@westman98 the dude is an immature, sad little jerk.
Can’t take the fact he’s categorically wrong in what he’s saying so he starts taking pop shots and clutching at straws saying your account and mine are alt accounts from the same person.
@inenai surely not, as you, me, and most logical thinkers out there would know doing something like that would be a complete financial bomb - next to nobody is going to spend $180 on three old games, regardless of how great they are..
@BrianJL absolutely. No matter how phenomenal these games are, people aren’t going to fork out $150-$180 on all three games.
Nintendo themselves would know how unrealistic doing this would be - the Prime series didn’t shift a bucket load when they were originally launched, so expecting fans to pay three separate amounts is entirely unrealistic.
The only way I can see this happening is if all three titles were in the ‘budget’ range, where buying all three would come in at around, or maybe just more, than the price of a new first party game. That, or release it as a trilogy package.
I think the latter would sell a lot more than making the releases separate.
@BloodNinja again. I disagree.
Like them or not, franchises like Animal Crossing, Kirby, Fire Emblem and Pokemon are huge, and the lesser loved franchises (Donkey Kong, legacy IPs etc) are what has made Nintendo as successful as it is today.
Nintendo haven’t got to where they are today because they’re producing powerhouse consoles. They are fully aware that their brand name and their IP generate enough goodwill to compete with Sony and Microsoft for the main part. A lot of people buy Nintendo solely on the exclusive titles you can’t experience elsewhere.
Nintendo can, and do, compete based on its catalogue of franchises. Even the lesser represented franchises hold value to Nintendo as a company as ultimately they provide the biggest selling points in wanting to buy a Nintendo console. New IPs like Splatoon show that Nintendo places faith and value in its own creations.
They’re also not stupid enough to release the Prime games as three separate full priced games, as they wouldn’t sell at all well to justify the practise.
If you think we’ll be asked to pay $150-$180 for these three games, I don’t know what to tell you, Ninja approved or not…
@Yosher why is it super stupid to re release the Prime trilogy? The Wii version is hard to obtain, and that’s assuming people still want to hook their Wii’s up in 2022..
Re releasing these, either as ports or worked from the ground up games will generate sales for Nintendo…
@Kamalen in which case - why would they release them in staggered instalments?
I’m also pretty certain that if they were to release them all at a high price point the vast, vast majority of people would steer clear of them. Barely anyone would drop full price on three games like this. A package makes more sense.
@SakuraHaruka I think it’s more the fact that we’re not as used to mass third party support and are used to the Indies and Nintendo first party games that this seems to be a bit of a curveball.

