Well, the lack of multiplayer surely can be off-putting. I myself will buy the Wii version when I decide to stop boycotting Ubisoft for DRM sake, partly because of multiplayer component.
Besides - isn't that just technical? Seems the engine they are using to run the game accross all consoles lacks any kind of network code, and they decided that adding this is not worth the time and money. Which, in fact, could be very true.
The game looks mediocre at best, at least based on what we can see in this trailer. Maybe the gameplay itself wlll be interesting enough to keep players hooked, but otherwise... Well, I don't see myself getting this.
This stand is looking very interesting. If it is available here in Europe I will certainly get the game, partly for the stand itself, because I'm fed up on playing games such as Metroid Prime: Hunters while holding the console with one hand and using the stylus with another. It simply destroys wrists, and it's great that someone finally thought that a little 'help' here would be more than welcome.
Wel, actually this is not a video, but a realtime rendering. Everything else is simply rendering stuff to a viewport based on gyroscope data from the tablet. No magic here, but surely an interesting way of using things that exist for a long time now.
There is one particular reason why Nintendo does not want to upscale games. Some of them, like Skyward Sword for example, use various effects that are hard coded for 480p. This is why latest Zelda installment does not show depth of field effect in Dolphin - the shader is written to work with only one specific resolution and it won't render properly with any other. Fixing that would require quite a bit of coding and it's simply not worth it.
And besides - what is with that upscalling stuff anyway? I always saw it as pointelss, even in case of movies. If something is great in low resolution, why do we need to upscale that? Won't change a thing... So bottom line - I don't really care, resolution means nothing.
I think this is the best version of the game - barebones, nothing it shouldn't be and everything it should. I never really liked all those new Tetris variations, so I might give this a shot when it comes out. ;]
Certainly getting "Mighty Switch Force" and Swapnote. As for Tetris - I still have the original game somewhere (along with the rest of my GameBoy stuff) and I will take it into consideration. That Metal Slug clone also looks nice, and I want to check out MotoHeroz - this demo is long overdue... So much stuff before Christmass!
Wether I buy that or not highly depends on the quality of this version. I kind of like pinball games, so if it turns out reasonably crafted, I might get that.
If that was a joke, it was the single least funny one I've ever heard, seen or otherwise percieved in my entire life (a few years more than quarter of a century as of now). I'm not saying that there is no problem of brutal animal treatment and all that, but when a Mario-Tanooki-slaughter tie-in appears, you know that someone took the wrong pill...
Seems like a must have. And I've already hit my gaming purchases limit this month... Oh well, I guess it'll fit nicely in December budget. Great review by the way!
Well, for anyone who has the Ambassador games this is redundant, and I doubt if anyone else would really want to pick up this version.
Sometimes I just can't get my head around Nintendo throwing junk on the 3DS VC while great games like Donkey Kong Land and Metroid II (I know I'm repeating myself) are kept in the dark. If somebody can explain the logic behind it then be my guest...
Oh damn. I never EVER could find a single copy of this in my whole country, nor in any european game store I know of. Looks like I will have to import it from the US somehow... Damn that... ;/
I'll skip that thing - 3DS has enough battery life for my needs and added bulk would ruin the idea of 'handheld' for me.
As long as the system can provide enough juice for one day of gameplay bursts without chargint, then it's fine by me. And 3DS does that, so I see no point in carrying this thing around. And I imagine that for longer trips you will always have a socket of some sort nearby...
Stalking? On Twitter? Well, if you insert your photo and use actual namer rather than nick then sure, it's easy then. It all boils down to using it reasonably. Now Facebook, that's stalker's delight...
But I digress. Never really entered such contests, but well, I guess there's nothing wrong in trying. escapeVektor is an interesting game after all.
Sure, keep on whining... First of all - Machinarium can be played on virtually any PC, underpowered laptops included, and it's cheap, so there is really no need for a more expensive Wii/PSN/XBLA edition...
Secondly - 40MB is not much, but keep in mind that Wii released a few years ago already and it was never intended to be downloadable content powerhouse. Besides - there is a ton of WiiWare releases that manage to impress despite the limitation. MotoHeroz, Fast, Lost Winds... I think it's not about the limitations themselves, but about developers being lazy and not willing to optimize their games anymore.
But yeah, keep on whining about those 40 megabytes... Mahinarium is a 2D flash-based game, taking up 350 megabytes of drive space (just checked). Geez, where are those times when we could stick an entire 3D shooter with one expansion inside that space?
@SimonB79 - yeah, I wish they did that, but considering the fact that those GBA games were supposed to show up "before the end of the year" I wouldn't expect them to show up before december rolls in.
