Konami once again showing why they're the most hated company in the industry.
Apparently killing MGS and Silent Hill wasn't enough. I've played them all before but for people looking forward to finally playing them, especially on Switch. This is bloody devastating.
I haven't bought a single Konami product since MGSV. It's been 8 years. If their name has been attached to anything, it's not had my money. I was looking forward to breaking that trend with this and Delta.
@Zeroo
Even if that were the case, that doesn't magically make them what they WERE.
And yes, you're right, I CAN go back and play the older titles. I have. All of them. And wish for something new in the same vein.
Like others here have pointed out, I'm disappointed Nintendo doesn't feel that there's room for both styles.
A lot of people here are voicing a wish to return to form that was a feeling I was having while literally in the middle of my playthrough of BoTW back in 2017.
So I just have to be content with never playing an actual Zelda game ever again. BoTW and ToTK changed the formula so much that they're decent games on their own yet awful "Zelda" games. If BoTW had no Zelda characters, enemies or locations: No-one would have thought it felt like Zelda had it been called something else.
If we're not counting A Link Between Worlds based on it using the same map as A Link to The Past, the last Zelda game that actually FELT like a Zelda game to be released was Skyward Sword... in 2011...
I enjoyed older Zelda titles precisely because of the kind of experience they brought but BoTW didn't scratch that itch and from what I've seen of my SO playing ToTK, it's more of the same.
It's also disappointing because I found BoTW's gameplay loop and core ideas and mechanics to be infuriating and un-rewarding and left me asking: "What was gained from Zelda becoming truly open-world?" durability on weapons, a barren map, no dungeons, nonsensical puzzles and terrible, un-rewarding combat.
I was hoping we may at least have a proper return to form after ToTK but Nintendo are holding firm on this being how Zelda is for, seemingly, the rest of the time I'm alive.
Wow, I know I haven't been on NintendoLife that long but this is the first 10 I've ever seen. It's warranted, I'd say. Persona 5 is my most favorite game of all time.
I've got the Collector's Edition for the PS5 version preordered and I've also preordered one copy of the Xbox, Switch versions and I'll buy it on Steam, too.
Persona 5 is completely unmatched in the entire industry. Bar none. An absolute damn masterpiece. The epitome of perfection in gaming.
Ugh, please don't. I thought they would have read the room after V3 but Summer Camp still happened. The series ended after Ultra Despair Girls and the 3 anime for me.
I'm excited for Raincode and still plan to play World's End Club but for **** sake, let Danganronpa be done.
I'd argue it's been almost 9 years. While I do think BotW is ok, it changed so much from the core formula that it's barely a Zelda game. We haven't had a new Zelda game since 2013 with A Link Between Worlds, in my eyes.
And if it's up for debate whether ALBW was a new entry because it used ALttP's map then Skyward Sword in 2011 was the last actual Zelda game. And people don't even like that one.
All in all, it's been over 10 years......god, I hope BotW2 is good.
How on god's green earth did he not know who Mario was? Literally one of the most popular mascots in fictional media.
Even people who've never ever seen footage of a video game know who Super Mario is. Nothing against Bob Hoskins personally but good lord, the ignorance.
Edit: Just re-read the article. I'm dumb. The movie was so awful, he didn't even realise it was based on Mario. My bad.
@Atticus-XI Because the poor work practices people had to put up with back then weren't ok then and they still aren't now.
So yes, people should be exempt from crunch, harassment and just generally crap treatment in the workforce. Especially those who have to work their asses off to at least put food on the table. Unlike execs earning hundreds of thousands per hour just for sitting at a desk.
No-one is saying bad workplace treatment was fine when you were young. We're saying it simply isn't improving still.
Yeah, it'll come out on Switch and Xbox, I think. PlayStation won't touch anything with a lot of Japanese flair without censoring it a ton. Just look at what happened with the likes of Hyperdimension and Senran Kagura.
Lollipop Chainsaw is VERY Japanese and it's a great game but that was on PS3 when Sony actually let heavily Japanese games on their consoles.
I've just finished playing through the whole game on NSO EP in one sitting and had a blast replaying it after so long and it was awesome. I love this game.
I'm definitely putting New Pokemon Snap back in my Switch and restarting that now. I never did get too far into the sequel, no idea why.
I would absolutely buy a beefier Switch but not BECAUSE of Botw2. I'm gunna get Botw2 and I look forward to seeing what Nintendo have improved on but I wasn't super into Botw1 so them hypothetically doing a Switch Pro + Botw2, well...Botw2 isn't the MAIN reason I'd be making that purchase.
