When I was 10 years old, I told my parents that I wanted NBA JAM for my birthday on the SNES. I remember after a few plays I felt extremely disappointed, and thought it was a shell of the arcade version I had been playing.
I called the owner of the local videogame store and asked if I could trade in the game. He told me I could stop by and take a look at his collection.
I entered his shop, and after constant thinking and searching, I came across secret of mana in a case without the instruction book. I had been reading up on this game in Nintendo Power, and heard nothing but great things about the length, pace, etc. So I took the plunge on my first RPG.
I rode my bike home in the pouring rain with this youthful excitment...I was eager to explore this bold new world.
And I can say, Secret of Mana did not dissapoint. I was entrenched by the angelic music...the opening sequence with the heart beat...and the main character's eventual exile from his hometown. It was heart breaking, but the beginning of a wildly engaging journey...and I loved every minute.
So the point of my story...if you are saying there's an even better sequel hanging out there in Japan, please bring it over. I'm sure my 33 year old self will get as much enjoyment as my 10 year old self did of the original.
Over on gamerankings, Deux Ex is one of the top ranked games...
I agree that Sonic All Star was fantastic and did certain things that Mario Kart 8 didn't, including a better sense of speed and more transformative courses. It also supports 5 players, which MK8 doesn't. I also thought Rayman was amazing. Great replay value with the daily challenges and essentially have you two games for the discounted price of one.
Best individual game deals I saw... Animal Crossing $25 walmart Mario 3d world $49 kmart zelda albw $30 kmart wind waker hd $40 kmart rayman legends $25 gamestop zombie u used $10 gamestop
Also toys r us has a buy one get one 40 percent off.
I don't understand why no video game journalists ask Reggie or Iwata what they are doing to get the Maddens and the GTAS not being offered on Nintendo's console. A few years ago Reggie said they must do what they can to get Gta... but I'd truly like to know what progress has been made.
If anything, it looks like they've regressed on 3rd party relationships.
@Cuddles what's funny though, is as Nintendo fans, we often buy the same game twice... maybe even three times. Mario bros. 3 was released on the nes, repackaged for the gba, then again for the wii, 3ds, wii u.
A lack of good games can be blamed for the lack of wii u sales as a whole... but it's the value...or lack thereof contributing to the poor basic model sales. Getting a game + 4x storage,+ Nintendo network savings more than makes up for the price difference. Plus, the fact that the os takes up half the already party amount of space on the basic, and you have a console that is almost irrelevant at launch.
Regardless of the exact numbers, this is good news and it would be a nice success story if pikmin became the game to ignite wii u sales. Kind of like the little engine that could...
How about God's or the creators controller? Or playing with a new perspective, or a new way to express yourself? Or Nintendo could rip off the old ipad commercials and show all the different ways to play.
I wonder where Mario World 2 would rank if they included it? That game didn't have the cultural significance as the first, but many people and critics agree that the sequel was deeper and more imaginative than the first.

Re: Community: Your Favourite 3DS Games - Fifth Anniversary Edition
Am I missing something from the list? Fire Emblem Fates has a higher score and more user scores than all on the list...not sure why it's off.

Maybe they thought, if Nintendo can get away with it, why not us?

Re: Pikmin 3 Makes Japanese Chart Debut at Number One, Boosts Wii U Hardware Sales
Also for what it's worth, nsmbu sold 166k in its first week in Japan. Not sure if that was a full week of sales.
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes Japanese Chart Debut at Number One, Boosts Wii U Hardware Sales
@element187 Ah, good point. Also, I'm not sure how many days were included for the first week of pikmin 1 and 2.
Re: Pikmin 3 Makes Japanese Chart Debut at Number One, Boosts Wii U Hardware Sales
According to vgchartz...
pikmin 1 first week sales- 103k
pikmin 2 - 189k
So, not really sure what to make of the wii u numbers... did all that exposure with Nintendo land and new play really help sales?
