So does the UK get it 3pm or 4pm? I’m confused… Does it mean we can stream it on Nintendo’s other channels at 3pm, but the Nintendo UK account won’t put it up until 4pm?
Hmm I appear to have In Other Waters in my backlog so I might give that a go before taking the plunge on this one, thanks. Steam deck verified though so I might get it on there with the trackpads and bigger screen.
This might be the best game I never technically finished. I was enjoying it so much that I wanted to try and do everything before I took on the final boss. Doing this meant I think I accidentally activated a harder final boss that I couldn’t beat. I had to watch videos just to see the ending. Never mind.
This is a beautiful game to just get lost (literally) in. Maybe not the best pick for the middle of summer though, bit gloomy…
Firstly, I want to say thank you for getting me to finally play this game. I would have probably put it off for another few years otherwise. I would say compared to Earthbound Beginnings, Earthbound’s beginnings (confused?) are a breeze. I never felt I had to grind at all, but then I did make liberal use of the rewind feature. I think Earthbound would have been a little bit harder to love without modern day conveniences. This way I could really enjoy the quirky story and “take in the sights”.
Favourite location: DUNGEON MAN DUNGEON MAN DUNGEON MAN.
Finished Earthbound earlier this week and tried getting back into Dragon Quest XI and it all just seems a little… earnest to me now. Also 2 chunky JRPGs in a row is a bit too much to take so I’m interspersing it with some Rise of the Tomb Raider.
No Obra Dinn for me, hopefully see you next month.
Backlog count: 813 games, I need to do a Marie Kondo on that list.
Capitalism in a nutshell. Owning something but never using it, when someone out there could get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
That being said I have the limited edition Link’s Awakening for Switch sat on my shelf because the original holds a lot of precious childhood memories.
@Sealy_boy I agree, I’m making heavy use of the rewind feature and not feeling one bit guilty. I have also been using the official Strategy guide which I think Nintendo put online when the SNES mini was released, the guide is a work of art and I’m a little sad I only have a digital copy.
Sounds like I’m pretty much at the same point as Kate. Doing stuff in and around Fourside. I’m feeling a little bit of the fatigue with the convoluted story but I’ve been on holiday for a few days so will hopefully come back feeling refreshed on Monday.
I disagree with the small inventories being a problem, I see it a bit like the weapon disability system in Zelda BOTW, it forces you to use things that you otherwise might have picked up in a cave somewhere and never bothered with.
My favourite thing about the game so far has just been looking back over everything I’ve done already, so many bonkers things have been crammed into such a short period, and whole crazy characters get introduced only for the story to take a complete detour a few minutes later. I’d say this falls into my top 5 SNES games but I suppose I should reserve judgement until I’ve finished, should be done with it by the end of the month.
Looks nice and I just checked and I already have it from the Itch.io Ukraine bundle. Looks like it will also work on my Steam Deck so might give it a go on there
Having played Beginnings and now starting Earthbound for backlog club I would say it’s worth playing both, but they are very similar. I’m about a third of the way through Earthbound and I love it for a lot of the same reasons as in the article, it really feels like a missing piece of gaming history has fallen into place.
The music is brilliant (Ness on his bike just makes me smile) and I strangely like that so many attacks miss, including your enemies, it actually makes the battles more entertaining.
I also have to mention here that playing Earthbound made me go back and hunt down the fabulous comic art of Zac Gorman (search Magical Game Time), lots of Lovely Zelda and EB pieces that breathe an extra dimension into those gaming worlds
@Greatluigi Yes the recent itch.io Ukraine bundle sent it off the charts and with the regular free games from Amazon prime and Epic I’ve come to terms with the number only ever getting bigger.
If I break it down to games I’ve paid for and definitely want to play the number is less than 100. That thought keeps me sane
I’m glad earthbound won, both that and undertale are still on my backlog.
I’ve just gotten started on Dragon Quest XI but I’ll put that to the side and get started on this. It’ll be the perfect way to give my D-pad modded SNES-style joy cons a spin!

Re: Nintendo Reassures Fans "More" N64 Games Will Be Added To Switch Online
I don’t think anyone has mentioned Wetrix. For some reason it holds a special place in my heart and I’m sad it doesn’t have any modern day successors.
Re: How Do You Improve The Switch Pro Controller? Just Add Some 'Click'
Funny, the perfect controller in my eyes would be a completely silent one (I play a lot in bed next to a sleeping wife!).

Re: Random: Fan Made Resident Evil 4 DEmake Brings Heaps Of Nostalgia
It looks like it captures the old gameplay style perfectly but having got into the series at number 4 I’d find it hard to go backwards from there.
I’ve just started playing RE4 VR on Oculus Quest. It’s quite a workout!

@NiallMitch14 That’s disappointing, it’s the best thing about the switch vc. You can tell I’ve not got the expansion pak 😅

… just rewind the game to before you hit the object?

Good idea extending the playtime, I’ll definitely get stuck into Earthbound if that wins the poll.
Current backlog count: 775 games
Re: Backlog Club: Week Zero - Hello, And Welcome To Backlog Club
You missed that Slay the Spire is available on mobile. Much cheaper on there.
Anyway this is a great idea. Unfortunately I’d have to add this week’s game to my backlog to play it, which is defeating the object.
