@HugoGED Welp, good thing I can get it on other platforms too then. I'd love to get the Switch 2 version but if they're using these glorified, reusable download codes in a box? I can't pull the trigger. Those things aren't even worth the plastic used to manufacture them.
@progx it was actually 2, 4, 8, 16 and 32gb for most Switch 1 carts and I believe 64gb existed but those are elusive. Macronix is the ones who made the Switch 2 carts and I have Cyberpunk 2077 physically on Switch 2. It performs flawlessly. Other than maybe like an extra second or two of load time when jumping into the game? I haven't experienced any major frame rate drops at all. I can spare five seconds of load time if it means I own the game outright here. I haven't bought a single Lame Key Card game and I have no intention of doing so. If I see a game I want to play and it's multi-platform? I'll weigh my options and figure out which one I will get based off the media the company uses. If a company uses the full card? I'll buy the game. Lame Key Card? Hard pass. Marvelous Games and CD Projekt Red both are amazing publishers based on using the full carts. Helps that all their games have been great thus far. They keep publishing with proper carts? I'll keep buying. End of.
I have this myself, worth it's weight in gold. CD Projekt Red really outdid themselves with not only putting out a hell of a port of this gem, but cramming all of it onto a 64gb cart. None of this Lame Key Card BS that Square-Enix keeps tying to force feed us. If they release a native Switch 2 version of The Witcher 3 Complete Edition? I'll buy it and sell my Switch 1 version to a buddy whose been looking for a copy for ages.
@DTfearTheBEARD same, I have a Switch 2 but I agree that having it available for more platforms is never a bad thing. I'm hoping this gets the full game on cart treatment. No Lame Key Cards for me.
Clearly they want these games to fail on Switch 2, don't they? What garbage. Definitely hard passing on this. Nintendo made a terrible mistake in creating these Lame Key Cards. They need to put the genie back in the bottle and recall them. No one wants this crap. NIS needs to also get their heads out of their proverbial backsides when it comes to this as well. Either put the games on a proper cart or don't even bother.
@Flangela agreed, no one wants these glorified, reusable, download codes in a box. Lame Key Cards have been a PR disaster for Nintendo and I agree, whomever came up with the concept for this crap needs to be out of a job. They're literally the worst of both worlds. Not even worth the plastic they're being printed on.
@abbyhitter indeed, they could also do a Bravely Default trilogy in the exact same way but nope, instead they have their heads up their arses and have gone all-in on Lame Key Card BS, no one wants these glorified, reusable, download codes in a box. Myself included.
@SuntannedDuck2 precisely, I'll gladly tell a publisher to get bent whenever they pull this BS with Lame Key Cards. I'm not alone in that sentiment either. So many of us, including folks at my local GameStop, are turned off by the notion of these reusable download codes that hold zero data on the cart itself. One even told a Nintendo rep that they aren't gullible enough to fall for that nonsense. Hopefully publishers get their heads out of their proverbial backsides and re-release some of these launch titles on proper carts.
@FX102A one can only hope, makes me glad if that's the case. Lame Key Cards are a symbol of everything wrong with modern gaming. Many of us who were excited for the Switch 2 initially got so turned off by the introduction of Lame Key Cards that we were like, "Yeah, we can wait." Myself included. I've already contacted Square-Enix expressing disappointment that Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD was relegated to one of these BS cards. I'd gladly pay $5 extra for a true copy with the game on the cart. We collectors aren't stupid. That's for sure.
Welp, I won't be buying NIS games on Switch 2 whenever I get one, or any Lame Key Card media for that matter. Trust me, many of us absolutely loathe what Nintendo did in introducing this BS to us. I'm beyond glad to see that these things simply aren't selling that well. Even if they go on sale, I won't buy out of principle. Either give us the full game on the cart or don't bother. End of.
