Re: Each Splatoon amiibo Will Unlock 20 Special Challenges

Fluffy_Bunny_Bob

When I first heard about the unlockable missions I thought I'd consider picking up one of the Amiibo's ... but as more information has come out about the content I've become less interested in it. Buying the Link Amiibo to unlock the Spinner in Hyrule Warriors, train-up in Smash, and even costume my Mii in MK8 was a good multi-use feature ... but as someone who has no interest in Nintendo collectibles (except the actual games), I'm not convinced that buying a Splatoon Amiibo offers enough to be a value purchase. I'm currently more likely to put the money towards buying the Spiderman Playset for Disney Infinity 2 instead.

Having read the article, I thought to myself that I'll just stick with Disney Infinity as I'm not a huge LEGO fan (I have some of the games involving my favourite franchises, but find a number of LEGO games quite easy to ignore too) ... then I saw the trailer ... gulp ! I'll keep an eye on this as information starts to filter through, but I think I'm gonna need a bigger shelf.

Re: Review: Super Mario 64 (Wii U eShop / Nintendo 64)

Fluffy_Bunny_Bob

I picked this up last week and have been enjoying it in short bursts over the Easter weekend.

When first released, Mario 64 was my first WOW moment from Nintendo and represents a watershed in my appreciation of the fun that Nintendo brings to gaming. Loved it then, love it now ... thanx Ninty

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo Turns to Classics, DLC and amiibo to Keep Fans Hooked

@Grumblevolcano ... I heard that the 3 minute demos are for classic NES & SNES games, but not that they are games on VC, so I may have missed that bit. Also, not all the games on the service are accessible from each Amiibo, so what's the point in having a demo service that wont let you access the demo you want to try ? Only 3 minutes ... so rather than someone going online and read reviews and perhaps catch-up with some gameplay footage, Nintendo gives a 3 minute demo of a game you aren't interested in as a marketing tool ???

I see the possibilities of this, but to me Ninty hasn't quite got it right. I'd much rather just have the first 10 minutes of 5 games per Amiibo figure. It's enough to pass the time for some fun, can generate sales of a full game on VC, and is a fun use of the Amiibo range. Just 3 minutes of play, from random levels in a variety of random games just sounds ... too short and random, to attract me to use it.

I really enjoyed the Direct. Not quite enough shown for my own personal tastes to be a 'slam dunk' but some good updates, some good announcements and of course that Shin Megami Tensei crossover trailer.

The only people who could be disappointed by the Direct, are those who have set their own expectations which aren't met. I would have liked some kind of news about Starfox or Devil's Third or a surprise reveal, and that would probably have put the icing on the cake for me ... but I enjoyed all the announcements, even the things I have absolutely no interest in at all (what's that Amiibo Tap demo thing all about ???).

Who else provides so much output and so much information DIRECTLY to the gamer ? Keep it coming Nintendo.

Re: RCMADIAX Takes to Twitter to Outline New Strategy, Release Changes and Move Away from Wii U

Fluffy_Bunny_Bob

Personally, I've not had any interest in any of the software this guy has released on WiiU (to the point where I'm not sure I'd even call them games).

With fun and beautiful looking experiences like Paper Monsters Recut, Toki Tori, Swords & Soldiers and Steamworld Dig being available for only a few pounds at different times on the WiiU eShop, I now have a certain level of expectancy on the quality of my purchases and the prices I'm prepared to pay. I'll investigate any eShop game under £8 that catches my eye, and will consider more expensive games that really interest me. However, multi-platform eShop games with missing features, that are more expensive on WiiU really annoy me, such as How To Survive and F1 Race Stars.

As with full retail purchases, I think it's simply that many Nintendo gamers tend to target games of good quality that offer good value, as opposed to just buying any old crap that's shoved out at them.

Re: LEGO The Hobbit DLC Trilogy Expansion No Longer Planned for Release

Fluffy_Bunny_Bob

I've skipped a number of Lego games to avoid burnout, and swapped and changed platforms too, to get different experiences from the games. When Lego Hobbit was announced with this DLC plan to complete the story, it made it easy to just totally avoid it.

So was the conclusion of the story supposed to be free DLC or an additional purchase? Have people bought a game at full price for just two thirds of the promised content ? How many people would have avoided this game if they knew the third movie content wouldn't arrive ? Is this the biggest DLC rip-off yet ... a major publisher getting people to buy a full-price game that they can't finish because the last third of the game isn't being made.