In another reality, Sunbreak is releasing with a Switch Pro and I'm buying it for the improved hardware and game in equal amounts. Rise was fantastic.
This could just be me because I'm so used to just playing the Inverted Song of Time but does everything in the game feel like it's running too fast to anyone else?
Edit: The time is only like that for the introductory Deku Link segment. Forgot that was a thing.
@NintendoWife I think the reason it's difficult for emulators to run games at higher frame rates than they originally were is simply down to how old the games are. It's like using an app or software to change a 360p picture to 4K resolution. It's just never going to look good.
None of us here are game devs making games for the Switch so no-one can say for sure about Dying Light 2 but the Switch has many top-heavy games that still run beautifully.
Heck, the Switch version of DOOM 2016 is still my favorite way to play that game and I played a bunch of it on PS4 first.
I'm also playing through Metro 2033 on my Switch right now, it's really good! Me and the gf have both bought a copy of Dying Light 1 on the Switch. She played the crap out of the PS4 version and insisted I play it.
Hopefully they do natively port 2 to the Switch. I've seen in reviews that Techland have done a fantastic job of porting 1 so 2 can't be THAT unfeasible. I still stand by my stance that the Switch is more powerful than people think it is.
Maybe the Switch version getting delayed is because they're making it an actual physical, non-cloud version? A long shot, I know. But maybe? I can't think of any other way the delay would make any sense.
"Isn't coming to Switch"
Ah yes, so leave out the game that's more actually pertinent to Danganronpa as a whole than V3 is. I'm really glad I didn't buy Decadence, UDG should have been included.
Man, it won't take away how amazing everything about Danganronpa was up to but not including V3 but my lord, they won't stop putting a damper on their own hard work creating this franchise. Between Decadence not having UDG but V3 which I honestly think should be forgotten, the awful Summer Camp nonsense and now this.
@%&#, I wish this franchise ended after the Danganronpa 3 anime. I never asked for this to continue beyond that. Who the hell did?!
Zero Escape never got quite as good as Danganronpa but jeez, at least it knew to conclude.
P.S. No, I won't "speak up" to get it on Switch. It shouldn't have been excluded in the first place.
@StuartGipp Not at all, 8 and 9 are amazing. I do think 5/10 reviews should be seen as average.
Sorry I made an assumption on your character. It's always great to hear there's Danganronpa fans out there and your opinion is more constructive and well thought than my own.
I mean hey, you review games for a living. I massively respect that, I'm just an idiot on the Internet. Sorry if I came across as rude. Much respect to you, dude!
Again, not really understanding the cons here. I'm beginning to think these kind of games simply may not be the reviewers cup of tea but that's fine. No disrespect.
Danganronpa 2 has the best characters, music, story and gameplay out of them all and it's very easily what I would consider to be the best Visual Novel ever made and I'm an avid enjoyer of the game genre.
After this, the series would go on to release Ultra Despair Girls and the Danganronpa 3 anime which are also awesome before becoming a complete joke with V3 but that doesn't stop Danganronpa 2 completely blowing the likes of the Zero Escape Trilogy and Ace Attorney out of the water.
Danganronpa 2 is the 10/10 masterpiece of the Visual Novel genre of video games!
Danganronpa 1 is absolutely fantastic. I don't understand the: "Treatment of heavy themes can lack nuance" con. I've played 1 very recently and there literally isn't anything "problematic" in the game. Trial 2 doesn't have anything in it that could be considered offensive and I remember that trial pretty well.
My point is 1 isn't as good as 2 but it's still fantastic!
Microtransactions, really? How did the best VN series ever made become this? This is pathetic and so sad to see. I stand by my stance this series should have ended after the Danganronpa 3 anime.
V3's ending felt like it was trying to one-up the insanity of 2's final hours which were even crazier than 1's and unlike 1 and 2 where the big plot twists felt well earned and awesomely written and were really cool. V3's unfortunately tipped into just being outright stupid.
I'd say play 1 and 2. Hopefully UDG will come to the Switch at some point, its omission is aggravating as it's more important to the overarching plot than V3 and I can't say I really see the point of the Summer Camp thingy.
Basically; play Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Danganronpa: Ultra Despair Girls, watch the Danganronpa 3 anime and you have the Danganronpa series in its entirety.
Sorry ^^" I dunno, man. I really echo @nessisonett 's view where he said: "It’s a bit expensive for what you get but not enough for me to do without." I would have liked it to be no more than £30 but my N64 cartridge of OoT has recently died and playing it on Switch would be great so I don't wanna miss out just for £5 more.
