minus. When ATLUS released the horrible performance SMT V, nobody made a big deal instead it was widely praised. Remember ATLUS is a AAA company and because an Indie dev releases a game with similar performance issues and everybody is ready to crash and trash. This game is an easy 8 out of 10 if some issues are fixed/patched. This is not Skies of Arcadia, and who says it was???

Re: Review: Megaton Musashi (Switch) - Level-5's Import-Only Mecha Monster Deserves A Localisation

Lebest

Endless amounts of Persona-tier chit chat
Awkward 2D characters moving around a 2D/3D plane

*****Persona does not set the standard for anything, so that is not a con.

Battles are seriously repetitive

*****Same as Persona and many other games. Battles are really fun with lots of options.

Marionette-style animation looks sharp but feels dated and limiting

The animations are top notch.

Re: Review: Fate/Samurai Remnant - Musou Evolved, With Patchy Switch Performance

Lebest

@nimnio your logic sucks, a score of 9 is a 9. The name of the game has nothing to do, if you are a reviewer and you give Vampire Survivors a 9 and you give TOTK a 9, that means that you as a reviewer are saying that both games are same good. What would be the purpose of giving a score that a 9 is not always a 9, but it depends on if you are reviewing a AAA game or an indie game.

Re: Review: Fate/Samurai Remnant - Musou Evolved, With Patchy Switch Performance

Lebest

@Dualmask tell that to Metacritic, many people use scores as indicators whether to buy a game or not. An inadequate review may lead to less people buying a good game. Subjective do matter, a number is never only a number, a number always leads to results.

A review needs to be objective and sorry this review isn't objective. When I read the review its contents should have led to a higher score than a mere 7.

The performance issues on Switch is being exaggerated and on Switch Lite, non-existent.

Re: Review: Fate/Samurai Remnant - Musou Evolved, With Patchy Switch Performance

Lebest

@Dualmask I am a financial analyst, my job is all about numbers, a score is a score and as far as I know, a 9 is higher than a 7, meaning a game that scores 9 is better than one that scores a 7, otherwise what would be the purpose of giving scores? It's like saying student A gets a 7 and student B gets a 9 and student B is not better than student A. You want to break logic my friend.