I can only hope LRG succeeds in getting publishers to work with them when it comes to their game releases. The Lame Key Card BS turns many of us off to the Switch 2, myself included. If this is the future? I want off. I'll gladly sacrifice the better performance if it means I own the actual game on the cart itself. What a ripoff. I'm not blowing $39.99 - $69.99 on a cart that's just a glorified download code in a box. If publishers release a version that has the full game on the cart themselves? I'll gladly buy it. Until then? Hell no!
That'll be too easy for a guy like me. I've already left feedback with Square-Enix expressing my immense disappointment with how they're handling Bravely Default Flying Fairy HD"s release as a Lame Key Card. There's no excuse for that, considering the game is only 11GB in terms of space. Hell, there's no excuse for this technology to exist, period. Cheap, lazy, I won't be buying. I'm also holding off on the Switch 2 for a while on top of all that, had Square-Enix handled this right and given us a full-fledged game on the cart? I would've gladly bought the game and the system day one. Nintendo is seriously screwing the pooch here, that's for sure.
@WhiteTrashGuy as for the Castlevania collections? I have them physically as well, I even bought Requiem just to say, "Hey Konami, we want more Castlevania!"
@LikelySatan I don't blame you whatsoever buddy, oh man, when Marvel vs. Capcom 2 came out on Dreamcast? I played it like crazy and got my friends hooked. It was such a good time. Also, no publisher is perfect. I will say I'm shocked and disappointed there is no Xbox version as of right now. Still, Capcom has done good to right the ship, that's for damn sure.
@shonenjump86 you kidding me? I'm buying both versions. This is worth it. Not even a pissing contest whatsoever, I can't wait to play these gems again.
@Sisilly_G they aren't available for pre-order anywhere just yet. Also, that official website is such a hot mess. Like it was clearly cobbled together and quickly, seriously, one of the ugliest sites I have seen for an official game in a long time. So I'll wait for absolute clarification on the status of the dub being removed and a physical release before I confirm whether I'm buying or not. If worse comes to worse, I can import, but if it's digital only everywhere? I won't be buying.
@DrewBA77 Baten Kaitos Origins was called Baten Kaitos II: The First Wings and the Heirs of the Gods in Japan. That's why it's called the Baten Kaitos I & II Collection.
I'm going to take this info with a grain of salt, damn, that official page for the collection is a hot mess, it looks like balderdash and it was obviously thrown together quickly. It obviously needs more time in the oven.
I'll wait for further news, but if it is 100% confirmed that we are getting only the Japanese voices, I'm kinda disappointed. Baten Kaitos Origins had a stunning voice cast. Easily some of the best English voice acting at that point in time.
While the first game had a mixed bag on the voice acting, it still had its charms too. I would welcome a chance to hear it decompressed or redone from the ground up.
Either way, I hope for a physical release. With the game only being 8GB in size, there should be no reason not to put both on a single cart. I'll gladly buy if they do this.
@DrJoson if it wasn't, I'm quite sure we would've heard "coming to Nintendo eShop" for it. So I'm sure it is getting a physical release. Bandai-Namco are no fools.
@BryanS the banter between Guillo and Milly in BKO was the stuff of legends. Milly constantly outsmarting Guillo and calling them "Dingbat" to their chagrin? Loved it.
@gcunit right? I'm hoping they get this right and put both games on a physical cart for us too. They were both stellar games, BKO had a fast and frantic battle system while BKEWatLO was known for its slow, methodical plotting battle system. Both games had an amazing story that when played in chronological order, produces many "Holy ****!" moments when you see reccurring characters from each.
Yes, my wallet is gonna hurt like a ***** though. Between this, Live a Live, and the XBSX, PS5 and Switch versions of P5R getting a physical release? I shall be a broke dude. lol
Honestly, him leaving Nintendo was the right thing for both himself and for the company. Clearly his heart wasn't in it anymore after Iwata-san passed away and understandably so. So he did himself and the company a massive solid when he stepped down. Hope he does okay where he is now either way and for Nintendo to continue to be the unstoppable juggernaut that it has been for the last 5 years with the best system they have had since the SNES.
