Great review, @ThomasBW84. I am eagerly awaiting the delivery of my copy. I did want to ask if there is any way to customize the button layout. I would really like to remap L and R to ZL and ZR on the gamepad.
Awesome review, Thomas! I plan on downloading this at some point in the not too distant future; has anyone heard how many blocks the eShop version requires?
Well that puts a bit of a damper on my enthusiasm for the game. I had planned to pick this up and the Movie Legends pack, as that pack had two of my all time favorite cars (1970 Dodge Charger and 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am). With this info, I will be less likely to pick this up soon.
Ballon Fight is still listed for 30 cents in the NA eShop, along with F-Zero. Nintendo's schedule lists Balloon Fight as being available for the promo until tomorrow, February 21, so if anyone is interested and hasn't got it, get it now while you can get the special price.
@XCWarrior We don't really know what the next Xbox is going to be called, especially as Microsoft has yet to so much as even announce it's existance. Durango is just it's rumored codename, just like Cafe was to Wii U. It could potentially be called anything.
@Chunky_Droid I doubt it will effect anything in Wii Mode. From what they've said, it sounds like, aside from getting a discount if you've purchased a game before, these titles are completely separate from the previous Wii ones.
Based on Iwata's comments about the Famicom promo, it sounds like the Wii U VC update will be launching in late March/April. Around the 11 minute mark, he says "the titles coming before April will be available before the official Virtual Console service starts."

I highly doubt that we'll see Zelda, but I would say Smash Bros is plausible, if unlikely. The game has been in development for a little under a year (based on comments that its development would commence once KI:U was completed). That is plenty of time for them to have produced a concept trailer similar to the original reveal of Brawl. Not likely, but certainly not outside the realm of possibility.
I am loving the art style for the battles. I have never been fond of the look of the 3D pokemon in previous games like the Stadiums and Colosseum/XD, but this looks fantastic! I'll miss the nostalgia associated with the sprites, but I can't wait for this!
I am incredibly excited for this! The only thing that bothers me a bit is how he said we can expect to see "some" old favorites return. Really hope he is just refering to wild encounters and that there will be a way to transfer our oldies but goodies. The new battle system looks stunning!
The only way I could see it even being possible to use a 3DS as a Wii U controller would be to have it act like a Wii Classic Controller. I don't see it being able to act as a GamePad or a Wii U Pro controller because it lacks those controller's clickable analog sticks. That is unless they release a new 3DS add-on that incorporates those.
@theblackdragon In Europe, the red Mario 25th anniversary came with the NES Donkey Kong game pre-installed. To my knowledge, no games were ever pre-installed on NA Wii's.
The Mario Kart bundle is real. A local Walmart I went into earlier today actually had it on their shelf. I just thought it may have been announced and I missed it so I didn't think to take a picture of it (that and there was a crowd of people standing in front of their case). I know this doesn't make for an official confirmation, just sharing what I saw. I might pick it up when I have the extra if it is still available. Does anyone know if you buy a system with a game preinstalled, can you transfer your stuff from another system without losing the "bundled" game?
Parent goes into shop looking for the new Nintendo console for their son, Timmy. Sales associate sees Wii Mini listed with its December release date and thinks it to be the new system. Parent buys Wii Mini instead of Wii U. Timmy can't use Miiverse. Wii all miss Timmy.
...Really? I mean it looks quite nice, but why release it now? Wouldn't it have been better to have released it last year while Nintendo were still releasing games for it and it wouldn't have confused parents and uninformed store associates mistaking it for the U? Also, like others have stated, how much smaller could it possibly be unless the disc drive was removed? The Wii was by far the smallest system of the generation, even when taking Microsoft and Sony's "Slim" redesigns into account. Despite it looking nice, I am just completely baffled by this. Feels like GBA Micro all over again.
I'm kinda on the fence on this one. The way I look at this is it is pretty much a stand in for the Volume 2 guide coming out later this month. It pretty much contains the same information as that guide plus a few little extra features and tools. I don't love the price, but it is covering the same info as a $20 guide, so I might look into it.
@SirGreatNose
I don't get that either. That would be an excellent way to streamline the process of transferring pokemon from one game to another! I would love for them to create a small app to provide this function without having to play the annoying little mini-game thing.
I'll take one of the Mario packs (which one, which one?) and I may grab Dream Radar from a couple of weeks ago. I'll also take that demo. Looks like a good week!
Sooo... where is today's Nintendo Download? I might pick up one of the new Mario DLC packs; the Gold Rush pack from before was a lot of fun, so I might get the Gold Mushroom pack. Wish they'd release a new color for the XL.
I am hoping to hear about some new colors for the 3DS XL, preferably the silver/black or the solid black ones that are available in other territories. I will also be happy to see more of Luigi's Mansion, Animal Crossing, and more NSMB2 DLC. It would also be great to hear about a localization of HarmoKnight.
Interesting. Not unexpected, but interesting non the less to see Nintendo break down its new system. By the way, I wouldn't mind seeing that semi-transparent Wii U made available for purchase.
The black one and the Mario one look pretty nice. It would have been nice to see a bit of gold on the Mario one (maybe have the icons done in gold). I still think I would prefer the silver, but I would happily welcome the black one into my family of handhelds.
I am not a big fan of DLC in most cases (although I loved the DLC scheme for Forza Motorsports 4 on Xbox 360). I would have rather these levels also been incorporated into the regular game so that I could thoroughly explore them without the fear of the timer running out. It also would have been nice to be able to play them with a friend in Co-op, but I can kind of see why Nintendo wouldn't want that (that is, unless the friend had purchased them too). In the end, I may try one of these packs and I would be interested to see what DLC adds to Nintendo's future releases.
Hmm... I might pick up one of these, just not sure which one. The first one sounds too easy, but I am also not sure I am skilled enough to handle the "Nerve Wrack Pack." I guess I know which pack I'll be trying after all.
Looking forward to this on both platforms. At the very least, the 3DS version will be great for getting me used to how the game will work on the 3DS before Monster Hunter 4 (hopefully) gets a western release.
I predict that Micheal Patcher will get a hair cut sometime in 2013. Exactly when will have to be determined by the length and unruliness of his hair, but I would predict that it will happen sometime preceding the hot summer months.
I am new to the Professor Layton games (I just got Curious Village) and I already consider myself a fan. I look forward to playing the rest of the entries in the series and hope for more in the future!
Anyone else see a Mii stuck in a tree? I just want to be sure I'm not hallucinating. This is looking really nice. Might just tempt me to pick up a Wii U this year instead of waiting til next year as I had originally intended.
Based on the screenshots alone, it looks a bit like Super Mario World meets rhythm game with just a sprinkling of Pokemon references. I will most certainly be watching for localization news and reviews of this one!
@TheToader Agreed. I have been wanting to play a new RCT for some time (especially since I never got to play the third one as my computer could hardly run the demo). I really hope they make this game worth my money as I would love to revisit this franchise.
@Medicham Halfway. I was going to wait for more reviews on it regardless, but this whole "it is coming, its not coming, it is coming, its not listed as coming" thing is getting old.

