It's not about the rage, it's about the satisfaction of owning it after days of it owning you.
I remember my first run through it, I was plugging my stats into stamina and almost nothing into health. When it came boss time he was one shotting me. I tried many variations in gear and weapons. In the end I realised that if he got a clean hit on me I was done, so I went at him Celtic warrior style. Nothing equipped but a tower shield and zwiehander (one-handed), I needed to be very fast. I'd fought him so many times, I had his movements timed perfectly. After about 20 minutes of dodging, blocking, and barely nicking his health, he died and I stood victorious.
Winning that fight felt so good, and then I moved on and the next fight was just as challanging. The game never lets up on you, you just get better at it, the feeling of accomplishing something difficult that you've been working for is very addicting. You can actually measure your progress and notice how much better you are at it once you beat it from when you started it.
In my opinion this is what made the classic NES games so good. They were often times very difficult and unforgiving, but when you finally beat that level or the game you felt like a master.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't you just import it and then play it in english since it has a western digital release? Digital is still better than nothing; If selling digital is a way for them to make a profit in the west they otherwise wouldn't see I think it's still a win for us.
Why should it be up to Nintendo to promote this game? Isn't that the point of a publisher? The fact that anyone wants to port to Switch is because they think it will be easy money, but the fact of the matter is if your game is good it will sell.
Stop blaming the platform if your sales are down, and develope a better game.
@Jin15 It would be in the developers best interest to listen to their base audience's wants and needs and incorporate them into the game; not doing so would end in a loss of profit and opportunity.
That's unfortunate, it seems like nothing more than a way to push accessory sales, but ironically this desicion cost them a sale of the game iteslf /shrug. I was excited for it, but knowing this, will not be purchasing it.
Eh, why homebrew when you can just install an emulator on a phone or tablet and play with next to no effort? Not really into pirating games, purchasing games gives companies like SE incentive to create exclusives and port over classics like Romancing Saga 2.
@maruse I've been hearing the same thing, mainly from PC users. I was turned off by this game over the initial controversy of them wanting to charge more for it on Nintendo switch without any additional incentive to do so.
I don't get what all of the hype is about. A few of my friends got tham and all of them said they hooked it up and played an hour or two and now it collects dust. Great for nostalgia, but it's not like you can't put these games on any other given device made in the last decade.
It's likely they are using these manufactures to convert the machines to output more switches.
The idea of a designer game case is lost on me. I just bought a $7 microfiber sleeve and a $12 case with a zipper and toss it in my backpack. Been playing it everyday to and from work on the train without any scratches, scuffs, or issues.
I guess it makes sense if you actively carry the case around like a purse to display the case itself, but I think that's impractical.
Why are they trying to blame Unity? I Am Setsuna runs fine. Sounds like they didn't optimize their code. Regardless of if these guys ever put out a good game, I'll pass just because of the Jackassery responses from their dev. I'd rather support a dev that can own their mistakes and fix them rather than pushing the blame.
I don't feel like there is a need for me to purchase DLC for a RPG game. The original package, and story should be enough. The only reason I'd get the DLC is after I beat the game, but with so many games out there I usually move on to something else as soon as I beat one.
All reviewing aside, it will be a good game. Critics are held to standards when writing reviews, and in the end it's still just an opinion. Same with movies, don't base your purchase solely on a magazine's review >.> With the lack of quality in today's RPGs I think this will be a great addition.
If the industry cut prices more people would be apt to purchase instead of pirate. Hollywood's pricing model is archaic and out of date. I would be all over box office hits streamed to my TV for $16 instead of paying $12 for matinee just because I wouldn't have to leave the house.
I would be totally fine with this. The sooner the NX comes out, the sooner there will be a price drop on Wii U titles, and then I get even more of a discount on all of the games I haven't had time to play yet.
I don't know how true it is because I'm going off of this article, but it says that once you pick a path the other is locked out. That means the content is all part of the original game, so it should be considered one game; then, you have to pay a DLC fee to unlock the other path? It's really a turn off for me at that point. I'd rather have two separate releases with completely different stories and casts, not pay for the same game twice to play from another perspective.
I'm really hoping there is a sub. I've been playing MMOs for over ten years, and when you compare one with a sub (FFXI, or WoW) to ones that are F2P (ArcheAge, etc) You can see a huge difference in communities, the F2P ones being mostly toxic. Also in most F2P games you run into the issue of ppl being able to use micro transactions to gain advantages, which ruins the game for anyone not emptying their wallet. I'd rather pay the $13 a month, and skip going out to eat for lunch at the office to better enjoy the game, level the playing field, and keep the community from getting out of hand.
After considering what is happening and letting it sink in yesterday it occurred to me that Nintendo could be our shot at actual quality games on a smartphone that aren't just re-releases. i.e. FF and DQ.
I think it sounds awesome from a convenience standpoint, but there will have to be some heavy hardware enhancements to get the console game to perform the same on the handheld, which would bring the price up to smart phone levels, i.e. $600+ just for the handheld. Remember the only reason smart phones are actually affordable is because they are bundled deals with carriers. So if the console is $500, and we put the same specs in a handheld, I'm betting it's over $500. So you are looking at potentially paying for a Gaming PC Rig for the console. I'm probably crazy enough to do that, but I don't think it will fly with the general public.
@Opeter sure you can get the gamepad, but most of them make the whole make sure the gamepad supports the game, or the buttons won't map correctly. I'm not saying it can't be done, I just don't think it would be done as well as on a dedicated console, same reason why emulators are always a few generations behind even though a PC's hardware trounces over a console.
@opeter I will always prefer the handheld to the smartphone for gaming. Buttons and a dedicated system will always work better for quality games. Think of how many versions of android are out there and how many games get released and work fine until an update and then you paid $5 for something that just crashes every time you open it. Look at the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles 3d port coming out next month. It runs native on the hand held, but would need to be heavily modified to run on a smart phone, not to mention you phone runs more than just that game, so kiss your battery life goodbye.
A smart thing would be to figure out a way to stream games from their console to smart devices, Kind of how Nvidia does with GRID. Imagine pulling out your tablet and hooking into your console, or a console in the cloud, and loading up xenoblade chornicles x.
That would be great, but I don't know many people that are going to shell out $600+ for a handheld. Our smart phones can pull off most emulators, but that's because of the hardware. Let's face it, most of us don't buy our phones outright, we get them on contract with a carrier or through some type of incentive program. I don't often think of it that way, but there's no way I would replace my phone every year or two for $600-$800 a pop.

Re: Class Action Lawsuit Officially Filed Against Nintendo For Switch Joy-Con "Drifting" Issues
1. Buy a pro controller.
2. If an item is faulty, return it to the store or send it to the manufacturer.
Also realize you are using bluetooth controllers in a house full of IoT devices, there will be issues sometimes.
