Re: Departing Eidos Montreal Boss Says Square Enix "Has Some Things To Learn" About Selling Games

Araknie

I know, i was expecting for the last Deus Ex 2 years ago and now the Tomb Raider reboot to really kick donkey with tons of million.

I played and finished them both and they great game, both have guns but you can complete the games without them if you play it smart. Yes, even Deus Ex boss battles, you just need to foucs skills on critical physical strikes and explosives and you do that without guns. And in Tomb Raider i defeat every single enemy with my bow and with physical attacks, i use the guns only to break stuff.

Those two are games that deliver this kind of option to player, but Square-Enix didn't even make a fuss about making sure the games are so great in their Ads.

The point is that i don't see a really large number of people asking for a sequel for both of these franchises and i can't understand why since they are good games.

Eidos sold more games when they were alone, being under this kind of publisher leaves only a soar result.

2.50m copies for Tomb Raider.
2.80m copies for Deus Ex Human Revolution.

Not bad but another recent and creative game like Borderlands 2 sold 4.40m copies. He's right when he says they hit any home-run.

Re: Nintendo Comments On EarthBound's Inflated Pricing

Araknie

I would buy a boxed copy of the game for Wii U for even 30 bucks here in europe, really it was never released here before.

We asked for a costly procudtion to be out and we lament that it costs? No wonder some games remain in Japan.

Same happened with Sin & Punishment and Rond of Blood VC on the Wii for the same exact reason.

Get your stuff togheter folks and start backing up Nintendo when get what you asked for, keep complaing and will come the day when Nintendo will just ignore us.

And i don't like being in that situation just because hatred and crazy fanboys that give too much credit to journalism before using their own mind, forgotting also they have one.

What bothers me most is that when journalism talks gold about a game, just like Pikmin 3 right now, nobody give a crap, the hype is nullified and surely we got another construced issue to come up with in the meanwhile.

I have to hate this modern and stupid gaming world and his fanboys and the obligatory hatred, i hate who hates...because it's stupid to hate a videogame company.

It's just those people who hates a movie or an actor like they are obligated to whatch them, roar so angry because i saw a movie with an actor i hate and i knew it i only would hate it more.

So. Really. Stupid.

Re: Shigeru Miyamoto "Wanted to go to HD Sooner" With the Wii

Araknie

That's not the problem, the problem is that Nintendo has chosen to go dual screen on the Home Console and people cannot understand that this kind of tecnology comes also at a cost.
Now everybody wants do to it but they never even come near the Gamepad, because they have consoles only based on sheer power that already cost a lot and probably they are cutting down, surely Sony will risk losses having the PS4 at only 400€/$. So having full fledged Gampad will only make the costs raise a lot, because they have to get to level up their GPU to the Wii U standard to avoid any kind of lag between a Gamepad and the TV.
But everybody looks at sheer graphical power and think that only by that a console is better or worse.

That's the problem, it's redneck mentality that will cause any kind of consoles it's demise.

Also, they are perordering the Xbox One having already surpassed that preorders of the Xbox 360. And the Xbox One costs 500€/$.
How many proof that this gaming community is getting stupider by any day you need before realizing what is the thruth? Come on, wake up!

Re: Talking Point: Pikmin 3 Shows the First Shoots of the Wii U's Planned Recovery

Araknie

Pikmin 3 is a KA in the Japanese market and the live reactions from anyone who got it it's a proof.

The point is: Western market is still open to Japanese oriented games? If a SNES would be out today, will it sell? Those are the questions, really, Nintendo, i hope, will not turn more Western and do what everybody is doing because they are the last chanche for many Japanese developers to make something will not get a publisher on other consoles. It's like that since the Wii and DS market so it's no news, that when Sony (Microsoft is really out the Japanese market), in 2006, when Sony slowly decided that praising the westerns was more important than having a true identity like with the PS1 and PS2.
So the final question is: there is still market for Japanese market that many people still love but so many others make fun of everyday?

Re: Satoru Iwata Refutes Claim That Nintendo Is "Suffering" Right Now

Araknie

Almost nobody understand this, saying Nintendo is doomed means they got no resources nor ideas left to do something.

Like Nikkei is late on the thread since in Japan everybody is already saying that Pikmin 3 is another Miyamoto's KA so really shut your mouth and try some games.

The ship is already turning but, like the Wii, journalism will be ignoring some facts for at least one year.

Re: Wii U Summer System Update Pushed Back To The Fall

Araknie

It's obviously because they are adding more stuff in it, it's not like a game that most delays are technical stuff, an updated delayed means only more stuff.

Because they did one today and it's pretty useful, people won't say that, but thinking to wake up the Wii U every day just to check on updates was really boring, now i don't have to.

I have to keep doing that only with the 3DS but it's understanble, a portable works differently, you can't have it on sleep or buttery will run out, the Wii U works on direct power so this is a perfect solution.

Re: Nintendo: Wii U Fire Emblem Would Need To Sell 700K To Justify The Effort

Araknie

Really, there's actually people thinking that the sales on Fire Emblem: Awakening are good?

0.95 out of more than 30 milion consoles on 3DS, it's a niche title that's also so expensive because it goes far in animation and detail by necessity of gameplay. That ratio is low, whoever thinks it did well doesn't really know.

I didn't sell much i can't even see it right now on the Wii U it's not a game that sells good.

Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon did more than 2 milion, that's more like it. 2 milion and up and there you a game that drives the sales of a console.

For the Wii U a ratio of about 700.000 sales is about right and that's really high considering there's barely more than 3 milion Wii Us sold out there, considering mine also.

Really, everybody complains about Nintendo but who knows what's talking about?

I did some research before commenting because i didn't want to sound stupid and check somethings out before agreeing with the mass.

Re: Nintendo Wins Another Court Battle with R4 Cartridge Manufacturers

Araknie

Finally, really this was going on from too long.

What i don't like, that i discovered after a bit of research, is that Sony has never spoken about banning piracy.

With the PS4 coming out they should really say it out that the cloud will be constantly keep secure and updated, really recently hackers attacked the clouds of Ubisoft France and Nintendo Japan...i hope they did something this time in Sony's house.

Even if looking at people talking about homebrews for the PSVita is not a good sign.
Man i shouldn't have done that research right now, i don't like when a company stays silent on a big issue like this.

Re: Project X Zone Battles Into UK Top 20 in Debut Week

Araknie

@ThomasBW84 I think that there's no market anymore for Japanese games in the West, the whole past generation all West developers spent time destryoing genres and insulting the japanese way of doing things by ever mean possibile.

That affected sales in the long term because people's mind are affected by change and most people come to accept it, sigh, so now what we have on offer on Nintendo platforms and Sony/Microsoft's platforms is a totally different deal.

So now we a lot of people falling in the trap and insulting and doubting Nintendo's policy, witch is unchanged since the 80's, just because they privilege japanese developers and do things differently, have different games and, since the N64, privileged exclusives before multiplatforms.

Now we have people saying that have few but great exclusives is bad because multiplatform is the way, while i still think that buying a console for a game that you can find on another is plain stupid.

I will stick with Nintendo till they do consoles, but i don't think they will ever stop because many japanese developers, in 2012 even Capcom, Namco and Platinum Games joined the boat, depend from the having consoles. Simply because Sony doesn't care to push developers to port their games here, see the PSVita and early days of PS3; Microsoft is simply branded american and you can't appeal the japanese market with FPSs and Car games.
