It is inevitable. Nintendo can either make a start next gen or get left behind again. It will make games cheaper for everyone eventually, so I welcome it.
If it wasn't that popular maybe there weren't as many copies printed as the other games you mentioned, and that's why they feel the need to put some more out there. It could have a cult following.
I've never really liked GAME, but I will be sad to see GameStation go despite not having shopped there in many years. What's going to happen when this black hole opens up? With HMV on the backfoot as well, it looks like the UK retail market is in for some tough times. I can only see an American company coming in and taking over. In the mean time this Mario Party thing is going to hurt it's sales BAD, which is another shame.
I love having the physical game, but when it comes to digital downloads I think the positives far outweigh the negatives. One day when all games are digital and there is a rating system, video games will finally be judged and ranked honestly by the people who own them. Truely great games will never again go unheard of, no matter how small the studio or obscure the idea. There will also be demos for everything, so shovelware will never again prevail. Without retail, a lot of developers will be free to set their own price, so smaller games will cost a lot less. Case in point: Trials HD for XBLA costs about £10. I've had more fun out of it than most retail games in the last five years. Also it has sold over 2million copies, and the sequel looks to be about 10 times better for the same price.
I'd prefer one of the original Mario Karts, the ones with the bar chasis, remember them? And I'd rather it be petrol powered. ...basically I'd rather have an actual go-kart.
Just give me a working online mode and I'll be over the moon. Brawl was such a let down after 3 years of waiting for the online play they promised at E3 2005.
Sadly, graphics still sell games. And the best graphics are found on the PS3 and 360, so that's where third parties go. Until Nintendo matches the top-end systems it won't get the Call of Dutys or FIFAs that people actually want. Whatever the case, they could never be too reliant on their own games. It's the only real edge they have over the competition.
I think this was better than the other Turtles games. It actually had variety in it's gameplay and wasn't just another generic scrolling beat 'em up. It definitely deserves more than a 3.
I think this was better than the other Turtles games. It actually had variety in it's gameplay and wasn't just another generic scrolling beat 'em up. Shame it's gone, but I already have it on my NES so...
Delegating major franchises to other staff members shouldn't take too long: "So that's Mario and Zelda delegated..." "Ok, what's next?" "That's it. No one cares about the rest." "What about Star Fo-..." "Nooope"
It was acceptable in the 90s... Seriously, the more buttons, more lights, more wacky add-ons you had on your handheld/stereo stack/vcr, the richer you looked back then. Loving that Booster Boy, it's like an Iron Maiden for your Game Boy.
YES A MILLION TIMES. Everyone will be doing it in not too long, time to make a start now. This will make games cheaper for everyone. I doubt for one minute Nintendo will reduce the price of their titles in download form, but third parties will have space to do so and hopefully lower prices will mean more exposure for the lesser known games. A rating system and demos would also help.
That's more than enough power. MS and Sony might exceed it, but for what? A couple more generic first person shooters and racing sims. The retail market has already become stagnant in the persuit of higher graphics and higher development budgets. If it gets any worse there'll just be three or four big time publishers left, cramming the same tripe down our throats. Downloadables are the future, independent developers creating fresh new ideas because they can. WiiU should be more focused on winning them over than the multi billion dollar behemoths.
Totally called this. I'm glad they learned from the 3DS' mistake. But like BulbasaurusRex said, Wii owners are getting screwed over for another whole year. Makes me glad I got a 360 last year. :/
Well they don't really have any new new characters to add since Nintendo haven't come up with any new character based franchises since Pikmin. :/ If they could just fix online, I'd buy it.
I kinda agree with Kirk actually. It looks like it's set in the Minecraft universe. Whether that's intentional or not is up in the air. But with the limitations in mind, they could have just used sprites and probably fit loads more zombies on the screen at once. Looks like it might be fun though, just a shame about the visuals.
@brandonbwii Agree, anything that shakes Nintendo up in this department has my blessing. Downloadable games are the future, whether they like it or not. If they don't pull their weight now, they're going to slip back to third place and stay there.
I can see the possibilities of this panorama function, but I don't see it as a convenience, rather a gimmick at this stage since you could just turn the stick without moving your body. When they can put this technology into a helmet/goggles though... Then you've got virtual reality. ...kinda
@my_point_is Pretty lousy is an understatement, to buy a NES game you need to convert 2000 stars, that's about 8 Wii games. Personally I'd rather choose from a small list and actually get something decent every 3 games or so.
Gah, I was totally excited until I saw 'Nintendo of America' First the 150 coins range now this, you guys really are being spoiled. I have no doubt if this many demos had been left online from when they first released, WiiWare would have done much better.
I really hope this isn't true, otherwise we're moving into an age where consoles don't really improve but you're forced to buy them just because the old ones aren't being supported anymore. Whatever Microsoft and Sony come up with graphically is not going to blow the masses away I can almost be certain. Unless they take a Nintendo approach and come up with some radical new control scheme people won't want to buy it. They would be better off just sticking with the current hardware and giving it more software support. Nintendo on the other hand has to release a new system now the Wii is starting to lose ground.
That's what I'm always saying. It's why Zelda and Mario games are always so good. This is how people used to make games before graphics caught up and everything became about cutscenes and storylines.
Not the most credible studio to reflect how the service is doing as a whole, but without regular trials (from the beginning) and price drops, and a lack of incentive for people to actually connect their Wiis to the internet, I don't see even the best games doing all that well. By contrast Xbox Live Arcade has several games that have broken the million mark. Nintendo better step up with the WiiU, and I mean a lot more than they did with 3DS.
2011 was the weakest year for the Wii so far. I don't know if it's because they shifted all their focus onto 3DS or the WiiU or both, but it really was an appalling time to be a Nintendo home console fan.
What I want to know is if they plan to re-release all the Virtual Console games again in HD, and will they provide a free upgrade for those who already have the standard definition versions.

so did this guy stab a puppy in the face or something?

I love the box art, same guys that did Mario Galaxy 2 surely.
Re: This is Meloetta, Pokémon Number 648
I'd hit that..
Re: What's New in Mario Party 9? This Trailer Knows
Looks fun. I'm gonna rent it first though since Mario Party games can be hit or miss.

Re: New SNES Title On the Way in 2013
If it is an unreleased game from 1995, I wish they'd do the same for Star Fox 2. (and risk the wrath of Nintendo's lawyers)
Re: Review: 2 Fast 4 Gnomz (WiiWare)
You didn't mention the multiplayer!
Is it the same as Gnomz 1? or is it more of a co-op game now?
How does it stack up to it's predecessor?

Kid Icarus again, Tennis, an RPG, another RPG and Brain Training.
Wake me up when they have some WiiU news.

ExciteBots for Europe, yaaayyy!

cough living in denial
Thing is I'm not sure what they could accomplish now even if they did come back to Nintendo with most of the main guys gone.

Chuckle brothers? :/
Re: Talking Point: The Future of Pokémon
Go back to having just 151 Pokémon, balance them more fairly, and make it online and I would be interested.
But that's not gonna happen.

Re: Nintendo Wants to Keep Old Titles Fresh with DLC
Good. Nintendo should be releasing more DLC than anyone else with the amount of time they sit on games without releasing new ones.
Re: Mario Kart Wii Races Past 30 Million Sales Milestone
All the more reason they should start launching their systems with Mario games again.
Re: Nintendo Network Will Get Competitions and User Communication
Sounds good. Just add demos to that list and it'll be perfect.
Also free video chat would be awesome.
Re: Iwata: "Wii U Will Be At its Best at Launch"

Also make sure the console is actually online ready for third parties.