I'm gunna go for it. The cheeky sods must have been listening when I said I thought it would be £30 and the max I'd pay was £35. It has come to light that they went for the max bracket of my prediction at £34.99 thus yes, I'll bite.
I like the art style, personally. It's replicating the small characters as they were as DS sprites.
Making the character models look like the Sword/Shield ones wouldn't make any sense because it would go against the art aesthetic that they're trying to replicate.
@dmcc0 Several (very expensive) editions of games, microtransactions, loot boxes, broken and rushed releases, going back on promises, abuse allegations. No other industry has this many problems. Music, books and movies are nowhere as bad when it comes to taking the p*ss out of the consumer base.
I've played enough games of a much higher hardware caliber than Rise to know this wouldn't be a massive undertaking. They just don't want to, I'd give em some some slack but they lie and say it's not possible.
Also, you really shouldn't have undying faith in a multimillion dollar corporation. They would love you to just blindly buy everything they put out and take advantage of you.
@dmcc0 Because out of any art medium: Games and the people that play them are severely taken for a ride. I wouldn't have cared if Capcom had simply said: "Not worth the resources" but they said: "Unable" which is complete BS.
@cleveland124 Nah, that would be annoying because then people would be forced to pay an increased price even if they don't want the Expansion Pack's additions.
I reckon it'll be £30 a year. Any more than that and I'm not gunna bite. I'm quite excited for it tbh, especially to have Switch versions of Star Fox 64 and the two N64 Zelda games.
"The Expansion Pack will unsurprisingly offer less overall" I feel like this makes no sense. Not only will people still be able to continue to buy the sub at the price it is with what it currently offers but of course the extra spending adds extra things. Extra features should cost extra money, the sub is already pretty cheap as is imo.
As long as Nintendo never pull a Sony and charge an extra £10 with no extras then actually take stuff AWAY from PS Plus and still keep the £50 price tag. There's a reason I no longer buy PS Plus but still buy NSO.
This is hilarious from a self-schadenfreude perspective. I bite my nails so I literally wouldn't be able to open the game card slot on this model. I have the same problem with the Vita game card slot as well. This was a fun read.
@YusseiWarrior3000 Which Nintendo console is that? The Switch is a hybrid. It's also a handheld which is one of peoples' main gripes with this situation. Your experience with these versions of this series will be awful.
@mjharper If you've never tried a cloud version game, you'd honestly be better off just not playing it. Luckily, the 3 main KH games are on other systems
@Pak-Man Nobody's internet connection is fast enough to be able to run any cloud game any near as fast non-cloud games. Not only will it still take about 5 to 10 years for cloud games to be even be some semblance of passable but they will never be as fast as everything natively running through a cable from your console to your TV.
I haven't played 1 and 2 since the PS3 re-releases and have yet to play 3 so I would have loved to pick these up even if they had sold all three games separately...then, as soon as I read: "Cloud Version" I was immediately unsold.
Guys, please stop making the Switch look awful and actually please bother to port your bloody games.

As long as Nintendo never pull a Sony and charge an extra £10 with no extras then actually take stuff AWAY from PS Plus and still keep the £50 price tag. There's a reason I no longer buy PS Plus but still buy NSO.

@dartmonkey
That's legit me right now, well it's actually with Monster Hunter Rise but I get the sentiment all the same XD
Re: Soapbox: We Need To Talk About The One Thing Nintendo Got Wrong With The Switch OLED
This is hilarious from a self-schadenfreude perspective. I bite my nails so I literally wouldn't be able to open the game card slot on this model. I have the same problem with the Vita game card slot as well. This was a fun read.
Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The "Cloud Versions" Of Kingdom Hearts On Switch?
@YusseiWarrior3000
Which Nintendo console is that? The Switch is a hybrid. It's also a handheld which is one of peoples' main gripes with this situation. Your experience with these versions of this series will be awful.
Re: Three Kingdom Hearts Games Are Coming To Switch, But They're All Cloud Versions
@twadebarcelona
And neither are these cloud versions. What's your point?
Re: Three Kingdom Hearts Games Are Coming To Switch, But They're All Cloud Versions
@mjharper
If you've never tried a cloud version game, you'd honestly be better off just not playing it. Luckily, the 3 main KH games are on other systems
Re: Three Kingdom Hearts Games Are Coming To Switch, But They're All Cloud Versions
@Pak-Man
Nobody's internet connection is fast enough to be able to run any cloud game any near as fast non-cloud games. Not only will it still take about 5 to 10 years for cloud games to be even be some semblance of passable but they will never be as fast as everything natively running through a cable from your console to your TV.
Re: Three Kingdom Hearts Games Are Coming To Switch, But They're All Cloud Versions