Hehe, just kidding, I will look forward to this come October, and I am happy to hear about a game that is coming to Wii U rather than one that isn't!
Re: Netflix Now Available on TVii
"services such as TiVO and Google Maps were nowhere to be seen"
Google Maps??? Was that supposed to be in TVii? Why?
Re: Review: Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U)
@ThomasBW84 Thanks, Thomas! I think I'll be able to adjust until I can afford a pro controller.

@DePapier Hehe, no, didn't know there was a 'Trans Am' in Gundam. This is what I was referring to:

I'll be interested if this comes to Wii U. One question: what the flimflam is a psvista?
Re: Super Mario Busters Ain't Afraid of no Ghost
Mind blown... That was awesome! Thanks, Nintendolife, you just made my day, even if you did misspell my name (its eCto, not eKto).
Re: You Can't Use Your Wii Virtual Console Saves With the Wii U Virtual Console
@Linkstrikesback I think MooMoo is means they will be competing over display space in the eShop itself, taking attention away from new releases.
Re: You Can't Use Your Wii Virtual Console Saves With the Wii U Virtual Console
Not surprised by this in the least.

Re: Nintendo Reveals Plans For Wii U Virtual Console
@Zach777 Actually, it is, they just aren't advertising it. Just search for it in the search bar.
Once the service is available, I will probably update some of my favorite VC titles, but probably not others.

The article says it starts at 9AM ET.

This is probably just wishful thinking, but I would love to hear announcements about Smash Bros and Mario Kart.
