While Nintendo fans have been cruelly denied the chance to play the recent entries in Bethesda's Fallout series, there's some good news on the horizon - no, Fallout 4 isn't confirmed for the Nintendo Switch before you get too excited - but the Wii U version of Minecraft is getting Fallout-themed content via a new DLC mash-up pack.
As you might expect, the game world is transformed into a post-apocalyptic wasteland crammed with mutated creatures, as is fitting for Fallout. The mash-up pack also contains 44 skins based on characters from the series and the UI has been given a Pip-Boy-style overhaul to ensure it looks the part.
The DLC will cost $5.99 USD and is also coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

So you have to think Minecraft did quite well on the Wii U then?
I don't play it myself, but it's good to hear the game is thriving on a platform that it naturally fits.
wait... this isnt fallout 4. or the switch, darn...
seriously though, awesome pack surprised that Wii U is getting it. consider fallout 4 not on Wii U
Always been a fan of Minecraft, not really of fallout, but I'm glad to hear Mojang still recognizes the Wii U version.
What is this "Fallout" you speak of? It is very unfamiliar to us Nintendo breed.
Yay, skins and resource packs. Something PC players have had for years... think I even reviewed a Fallout resource pack on my YouTube a couple of years ago.
Fallout 4's probably one of my favorite games from last year (73 hours into it - still haven't finished the main story!), and I've heard it's awful compared to the previous two games. The game's got some real charm to it.
At least SOMEONE still supports the Wii U. Nintendo could leadn a lot from Mojang/Microsoft.
Admittedly, seeing the DC Wasteland and Tenpenny Tower is making me seriously consider getting a console version of Minecraft.
@Goob Haha, I'm 4 days and 10 hours in and I still haven't even talked to Nick Valentine.
...So when is the Switch getting Minecraft?
I've never bought Minecraft DLC before, but since I'm such a Fallout fanatic, I'll definitely be downloading this.
@Joeynator3000
I'd be very surprised if it wasn't available on launch.
It's also getting a pretty significant update on December 21st. Lots of new goodies.
I wish they would double the world size. The limited size is the biggest flaw of this version in my opinion. The Switch port will hopefully offer world sizes similar to the PS4 and One.
Boy howdy, how did I miss this article? Talk about hidden in plain sight!
Fallout and Minecraft go together like macaroni and concrete.
I can't wait for the parents and the folks at FGTV trying to explain kids the source material's first outing opened with a public execution.
At least the Wii U is getting, against all odds, Bethesda content. In your smug face, Pete Hines!
@LegendOfPokemon
You know something's wrong when your competitor supports your system more than you do.
Hm, Nintendo??? HM!?
I hope Fallout 4 comes to the Switch. Nintendo players don't realize the number of amazing games they miss out on.
This looks pretty awesome , glad the Wii U is not missing out for a change.
Bet our buddy Phil Spencer is behind this. He's always like the Wii U. Shame Nintendo all to forget about their child. They seem to treat it as a mistake/one night stand.
