Re: Talking Point: Is the Nintendo Switch a Handheld or Console? Does it Matter?

HefHughner

I think I will probably never play this outside of my living room. The reason is psychological... The type of games I will play on the Switch once i get one are games I cannot enjoy outside. Tried to play Ocarina 3D on a morning train ride and it was a horrible experience playing this surrounded by strangers. Couldn't concentrate or feel immersed.

Had no problems playing Gameboy games anywhere as child. Strange...

Re: Dragon Quest VIII Begins Its UK Chart Journey in Top 20

Lets hope Nintendo und SE look at the sales and finally tell us if and when the four Dragon Quest games for Switch will be released in the US and Pal-Territories.
Not worried about the two Heroes games, because they have western releases on PS4, but I doubt X and XI will make it.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Switch Presentation Summary

HefHughner

I thought nothing could stop me from pre ordering the Switch, but this presentation did a very good job. I think i'll wait till 2018.

...no Metroid, no mention of other dormant franchises
...thin launch-lineup
...no Mario on launch or within the first months
...1,2 Switch: a minigame collection only good to show of all the gimmicks no one asked for
...nothing about the virtual console
...a paid online service that only gives you one nes or snes game per month... that is beyond pathetic
...Fifa, Skyrim... Nothing I haven't played to death on pc or other consoles.

Breath of wild looked absolutely fantastic, but I can get this on Wii U.

Wow. I'm shocked. And i'm shocked not many more people are shocked

Re: More Switch Rumours Emerge Online

HefHughner

@Dizzard Not 100% sure, but i think it has something to do with the poor sales and restrictions of the DS GTA game Chinatown Wars.

I also remember an add in one of the (GTA in-game) radio stations about Lab Rat Kart Racing, obviously making fun of Mario Kart.

I'm excited about the record-button. Lets hope it lets us record and/or stream to Twitch without many restrictions and is not limited to 2 minute Miiverse clips or something like that.

Re: Koji Igarashi on How Bloodstained Will Utilize Procedural Generation

HefHughner

@greengecko007 I agree. IGA was very honest about his concerns for months, so a cancellation wouldn't be a surprise. He will switch to the Switch.

In general: Could we please have one more news article that declares the cancellation of all Wii U games still "in development"? As a fan of the system it's so sad to wake up to a new cancellation message every day.

Re: European Wii U and 3DS eShop Cyber Deals Now Confirmed

HefHughner

I live in Germany. The Amazon Cyber Monday week is utterly disappointing from a Nintendo fan perspective. At least, I thought, Nintendo would offer some good discounts, but again, nothing special... 4 games each. Can't believe it.

It really feels als if Nintendo doesn't want to us to buy too many games (especially on Wii U), to keep us all hungry for the Switch launch.

Re: Poll: The Wii U is Four Years Old, But What Is Its Legacy?

HefHughner

1. I bought the Wii U in September and I love it. Mario Maker and Splatoon alone let me forget I own other consoles.

2. The problem of the Wii U is/was the lack of more first party system sellers. When the big publishers and developers abandoned the Wii, Nintendo stepped in and delivered one big game after another. Two 3D Mario games, two Zelda games, two Metroid games, the return of DKC...

It seems as if the install base was too small for Nintendo to repeat this strategy.

3. The way we look back on the Wii u will be determined by how well the Switch performs. If it tanks, everyone will look back to the Wii U as the last great Nintendo console. If the Switch is going to be a success and delivers a better experience of the Wii Us big games, like Mario Maker and Splatoon, no-one but video game historians will care about the system.

Re: Reminder: Fresh New Nintendo 3DS XL Colours Out Now in Europe

HefHughner

@clvr Nintendo uses two different display types: IPS and TN. IPS displays have a superior quality, although TN displays aren't as bad as often described.

As far as i know, there is no method to be sure what display you get when you buy a New 3DS Xl, but some people believe certain models, like the special editions, are more likely to have an IPS display.

I was hoping Nintendo would only use IPS displays, but the situation still seems to be same it was.
