I love people blaming casual gamers for certain games not selling on the Wii. Let's face it people, since the N64, 3rd party games just haven't sold well on any Nintendo console. Call me crazy but I don't think casual gamers where really playing the N64 or Gamecube all that much back then.
I find that most people that buy Nintendo consoles, & I'm talking about the "hardcore" group, won't give anything that isn't made by Nintendo a chance.
How about this, let's stop trying to throw blame to others & tell 3rd party companies that the Wii will make money for them buy doing something radical..... if it's a good game, buy it. I myself have 14 games, only one I don't consider hardcore (Wii Sports) & I know of another 15 out now I want, & another 10 or so coming soon I want. & most are not made by Nintendo.
I'm sending the message I want to 3rd party developers...... are you?
As many Xbox fanboys as I've seen bash the wii because "they have to move to play games" I don't see Natal doing well. Just basing it off their fan base which seems to like to reinforce that stereotype of the fat, mouthbreathing gamer that would burn up in the sun.
All Natal is gonna attract is the casual gamers, which is what the xbox fanboys like to slam Nintendo for, casual games.
Back in the N64 days Rare just copied other games. DK64 was a rip off of Banjo Kazooie which was a rip off of Mario 64, Star Fox Adventures was a rip off of Zelda, Goldeneye was a great game but when Perfect Dark came out, I really didn't care for it at all. Honestly the only Rare games I really liked where Wizards & Warriors & Battletoads.
If this does come out in america I'll pass on it. I didn't really think too much of this game when it 1st came out, and besides, I have brawl & like that one much better.
Well I had a ps2 & Gamecube, & owned & played more games on the Gamecube. I am considering getting a PS3 for games that aren't on the Wii since I really don't care for Microsoft at all, but I know overall, I'll be playing the Wii more just like I did with the Gamecube.
@ MickEiA happens with most titles that are overhyped. I for one find Halo to be just an average FPS that really does nothing differnt from most other FPS's I've played, yet lots of people swear they're the greatest games ever. I grew up playing the original Zelda myself & loved the game & every new game that came out since (except for Phantom Hourglass, haded the touch screen control system). Give the series another shot with no preconcived notions of what it's gonna be like & you might like it.
@ GabeGreens, I agree with you. for the most part the only thing microsoft announced that actually had my attention was Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which will be on PC & PS3 also so I still don't have a real reason to get an xbox360. I just find it funny how Nintendo finally gave all the crybabies on the net what they've been screaming for, & their still throwing a fit that Nintendo don't care about Hardcore gamers. Some people really need to grow up & get over themselves.
@ Popyman I hope you aren't a Halo fan, or Call of Duty fan, or Tales of fan, or Gears of War fan, Since for the most part they're more of the same too. Does that mean those developers are falling?
@ opeter my question is why do they think all kids need bright colors &cute graphics? I guess it's the way most people are, once they become adults they forget how smart & tough kids are.
@ SmaNan They said in the article that the game is turn based. & the GBA version of Tales of Phantasia did come to America. (I'm assuming you are in America since that's what your flag represents.)
last GTA game I played was Vice City, it's a decent series of games, but not one that makes me rush out & buy the latest copy. I got Pokemon Platinum & Zelda Phantom Hourglass this mth, & next on my radar is Fire Emblem & Dragon Quest 5. I might eventually get GTA but it's gonna be after I get every other game on my list of wants that rank higher (which is a lot).
@thewiirocks about what you said about Madworld being a niche title because of the blood & gore, most people I see bad mouthing the wii actually do it cause they think that a game isn't "hardcore" unless it has blood & gore & there's not enough games like that. Just shows some people are just really stupid.
@Adam: as far as returning to their roots, if you really wanna be technical, they have. The NES was originally marketed towards casual gamers & familys cause no one would give a hardcore gaming system a chance thanks to Atari killing the market. And in a way the market was becoming just more of the same again. All that there is now on the "hardcore" systems are shooters, shooters, & shooters. If a game that isn't a shooter is released on one of these systems it's not even given a chance cause it's not "hardcore" enough for these "hardcore gamers" Bahamut ZERO is right, they act like children.
I play poker online & at home for real money so there's really not much reason for me to get this & play just for fun. Still with online support it might prove interesting for those that either can't play for money, or want to learn how to play.

Be nice to throw that back in their faces.

To me they are a very overrated company.

I don't know any Nintendo fans who grew up in the NES days who obsess over Smash.
Well now you know 1, & I have 6 friends from the same age group that love Smash bros too.

more then likely won't happen since they released it on the DS.
