Man, there's alot of hate floating about. Kinect doesn't look too impressive just yet, but it all depends on the software. If they can put together some games that properly take advantage of the non-controllerey possibilities, then it'll be a success and worthwhile. Otherwise, it won't . . .
Not psyched about the return of spring or bee Maeio, but this is going to be a lot of fun. And I am really psyched for Mario-balancing-on-top-of-a-ball Mario.
Huh, I just ordered a copy of FF6Advance, didn't even realize this was in the works. Can't say I care that they're not doing this anymore; Amano doesn't translate into 3D. The game looks fine as it is. (I just really only ordered the GBA version to check out the new translation. I love my SNES FFIII cart and snuggle with it at night like it's a teddy bear, but I so wish I read Japanese so I could read the original game.)
Thanks for the well-wishes, those of you who were able to get over your seething jealousy. Can't wait to bust this out to play Cave Story with, with my sweaty hands, while scarfing down handfuls of Cheetos . . . but what's a 'compo'?
@Sean Aaron: that's nice and all that they put some work into the English track, but some of us are of the opinion that in this day and age there is no excuse for not giving us a Japanese audio track if one has been recorded. Not including it is just laziness.
The only place I ever take my Wii is my sister's, and since her husband has a Wii, too, all I have to do is unplug his and plug mine into his wires. No thanks, Nintendo.
@28: I think you're forgetting SML2 was also the premier of the greatest Mario-universe character ever, Wario.
But yeah, Sunshine rocks. I even love the blue coins. But, like so many people, I love the FLUDDless platforming sections best. And the squid surfing seriously annoyed me for a while.
For my part, I'll admit I'm biased. My parent's wouldn't let me have a console growing up, so I had to save up, buy an SNES behind their backs, and sneak it downstairs to play when they weren't around. SMW was the only game I had to play for a long time. I can intellectually understand that SMB3 might be the better game on some hypothetical objective scale, but I doubt it. Super Mario World rocks my world.
And as for 3D it's so hard to choose, but Sunshine might be my favorite. Never understood why it got so much hate.
One of the used stores in my area has had four of these for a couple of years for like 10-15 bucks each. It's been in the back of my mind for a while that I should head over there and pick one up, and this article has just made that impulse stronger.
I'll probably get this, but really I'd've been much happier spending much less for a VCA release of Bad Dudes. Why couldn't they have put Karnov on this?
I've still got my copy of DK64, so I can get my fix of arcade DK, but yes, why is this even a debate? Of course they should be released, all of them. So that one level is a cement factory? I always thought it was a pie factory.
I figured it'd be something like that. I did know Nue was the driving force (when that Valkyrie crashes into the Nue studio it's hard to miss). But dammit as much as people on this site love praising reviewers, said reviewers shouldn't get our hopes up with extraneous non-pertinent information. For one bright shining moment there, I had visions of Lyn Kaifun going all Shao Pai Lon on Ryu's arse.
Tatsunoko was involved with Macross? Please tell me there are Macross characters in this game. (Even though I kind of doubt it since there aren't really any superpowers in that show.)
Just beat Shadow Dancer for the first time last night on my PS2 Genesis collection, yet I kinda want to download it for VC just to encourage them. On the fence about Muscle March, but it being only 500 pts might tip the scales in its favor.
@StarBoy: Actually, I find turning off the shuriken makes it easier. Most of the tougher enemies block your shuriken unless you hit them just right; I find it's more reliable to just go with the sword.
Yay! Castlevania! Hopefully it'll be just as awesome as the original. Never understood why Castlevania the Adventure got so much hate.
Unfortunately, it's now the last update of the year and they haven't released my Lolo 3, and I have short days to go before my 1 free NES credit expires. I was hoping (against hope) that a Lolo 3 release would make my decision easy, but now I have to decide between Mega Man 3, Final Fantasy, and Blaster Master. Decisions . . .
I'll pass. I still play my old PS1 copy of SFα3 every now and then, and that's where my α series nostalgia lies. The only SF games I'm interested in are SF1 (just out of curiosity—I'm sure it's just as lousy as everyone says it is, which is why I haven't downloaded Fighting Street yet) and SSFT2. If Capcom ever decides to support VCA, I hope they start with that.
@motang: thanks for mentioning your Ubuntu desktop. I checked mine, and sure enough there it is under games. Never played this before; I think I'll give it a go.
When I saw this on the shop channel Monday was tempted to use my one free NES download for this. Glad I held off. Still curious about this game, but the review has dampened it somewhat. I'll probably just borrow the wiimake from my brother-in-law and leave it at that.
To quote StarBoy91: Yay!!! Indiana Jones!!! Sweetness! Still, ever since I downloaded the Nyxquest demo I haven't been able to get back on the Wii Shop channel. This happen to anybody else?
I think I'll wait until Monday on the (extremely unlikely) chance that Lolo 3 shows up, but that's an instant download no matter if it were 1000 points. Unfortunately, I already have most of the NES games I want. I'll probably go with FFantasy, although I am tempted by Mega Man 3, and to a much lesser extent Mario 3
I hope I don't sound like a conceited bastard, but none of that looked too hard. The Yoshi/Bullet Bill part was pretty sweet, but I know I could duplicate everything in that video (with enough practice).
Had this game when I was in high school, and I could play it through twice, but I was never able to beat the second 7th level with the bracelet. I finally picked up the GBA mashup a year or two agoand finally beat it, but only because of the save feature it had. It's absolutely impossible on the original cartridge. This is the game that cooked my first SNES; I'd leave it on so long not wanting to lose my progress.

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - June 2010
Is making me wish they'd release Karnov for VCA.
Re: Charles Martinet Shares Your Pain, Waluigi
I don't understand why there's all this Waluigi hate. Sure, he's not a very fleshed out character—so give him a game and flesh him out!

I'm just as glad it's an April Fool's Day joke . . . I can't afford a DSi.

I'm gonna laugh so hard if I win this, cause I really don't care at all about it. I'd probably just put it up on EBay

Shoot, just hit a bug in Rondo. Oh well, the music's rockin'.

No question, this is my all time favorite Shinobi game. I didn't even realize there was an arcade Shadow Dancer, though; I hope they release that.

Re: WiiWare Demo Program Proving Successful
The demos did their job with me. Got all the demos except Pokémon, was interested in WoG and NyxQuest, just got the other two because they were free, but the demos convinced me not to buy WoG or NyxQuest, and when I did get around to playing the other two demos I ended up buying them both.
Re: Mario Was Almost Called Mr Video

Re: Nintendo Super Guide Mode in NSMB Wii: The Details

Hmm, I think maybe it's time to boot up SMB2j and die a bunch of times.
Re: Nintendo Download: Fantasies, Wars and Words (US)
Well, now I know what I'll get when NoA gives me that internet channel rebate credit. Unless Lolo 3 comes out soon.
Re: Review: Metroid Prime Trilogy (Wii)
Why did they have to go with the PAL version, at least for MP1? The story was much better in the American version.
