I love my split pad pro, exclusively use the switch as a portable and I find them so much more comfortable, enough to outweigh the features they lack. These new ones being less chunkly makes them less appealing to me personally, but they do still look like they'd be more comfortable than the stock joycons.
@Heavyarms55 Not at all. I was referring to the increasing percentage of sales of AA-AAA games that are now made via online distribution means, games that would and do receive physical releases. Clearly 'digital only' releases are part of the trend but not what I was intending to refer to.
Digital only releases specially I'd say are both a blessing and a curse. Blessing in that smaller games that would not otherwise have seen a release can have an audience, curse in that mid tier games that may have otherwise had a physical release may no longer receive one, and for the (likely inevitable) trend they accelerate.
Despite pretty much every piece of physical commercial software coming with a 'licence' that tells us we bought rights to use the software but do not own it, consumers as a whole still have expectations that companies must meet when it comes to physical items. The reaction to the initial XBone release and Sony's response (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWSIFh8ICaA) is a great example. With online distribution companies managed to reset those expectations much more to their advantage.
Of course game streaming where consumers trade all control for convenience will probably render this moot soon enough, I'll still choose physical releases for as long as they are an option (or in the case of PC, DRM free releases from GOG etc)
It's kind of sad when people trade their freedoms for convenience, but not surprising. I stick to physical copies as they are often cheaper and leave me with the option to lend or resell as I wish.
@GrailUK I was referencing the creators program that is being replaced. Claiming ad revenue from youtube videos of their games was not an attempt to raise the quality of the videos, it was a cash grab. That's why it was described as controversial.
It's an improvement for sure, but if there's one thing Nintendo is not, it's humble. From their shenanigans with dev exclusivity in the NES days right through to their previous stance on gameplay vids.
I clicked the link assuming it'd just be a RPI zero, but to cut down an actual wii mobo and rewire it like that into such a small form is really impressive.
I bought the physical release of Dragons Trap, with the nice feelies included. I'd be interested in getting this one also, I hope the in game music is closer to dragons trap remaster (wonderful) and not like the video above.
It says they have to 'immediately stop wearing Mario-themed outfits' by which I assume they mean providing them.
If the ruling only extends to the costumes, could they continue just without those? What if the customer wears their own?
Not getting into the safety/annoyance issues, just in regards to IP.
It certainly chewed coins when I used to play it at timezone, but 99% of my time with the series has been under emulation where lives are meaningless as you just spam the credit button.
That's a real shame, I really enjoyed their earlier work.
Still have the sealed physical releases of the 3 sam and max seasons (you got a digital dl as well as physical copy when ordering direct from their store), loved puzzle agent, tales of monkey island, strongbad, even BTTF game was fun albeit lacking in puzzles. For me when they moved onto current movie/tv tie-ins is when I lost interest, next to no puzzles just story and QTEs, the lowest form of gameplay (dont design a level that makes you need to press certain buttons, just tell the user to press them directly!). Jurassic park was an awful example of this.
All the best for the fired staff, it's sad what has happened to a formerly great company.
Wiiu pro controllers have had near identical clones for ages also. I'll stick to official, the 80 hour battery life is awesome, and they're compatible with 8bitdo retro receivers.
@electrolite77
I would argue that not including the full game risks sales more than a few dollar higher price for the game. Selling incomplete games certainly doesn't reflect well on either the publisher or nintendo.
I get your point, but to me at the very least if only one or two of the games are on the cart then the packaging and marketing should be just for the ones that are included and perhaps a sticker to advise of a 'bonus' download of the other(s).
It's not a physical release of a trilogy.
@electrolite77 To quote homer simpson: Money can be exchanged for goods and services!
I'm quite familiar with exchanging a greater amount of it for a physical copy than a digital one as I, along with most people who choose physical, prefer it for reasons that are eliminated by tactics like this.
I believe your point is that its preferable for a game to be slightly cheaper and incomplete rather than more expensive and complete, which I personally disagree with. Games sell for varied prices based largely on their cost to produce be that development or physical media cost. This is nothing new, I paid more for superfx games in the SNES days as the carts cost more to produce.
There's already an option that's tied to eshop for those that want it: digital download. The point is to require a physical game to be more than a DRM token to an eshop download, such that it may be played down the track once the switch eshop is shut down just as the wii eshop will be next January.
A small crack is appearing just next to the power button, on the rear part of the casing. Console has been played exclusively in portable mode so cant be related to docked-heat issues, and has always been kept in a hori case/well looked after. Nintendo need to address this and repair the manufacturing/design fault for all consoles, both in and out of warranty.
The only constraint they're struggling with is ponying up for an appropriately sized cart for the games. 16 and 32GB carts exist so there is zero excuse for this kind of behaviour. Nintendo should outright disallow it. If you don't want to sell a physical copy properly then the game should be digital only and the publisher can deal with the lost sales.

Very fitting. Just like sonic those musicians are at their best when they keep their mouths shut.

I wish they'd add an option to stop it prompting the user to sign in every time the game is launched.

I'm normally not much a fan of marketing, but Reggie is a genuinely likeable guy. He was excellent at his job.

I'm glad it's not $430, that would be too much.

I dont make or watch game playthrough videos, but I believe the audience is a little broader than you describe.
