@ravenua I’m wondering if your game is closer to Overcooked or to Moving Out?
Playing Overcooked, I found that the game became way too stressful after the first few stages, even while playing with a long-time gaming friend. Whereas with Moving Out, I played it with my non-gaming sister and had a hilariously good time.
This may have been due to the different ways the games use time limits. Overcooked had a set time limit to complete the stage, as well as other micro-time limits on each of the tasks in a level (i.e. burning the food after leaving a pot on the stove for too long). Moving Out had no set limit, with the only penalty being the amount of stars you get for going faster.
From looking at the trailer, it seems like strict time limits are part of the game. Removing them may be antithetical to the overall game design. I’m just wondering if you might include a casual mode, removing the time limits, so that players of less ability will be able to play it, or — in my case — play games to relax instead of stressing out.
And I understand completely if this can’t be done! Not every game is for everyone.
I wish you all the luck on your upcoming release, and thanks for dropping by the comments section of this site! I think it’s something more developers should do. 😊
@tseliot I would’ve said the same thing no matter what line of work they were in. This just happens to be a videogame website, so the people I was talking about are videogame developers. Which is a real job that people do to make a living for themselves, not just construction work, which you seem to be implying is the only type of job that is actual “work” because it requires physical strain.
No matter what job you work at, working long overtime hours, seven days a week is going to affect your health, mentally and physically. A human body needs rest to continue to function, whether you’re a lumberjack, a doctor, or an accountant. Workplaces that don’t take this into account are bad workplaces.
And the quality of the game they’re making is irrelevant. I jokingly suggested that it made the stress that they’re going through even worse when it’s a crappy product (in both of our opinions anyway) that would be the end result. That is irrelevant. They are people, and they are people that are working hard to create a game that a lot of people enjoy, and makes a lot of money for their employer. Money that they may never see because they are most likely paid a regular salary, while the executives at the company are getting bonuses when the games sell well.
A little bit of empathy goes a long way. People should learn to realize that just because someone is sitting at a computer all day doesn’t mean that their work is less valid than the person digging ditches for a living. Just because some people are overworked in one job and don’t complain about it doesn’t mean that nobody else should have the right to ask for a good work environment. It should be expected, and fought for, in every line of work.
But in all seriousness, we need better labour laws to prevent this kinda crap from happening. No one should have to destroy their mental and physical health just to make incremental changes to the game they’ve been releasing for the past 15 years.
At least one season pass (titled season pass 1, suggesting multiple season passes)
Drive pass (aka Battle pass)
Two types of currency (one costing real money)
Live service
Game marketed at children
The only thing they’re missing is loot boxes. Which they would have put in there if they weren’t starting to be regulated in some countries. Absolutely one of scummiest things I’ve ever seen, and that’s saying a lot, given how much this stuff has been normalized in recent years.
I love Lego, and I love racing games, but I won’t be buying this game, because I wouldn’t be able to boot it up without feeling like the game is constantly trying to reach into my wallet.
2001 would be my year. Keep in mind that I was a mainly PlayStation gamer. But check some a these out:
Grand Theft Auto III Ico Gran Turismo 3 Metal Gear Solid 2 Silent Hill 2 Halo Devil May Cry SSX Tricky Advance Wars Final Fantasy X Super Smash Bros. Melee Conker’s Bad Fur Day Jak and Daxter Unreal Tournament Max Payne Red Faction
That’s a pretty big year. Even if not the best year, at least a highly influential one.
I’m actually one of those “hardcore” people that were mentioned, in that I have my TV installed with a rotating wall mount. Unfortunately, the main console I game on is the PS5, and even games that have a TATE mode on Switch don’t have one on other consoles.
It sucks because I bought a lot of pinball tables on PlayStation before I got a Switch, and I don’t want to buy them all again (not to mention the increased resolution and performance). I know that it’s not no work to add features into a game, but I don’t think it would be too hard to have feature parity across the different versions of the games.
Saying all this, knowing that I’m one of a very few that would use the feature on something other than a Switch.
Just put in my entries. Kinda disappointed with the jacket design, though. I mean, it’s a nice-looking jacket, and you’d be able to wear it without looking like a complete dork. But I think they could’ve gotten away with putting some Samus armour colours on there and still have it look good.
I think the idea of the bullet-hole-through-glass for the NA cover was good, but not executed well. Maybe if the logo wasn’t on top of the design it might have been better.
I liked the European cover better. It still shows the 7 characters, but in a much cleaner way.
And I don’t know what they were thinking with the Japanese cover. How they thought “put the logo on top of ugly wallpaper” was a good design is beyond my comprehension.
You just started the game. You haven’t fired your weapon yet. Unless you’re playing on the highest difficulty, you haven’t even seen an enemy yet. But that music kicks in, and you are PUMPED.
Very high up the list of all-time best video game beginnings, just based on the music alone.
Like others have said, the NA cover looks like a comic book. Though I would argue that the Japanese design looks more like a comic book cover, whereas the NA one looks more like a page you would find inside the book.
That being said, I still liked the NA cover better. Go figure 🤷♂️
@EaglyTheKawaiiShika This is the internet. You won’t have to look too hard to find people that agree with you. Some are even here in this comment section. I’m not one of them mind you, I think the game looks terrible, but to each their own.

“This just in: Ubisoft is a sucky place to work.”
“We can also report: water is wet.”

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel: Metroid Fusion
Neither are great. But Samus’ legs look really goofy on the Japanese box, so I went with NA.

Re: Feature: Samus' Suits, Ranked - Every Metroid Box Art Suit Design, From Worst To Best
@sketchturner I have that Figma as well. Definitely the best overall design.
Re: Feature: Samus' Suits, Ranked - Every Metroid Box Art Suit Design, From Worst To Best
The Dread suit design is probably the best, but I prefer the original colour scheme. So I chose the Other M design as a good compromise between them.
And the Fusion suit looks awful to me. It would be on the bottom of my list.

At Doom’s Gate, E1M1 from the original DOOM.
