I've been playing games since the early 80's and the scalpers and bots have just about ruined a hobby that I used to adore. It's getting so bad now that they're buying controllers. Want a new controller? Pay this guy a premium. This has to stop or it will eventually destroy the industry.
I always feel a little salty about this because I see it as another thing Nintendo started and then left early on. We only got a hanfull of these and there should have been more. It's sad when, in the end, Nintendo abandoned the 3D in 3DS, evenutally leaving it as a more powerful DS?
I stopped giving them money once they started offering "Signed" game soundtrack LPs which weren't actually signed. They were vanilla LPs that came with a card signed by the composer. They took a year to deliver and they wouldn't offer refunds.
I live in Japan and have the Japanese release. Interesting enough if you DON'T install the day 1 update patch, the game has full English text and menus. The day 1 update COMPLETELY removes the English from the game and doesn't even leave it as a language option in settings. Mysterious.
As someone one who has lived in Japan for the last 14 years, I would NEVER shop Super Potato for retro games unless I was super hard-up for something. Their prices are insane. You can get the same games at most other stores for much, much, much, much less. For instance, a game they sell for 2000 yen ($20) you can often find for around 100 ~ 300 yen ($1 - $3) elsewhere. They have made a business on exploiting foreign gamers who are visiting. You'll rarely see Japanese gamers buying much there.
Gameplay-wise, one could be convinced it's a cute continuation of Sega's classic Shinobi series. It plays the same, save some 3D elements (being able to throw projectiles and some enemies into the background). I had the same "flash" reservation at first, because of the look and the price; but I was pleasantly surprised. Played it all weekend. The upgrade system took me a little bit to get used to- you're meant to grind and complete additional level challenges, 3 for easy mode, 3 for normal, and 3 for hard mode, meaning each stage has 9 challenges resulting in more upgrade spirit power. Plus there's hidden stuff in each level: scrolls that unlock upgrades and bits of "Miyuki's letter" (I'm still assembling it). Additionally there are places in levels you won't be able to reach until you unlock an upgrade later in the game, so it has some replayability for completists. And hard mode is no joke. It's a challenge and a half. I'd reccomend the game, especially for the price. You'll get a lot of bang for your buck.
@Indominus_B the reason why you can't tell is because the video you're watching already has a set framerate (probably 30fps). So even if the PS4 has 60 and Switch has 30, if you drop both into a video editor, add graphics, and then spit it out to be embedded in your Nintendo-centric webpage... then you'll only be able to see the frames per second that the video was encoded at for the embed, NOT the original fps of the console (unless it's the same as the encode). There's no way to have 2 different fps, side by side, in one video.
@meppi64 Didn't see Grandia there, but that's not so odd considering it's currently a western exclusive (no announced release in Japan). I did play Monster Boy, though. Really nice animation in that game- very pretty looking. Tight control that was almost TOO tight, but I walked away from my time with Monster Boy looking forward to playing the whole game when it comes out shortly.
I played R-Type on Switch last Thursday during the Tokyo Game Show business day. Excellent port. They had a video running of the original graphic style, the demo only had new graphics. It was a weird mode where you played throught the first level amd it counted how many times you died. And yes, it was R-Type Dimensions. They said it's coming out in physical form beforebthe end of the year. They also gave me a free R-Type fan and R-Type 2019 calender. Score!
@KryptoKrunch well, considering in their pitch they say:
Creating a derivative, fan-work is always a risk, depending on how the owners of the Intellectual properties feel about the project. With the success of projects like ZREO's "Twilight Symphony," and many other fan projects, we have high hopes for Zeldamotion!"

@Not_Soos They're a 90's band that had a couple of hits and amassed a cult following. Now they're favored by hipsters.

Re: Flowstone Saga Is A JRPG With Tetris-Style Combat, And It's Coming To Switch
So it's like the game Puyo Puyo Box for PS1. Cool.
Re: The Cotton Reboot For Switch Arrives In The West Next Month
@Kidfunkadelic83 you might enjoy Caladrius Blaze. I would suggest Darius Cosmic Collection.

@FluffiestP1llow I will make it legal!
Re: Store Your SNES Games In Style With These Rather Fetching Book-Like Cases
Weird that they're a super limited item. From the description:
"LIMITED TO 100 COPIES WORLDWIDE"
So I guess if you got some, then got more games so you wanted some more books to store them in, you'd just be screwed.
Re: Random: No, This Isn't A New Colour Of Famicom - It's Just Really Dirty
Well, the store did clearly label them as "JUNK"
Re: Christmas Comes Early With ESP Ra.De. Psi's Limited Edition Package For Switch
The version I got also came with a Christmas-themed replacement case art. I wasn't expecting that!
Re: Random: Xbox Series X? That's Just A Tall GameCube, The Twitter Masses Say
Love it. Reminds me of the only other "tower" designed console, the NEC PC-FX. Microsoft breaks the mold!

Re: Shinobi Spirits S: Legend Of Heroes Brings Cuddly But Fiesty Ninja Action To Switch
I got it day one. Surprised it hasn't had more hype... it's old school shinobi action. Feels like it easily could have been a PS1 or Saturn release.
