Re: Video: Switch 2's GameCube Emulation Apparently Has Underlying Issues Nintendo "Desperately Needs To Fix"

I noticed the input delay in Wind Waker on day 1 of the NS2 and it's been making me hesitant to replay. GX did feel a bit snappier in comparison and I appreciate the widescreen setting going to full 16:9.

What I'm still puzzled by is Nintendo not letting us black out the pillarbox bars on the sides of NSO. I'd much rather see pure black than the weird dotted gray pattern, which is a constant reminder I'm playing through an app instead of just seeing the game. Why can't that be a toggle? (I'm not asking to stretch 4:3 games, just to hide the graphical border.)

@PinderSchloss It's totally possible Wind Waker HD will be ported in due time (along with Twilight Princess HD, the enhanced versions of OOT + MM, etc), but this is much less work for them and still provides something compelling and nostalgic that's giving a small reason to move to NS2. I don't necessarily agree with it being the best choice for fans, but I see why they went this route for now and I'm glad the original game is being presented in this way for now.

Re: Metroid Prime Engineer Calls Out Nintendo, Says Not Crediting OG Devs In Remaster Is "Petty And Ridiculous"

@Browny "Someone created the code or art used to make a door or bug or monster in a game. They got paid to do it, got their name on the credits. 20 years later someone else was paid to do the same thing, and told to use the original game as a point of reference. Now they get to have their name in the credits instead"

It sounds to me like you're unfamiliar with what "Metroid Prime Remastered" is. It's not a remake of the original. It's a port with enhanced graphics and controls, running ON TOP of the original codebase and artwork.

@nimnio "He got paid"? The article clearly states that multiple members of the original Metroid Prime team have called this into question, and for good reason.

"The credits are just a cute tradition. The vast majority of industries don’t have them"

Most creative industries do. Artists are credited, authors are credited, film crews are credited, actors are credited, musicians are credited and, most applicably to this discussion, game developers ARE credited. And that team can include hundreds including all of the fields mentioned above.

@nimnio It's "petty" to want your team to be credited for a game they built? "Metroid Prime Remastered" isn't equivalent to a movie being rebooted decades later with a new script and cast; it's a 1:1 enhancement of the original game that those people brought into existence through years of work.

I'm going to guess you've never worked in any creative industry based on your comment. And hopefully no creatives have to work with you.

Re: New Banjo-Kazooie Merch Fuels Fresh Speculation Over A Series Revival

@nitwit I work in the entertainment industry. Yes, obviously merch companies are told about new games before they're announced because it takes months to create products. But you're missing my point about how there was new Banjo (and Conker) merch over 6 months ago with plenty of speculation and no corresponding games. There's no reason to believe this is different.
