Re: GameStop: Wii U Will Need Great First Party Titles To Compete

Fingeldor

It's kind of sad to me. I know for myself, I will end up loving the Wii U. The titles will be there. However, by the time the games are coming out, I fear the name 'Wii U' will have such a negative connotation, much fewer people will take the console and it's (inevitable) solid game library seriously.

Re: Nintendo Download: 7th March 2013 (North America)

Fingeldor

I did not like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeons at all. Granted, I've never played anything but regular Pokemon games. Too much fluffy dialogue, the movement controls in the dungeon are awkward (RT to move diagonally?) and frankly, there's not much 'mystery' in the dungeon - the occasional monster and that's really it. It takes entirely too long to get anywhere or do anything and once you do, it's extremely lackluster. I think I was expecting something along the lines of Mario & Luigi but that's my mistake. Loved Pokemon Black/White but this is not for me. I hope they'll release a Luigi's Mansion demo - I've got to buy one of these games to get the Nintendo download promotion.

Re: Cliff Bleszinski Sees A Future Where Nintendo Is Out Of The Hardware Business

Fingeldor

@Pixelroy Indeed! Nintendo is a huge part of Japan's culture (look up Pokemon commercial planes via Google). They will continue to sell there. I for one like Nintendo's hardware design and their approach to gaming. I would be very sad if they dropped out of the North American gaming market. I'll have to rely entirely on retro gaming from then on. An alternative might be a combination of both realities in which Nintendo stops selling hardware only in North America but opens their games onto other consoles. Truthfully, that doesn't seem likely. I do not foresee a future where Nintendo is only selling software globally.

Re: Nintendo - "Innovation is Important" for the 2D Mario Series

Fingeldor

I dunno, I like NSMB. I'd like to see a different story, different characters, something along the lines of Mario 2 or something. In the end, I still enjoy the mechanics but I'm also trying to introduce the game to a new generation (my 6 year old daughter) and it's something we all enjoy. For me, it's nostalgia + hd graphics - brutal difficulty = balanced, family entertainment @ 1080p.

Re: Developer States That Wii U Woes Were a Focus At DICE

Fingeldor

I love my Wii U and I suspect it will pay off in the long run with great first party titles. However, the lack of games right now and the recent delay of Rayman Legends concerns me. If you're an early adopter of the console and were thinking there'd be a larger third party list this generation (Bioshock Infinite, for me) you're probably feeling pretty concerned right now. Nintendo is going to have to start rolling some bigger dice and either figure out a way to appeal to more devs or start buying them out and creating new, stronger IPs. It seems Mario and Zelda just aren't convincing enough people anymore.

Re: Don't Worry, There's A Cavalcade Of Fan-Favorite Wii U and 3DS Games Incoming

Fingeldor

Not worried. I think Nintendo could have planned their launch better in the early going but the future is bright! Pikmin, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Xenoblade, New Wind Waker, Rayman Legends. It's just going to get better with age. Despite some of the negative press, I think MiiVerse is great and the foundation they've built with the new console is fantastic!

Re: Pikmin 3

Fingeldor

Cannot wait for Pikmin 3. Started playing the Wii version of the first Pikmin (for the first time) this year. Need to finish it and get Pikmin 2. Is it true Pikmin 2 is better than the first?
