It still won't surprise me if they try to launch this thing before Christmas. They've gotta be trying to do it, given the sales they'll enjoy.

with the record sales of the wii last year, I'd think they'd try and get one more grand year out of it, and if the 3DS did come out, Wii sales would fall.

I can see this as a rumour. Or doing all of this and then surprising everyone with a Holiday release or January 2011.

Anyways, consider hope restored but we're back to where we began after E3: "3DS release in all markets by March 31, 2011."

Also, I was in fact stunned that they would forgo a holiday release. The Wii and original DS enjoyed mega-success when they were released in their debut November months.

I hope by " amistake", they don't mean later in the year.

I'm going to take this as being "pleased" it MIGHT come this year. Boy, I hope....lol.

This is what I hate about Nintendo is all this release nonsensce. I dont care, just get it too us at some point at a reasonable price point and stop all the rumor crap.

I did begin to suspect that Reggie might be wrong when I went to the EB Games Australia website and they had 3DS consoles for pre-order (in red and blue) for $350 each. Could this mean that my most unlikely of assumptions is to be proven correct? Could us Aussies and Kiwis really be getting the 3DS first? Why else would EB post the 3DS at a certain price so soon? With confirmed colours I might add! _{Oops, I just did add.}

He probably has kids and was thinking of next school year.

Hmmm... well, I certainly won't complain if it's ready for the holiday season. Just make sure it IS ready. =)

Ok now that 2010 is back in the market, let me remind you that Gameboy Advance hit in 2001, SP hit 2003, then DS hit a year later soooo anything's possible but I say it's a fall release like DS was.

$299 is a reasonable price? Are you serious? This whole site exploded over the $249 pspgo price. But because it's Nintendo its reasonable? I refuse to pay that!

Well the PSP go was basically a smaller PSP that's digital download only(no UMD's) to prevent piracy. People got upset because the price was too much for them for a psp with not enough changes to justify it's high price, and the other versions are below $150.

The 3DS though Is a different beast compared to the DS, Its not a revision but a successor. Would you expect to get a Handheld that sports a impressive 3D screen and an improved touch screen, 3 cameras, Motion sensors, etc. to be at the same price as the DS?

AUS dollars converted to $299 US is reasonable for some one in Australia. It would likely be much less in the US than converted AUS dollars. It would likely be $199 I would think.

I'd pay $300 in a heartbeat for the 3DS. Even at $300, this thing will likely sell like crazy.

Who should I believe, the president of Nintendo of America or some "anonymous source"? Besides, they did not say he was wrong, and coming out in the first three months of 2011 is still 2011. There is no chance of the 3DS coming out this year.

I doubt it will be more than 200$ any more and it will end up alienating casual audiences who probably don't have 300$ to spend and a handheld video game console no matter revolutionary it is.

Oh well. I prefer to wait until either August or September 2011.
