Just in time for the holidays and to celebrate the impending release of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, Nintendo UK has updated its official website dedicated to the JRPG. Sharing more details of what players can expect on their perilous journey, the webpage explains the premise, controls and new features exclusive to the 3DS release.
As a catch-up if you missed previous reports, new features include a camera mode, where you can take images of you and your allies on your adventure; further cutscenes revealing new plot information and two brand new characters, Red and Morrie, are also included. Arriving on 20th January 2017, it's worth looking around the updated website here if you want a full batch of information.
Also, if you missed it last week, there's another look at a feature trailer below:
Are you looking forward to the western release of Dragon Quest VIII?

I'm brand new to DQ. VII on 3DS was my first experience and I continue to enjoy it. From everything I read VIII is considered one of the best in the series and I am very excited to get my hands on a 3DS copy on day 1.
I'm really, really glad a DQ classic such as VIII is coming to 3DS, while also enjoying the irony of said game being known as one of the great PS2 games. I shouldn't really think about the irony that much, though, because it would remind me of the Square Enix games that not only are still a Sony exclusive, but are also not going to leave home consoles period anytime soon:
In case the "Sora" in my username wasn't kind of a dead giveaway.
Too bad it will not feature stereoscopic 3D.
Now SE needs to bring DQ XI to the west and port Dragon Quest Builders to the Switch. That would be awesome.
The voices sound a bit muffled in a way, I guess it should sound better on the system itself but at least have captions. Still have a long ways to go in DQ7, haven't got to Alltrades Abbey yet. Maybe it will be on sale in a year?
I have this game on PS2 and I never finished it because I was too scared at the time, I'll be getting the 3DS version because the portability and extra features are great. I'll hopefully beat the PS2 version one day too. I also have the meh android version but I'd never finish that. January is set to be a good month, between this, Switch and my birthday. 2017 looks better already.
@AlexSora89 Your username leads me to believe you were born in 1989, and you are 27 years old.
@abbyhitter
You're correct! Sora was the missing part. Oh, and my real name is Alessandro, in case you were wondering.
I skipped VII, but preordered this, the exact opposite of what I originally planned to do.
...oh well. The trailers kind of sold me. It looks very fun.
This is a day 1 buy for me. Loved it on the PS2 and put in a ton of hours in it. Looking forward to its release date.
But i'm only 40 hours into VII....
TOO. MUCH. RPG...
Just kidding, preordered.
@AlexSora89 Lol. I didn't want to sound like a stalker or anything. When I see numbers on the end of usernames, I assume a birthday or birth year is associated with it.
I am ready for this one. Had it on the ps2, can't wait to play it for the 3DS.
@abbyhitter
No need to apologise, it's cool! Besides, that's the general rule, so your assumption is usually correct.
My birthday is also easy to remember thanks to a mnemonic help - "half a month, half of ten". As in: half a month is two weeks, which means the double of seven; half of ten means five.
Fourteenth of May, 1989.
I just finish DQIX, my first Dragon Quest. Started playing VII, got this preordered in the hope I'll be done with VII by the time it comes out (unlikely). Really getting into the series
@GammaPhonic You might be finished with VII by then. It was my first Dragon quest game and I finished it within a month. Really looking forward to number VIII
Where's the hype... it's time to get hyped people.
This is one of the all time greats. Support this and show Square Enix we do and will support great games... and that we say keep em comin!
cant wait!!
I hope they didn't meme it.
Cant wait to play it.....
I started with 7 and : ducking head as if about to get hit : I didn't really get into it as much as I had wanted to..
BUT THIS ... THIS looks fresh and awesome in its own way and I somehow just know that I'll like this one much more. Yep, it's been preordered for awhile now. Cannot wait to dig in! So glad they packed all those extras in-- you can tell they're really trying to make this one good and do right by everyone
Glad the character models aren't chibi definitely getting this day one.
You recover MP and HP? Too easy. Game ruined forever