As for the games - nothing that I want, though Adventure Island looks interesting. I really hope that we will get Metroid II at some point. It's over a month now since it was released in Japan and no word about EU/US has been spoken...
Now I'll have to buy a second 3DS and hope that I'm able to transfer stuff from my Aqua Blue and sell it to someone... Sheesh... Why couldn't we have white systems back on the release day?
This messaging system looks like Nintendo's take on MMS. Should be enough to set up multiplayer sessions and share some pics/screens/idiotic sounds with friends. :] Looking forward to it.
Also - 3D Classics Kirby's Adventure is something I will surely get as soon as it appears, because I own the NES original on my Wii's VC and I'd love to see it re-made into 3D-pixel-art and made portable.
Now if only NoE could tell me when Metroid II is coming, I'd be almost compensated for my Aliens: Infestation order not being delivered before weekend. Sour about those post office delays... ;/
@Tech101 - they don't want a simple conversion apparently, so a quick and dirty port from DSiWare is out of question. And it wouldn't even make sense to do something like that - the DSi version is available on eShop. If they are indeed making a new game then the wait is actually not very long I'd say.
@JakobG - I believe that it should be spelled "speed", with the second "e" substituted by "3" for a more l33t feel.
I intended to get the original AiRace for my 3DS until I saw this. Might be a good idea to hold back after all. And with online multiplayer things should be pretty interesting...
I really hope that white version will be available in Europe too, along with "3DS System Transfer" tool. I would totally switch my blue system for this baby any day!
What the eff? Where is Metroid II? If Nintendo made Return of Samus Japan-only game, I'll be seriously pissed off... And I am certainly not getting Catrap, couldn't care less for this game...
Are those the same trailers that were relesaed a while ago (well, except the Tennis one), or completely new versions? I still don't see anything on european eShop yet though...
I somehow managed to get all four of them earlier, and I don't remember being on TGS... Oh well, mysterious mysteries aside it's nice to have some official stuff, for collecting sake. The Miis are quite nice too.
@grumblegrumble - I know it allows me to play solo, they brag about it all over the Internet (well, almost), but the key feature in Four Swords was always the multiplayer. The singleplayer mode is, as far as I know, only a small add-on. So I really do not consider myself "in luck" on this one.
And I will say meh. First - there is no online multiplayer in Zelda, and I have noone around my place to play that with, so basically this will loose about 75% of it's appeal. Secondly, and I know most of you will want to burn me at stake for that - I'd like Metroid II more than 6 Golden Coins, for the collector's sake. But I guess I will have to wait for this one. Rant aside - pretty solid stuff coming up this week.
Considering theese numbers it's quite curious why investors are panicking so much and suggesting that Nintendo should stop making hardware. And I constantly hear from gamers in my area that "3DS is dying"... Except it's not.
TWIN-BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! My credit card is ready for this! Also Cut the Rope looks like a fun little game, but I think I'll wait for a review on this one. Now I only need Metroid II to show up on 3DS VC and I can die happy...
Well, it's probably a control option, so I see no problem here. I might even get that, but I wonder - why Nintendo didn't put a second circle pad on their handheld in the first place? It's not good to add such an accessory half a year after the console comes out.
Oh, yeah, it's also good that the thing has it's own power supply. I think I still have a pair of spare Ni-MH rechargable AAA's somewhere.
My wallet is so ready for that. And it's great that it is coming out as a full retail game instead of DSiWare - they have much more room for stuff that way. Can't wait!
I guess it's good I didn't get the DSiWare Tetris Live, as this seems, well, at least a tad superior. I think I'll get this - Tetris never gets old and it's great to see a game that uses almost every new feature of the 3DS, and AR too!
Well, that would be like 4th copy of the original Metroid for me (I got one from Wii Virtual Console, one as unlockable from Metroid Prime GC disc and one more unlocked on Metroid - Zero Mission cartridge for GBA) and second Zelda copy (the other is from Wii VC), but still does not look that bad. I never expected NES games released for ambassadors to be all that awesome. It'll do.
@Geonjaha - as far as I know there will be no confirmation tool for Europe, I guess it has something to do with privacy regulations differing among all the countries in the EU or something. Still - it's just two days to go and already too late to "fix" any potential issues with that, so I see no point.
@WaltzElf - Youre funny to the point of being silly, as all the Apple fans are. Not intending to start a war here, but really - Apple's products are neither innovative nor competetive in terms of performance and build quality, while functionality often suffers. And while some of these are also true for Nintendo, this company also tends to really innovate the industry, not only claim to do so.