@pnott it doesn’t matter. It’s still 5 exclusives (7 including Live A Live and Advance Wars) releasing in the final 6 months of the year.
It averages one exclusive release per month until the end of the year.
How can that be ‘not enough games’ in anyone’s opinion? Are you expecting a new exclusive to release every other week?
Think you need to reign in your expectations if the average of an exclusive a month isn’t enough for you. Seems pretty much a spoilt, entitled opinion to have.
@anoyonmus absolutely. Although I will say that third party games might be a bit harder to come by on the Switch as the hardware is becoming more aged compared to the PS5 and Series S/X so we might not get as many ports…
Genuinely curious as to what we might see, although I daresay any ports will be older games or less graphically intensive ones.
@pnott very little? In terms of exclusives, we still have the following to look forward to:
Xenoblade Chronicles 3
Splatoon 3
Bayonetta 3
Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
That’s five big exclusives for the remaining 6 months of the year. To me, that’s a lot of new games - do Sony and Microsoft have new exclusives launching every month between now and the end of the year?
@Spagetti69 it won’t be Indie stuff though will it? Thought that’s what the specific Nindies showcases were for..
To me, this is the bigger developers and what they’ll bring to the console. It’s surprising really as I can’t quite remember the last time we had a Direct like this..
@Anti-Matter - my point remains, regardless of whether or not you block me.
You sit on this site acting like every decision is meant to solely cater to you and you alone.
You’re extremely ignorant of other peoples needs and wishes to the point it annoys other people on this site. We all agreed a month or two ago when you kept going on and on and on about not liking football and only wanted boxing in Switch Sports, and here you are again adding nothing to the discussion by saying you don’t like games like this.
Well guess what? Plenty of people do. The world doesn’t revolve around you. It’s about time you learned to accept what other people want. You seem to be an extremely unpleasant individual.
@steventonysmith plenty to look forward to there! Not to mention, Shredders Revenge for those of us who chose to wait for the physical version, which comes out the end of July…
@Anti-Matter so why comment then? You’re very keen to push your thoughts on everything you don’t like to people here, almost to the point where you expect everything to be catered to you and you alone.
@jarvismp if those devs want to reach a bigger audience, they should put the work in to port their games over.
The Switch is by far the biggest console of the three out now (Switch / PS5 / Series X+S), so it’s in developers best interests to do a decent port job.
Heck - some of them outsource the port work to external devs. I get that there is going to be a growing disparity in system limitations going forward, but there really aren’t THAT many great multi console games out at present..
We’ll see a Switch successor when Nintendo are ready to unveil it..
@jarvismp think in the instance of this game, it’s poor optimisation.
It’s not a looker in general, and considering the Switch has had some fantastic ports of triple A games that had no right to run or look as good as they did on the Switch, think this is Ubisoft not putting the work in on the Switch version.
It’s no more impressive graphically than other F2P games, and they all run and look fine on the Switch.
@WhiteUmbrella Konami were phenomenal in the 16 bit era. Can’t see any kind of acquisition, especially as they don’t have too many valuable IPs (a lot of their best 16 bit games we’re movie/cartoon tie ins) but would love to see a new game in the Sparkster / Rocket Knight series and a new Goeman game.
@samuelvictor it’s funny, as I never remember the NES/Master System thing although I now know the Master System was more popular over here in England..
Think I got a NES as one of my best friends at the time had one (pointless fact - my friends dad worked in the US in and off over the years (which I daresay is the reason he had a NES) The family ended up emigrating over there when I would of been around 10 years old, and said friend now works as a news anchor in America - he’s worked for CNN and is currently with CBS)
@Serpenterror eh. 3D All Stars was a rip off - Mario 64 was around £8 if memory serves me well on the Wii U eShop and although Sunshine and Galaxy are great games, they were emulated ROMS and not worth £20+ a piece for a cut and paste job.
No thought put into the package, Galaxy 2 inexplicably left out - considering how little work was put in to put Galaxy in the collection, it wouldn’t of taken much more effort to include the sequel.
Switch Sports and Mario Strikers (acknowledging that it was Next Level who developed this) are two more modern Switch barebone releases - the practise of charging full price for something so lazy should be criticised to the high heavens in my opinion..
@Gerald since they’ve been software only, they’ve been a disappointment to me.
They had so many classic franchises and poor sales aside, a lot of their consoles were fantastic (although I think the 32X/Mega CD add ons followed shortly after by the Saturn massively hurt them in terms of a hardware developer)
@samuelvictor been a Nintendo fan since the start - still remember the excitement of Mario 64 and getting the N64 on day one here (thanks mum!)
Saying that, have a massive fondness for the Mega Drive (my best mate next door to me had one and have great memories of going to his and playing Sonic, Road Rash, Ecco, Jurassic Park and Toejam & Earl amongst others)
And I remember the weird feeling of getting a PS1 at Christmas as a 12 year old - I was still a kid, and remember the PS1 being marketed as a cool, grown up console. Looking back now, I absolutely love the console, but it was so far afield to the kind of gaming experiences I was used to at that point…
As an adult, I’m happy to own my own Mega Drive! Still have my Nintendo consoles, the first 4 Playstations (will get round to getting a PS5 one day) a Dreamcast, and the Xbox consoles (outside of the OG Xbox)
@Gofixmeaplate on the contrary - sometimes products as niche as this sell out in stupidly fast times. It depends what the production run will be, but there absolutely WILL be an audience for this.
Speaking personally - I have no interest in either the console or controller, but totally appreciate something as left field as this releasing. Quirky products are always fascinating in my eyes..
Don’t forget - at present, the console is only announced in Japan at present. For all we know, this controller could have cult status for the audience over there…
@Axecon it’s a catch 22 situation. As fans, hearing massive games announced (BotW 2, Prime 4, Bayonetta 3) is enough to create hysteria in the community…
On the other hand, the practise of announcing a game and showing NOTHING for (sometimes) years is bad practise.
There should be some kind of happy medium between announcing a new game to when we first see said game as it’s unfair on fans to get their hopes up, only to have to wait an absolute age to see even the tiniest bit of gameplay…
The turnaround from announcement to gameplay to game release of Xenoblade Chronicles 3 was a perfect way of handling those kind of situations IMO.
@samuelvictor Been playing Nintendo games since around 1990, so there is a world of goodwill attached to that company for me.
However - as you said, some of the recent titles have felt phoned in…Grabbed Switch Sports, partly to support the company, and partly because I wanted to pick up a game and thought it would be good to play with the family. Hadn’t felt so disappointed in a game in a long, long time..
@Dezzy70 absolutely. It still makes no sense to me that developers like Shin’en Multimedia weren’t asked to develop an F-Zero game after the work they did with Fast Racing Neo / Fast RMX.
And I know they’re now attached to Prime 4, but what were Retro Studios doing between 2014 when Tropcial Freeze wrapped up development to 2019 when Nintendo asked them to step in and develop Prime 4?
Also weird that the Pikmin game that Miyamoto said was nearly done way back in 2015 hasn’t appeared in any shape or form..
There are certain things Nintendo don’t do to help themselves at times..
@samuelvictor I hear you , loud and clear.
For me, I usually get most Nintendo first party or exclusive games day one - 99% they don’t release revised editions (you’ll probably think of a ton, but the only instance I can think of is Mario + Rabbids Gold Edition), as they typically hold their value long after release..
Also - I’m a sucker for limited edition versions of Nintendo games, which is another reason why I’m usually jumping in on day one a lot of the time.
Playstation / Xbox games I’m happy to wait for - there’s usually far more GOTY editions, and I’m happy to buy a good, used edition of a game for a fraction of the launch price online - the resale market just isn’t there a lot of the time for Nintendo games.
@RubyCarbuncle of course, it’s also the only way for a lot of players to be able to access some of the games in this collection (namely Sonic CD/Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles) - unless they own the older hardware/software, this might be the only option available to some people…
@samuelvictor there’s so much of it! I’d like to say I won’t pick any more of the DLC as:
1) I don’t care for the characters and 2) paying for single characters would mean I support such a shady practise (again - I’m a hypocrite for what I said above)
But truth be told, I don’t know how much willpower I have in the long run; I think I’ve grabbed all the DLC for all the Switch games I own up to this point and it’s almost become a habit.
@Banjo- I do, as I’m the idiot who ended up buying it all!
Grabbed all the costumes I thought were must owns on release (DOOM guy, Gorman, Sans, some of the Mega Man costumes) and then my OCD kicked in, telling me that as I’d started buying some of the costumes I needed them all.
Grabbed them a few at a time, and (think) I've got them all now despite knowing that ultimately they’re a waste of money from my perspective as I doubt I’ll use most of them…
In my defence, I had some gold coins saved up to use towards the DLC - grabbed most of the bigger DLC for games like BoTW, Splatoon 2, MK8D etc from sites like ShopTo as the prices are often quite a bit cheaper, and had nothing to use the coins on…
@Dezzy70 I’d love to see a new Donkey Kong game - the Kremlings and K.Rool need to return to the series!
As much as I enjoyed Returns and Tropical Freeze, those games didn’t have the same heart due to the enemy lineup.
I’d also love a new 2D Mario, but one that feels like a proper evolution of the series - the ‘new’ series really underwhelmed me, and offered little to nothing in terms of innovation compared to the NES/SNES games.
As more ‘out there’ choices, would love to see a new Wave Race or F-Zero game. I’m sure there’s countless other forgotten Nintendo franchises that would be welcomed back as well..
@Banjo- unrelated, but I’ve just complained of the audacity of Sega charging £4 for the added extras of the Deluxe edition of Origins, which then reminded me there is Monkey Ball Banana Mania DLC going for around the same price..
…I’ve just spent £11 on classic sprites, the Sega Legends and the classic soundtrack DLCs.

Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime Remaster Apparently Lined Up For November, Prime 2 And 3 To Follow
@Kamalen it depends if/what would constitute a happy middle price.
I think a collectors edition physical would sell far more at a single triple A rated price than (as you said) three $30 releases..
A HD remaster with cleaned up resolutions, and a few anniversary edition extras would be a nice package.
Re: Rumour: Metroid Prime Remaster Apparently Lined Up For November, Prime 2 And 3 To Follow
@inenai surely not, as you, me, and most logical thinkers out there would know doing something like that would be a complete financial bomb - next to nobody is going to spend $180 on three old games, regardless of how great they are..

They’d guarantee sales bringing a collection across. Three $60 games would fail miserably..

@Kamalen in which case - why would they release them in staggered instalments?

The biggest WTF here is why Nintendo would release the games individually. Makes no sense..

Playstation / Xbox games I’m happy to wait for - there’s usually far more GOTY editions, and I’m happy to buy a good, used edition of a game for a fraction of the launch price online - the resale market just isn’t there a lot of the time for Nintendo games.
Re: Review: Sonic Origins - A Fine Collection For New Fans, Less So For The Hardcore Sonic Crowd
@RubyCarbuncle of course, it’s also the only way for a lot of players to be able to access some of the games in this collection (namely Sonic CD/Sonic 3/Sonic & Knuckles) - unless they own the older hardware/software, this might be the only option available to some people…
Re: Review: Sonic Origins - A Fine Collection For New Fans, Less So For The Hardcore Sonic Crowd
@Banjo- you’re telling me! I don’t even know when I’ll pick the game up again either..
Re: Review: Sonic Origins - A Fine Collection For New Fans, Less So For The Hardcore Sonic Crowd
@samuelvictor there’s so much of it! I’d like to say I won’t pick any more of the DLC as:
1) I don’t care for the characters and
2) paying for single characters would mean I support such a shady practise (again - I’m a hypocrite for what I said above)
But truth be told, I don’t know how much willpower I have in the long run; I think I’ve grabbed all the DLC for all the Switch games I own up to this point and it’s almost become a habit.
Re: Review: Sonic Origins - A Fine Collection For New Fans, Less So For The Hardcore Sonic Crowd
Grabbed them a few at a time, and (think) I've got them all now despite knowing that ultimately they’re a waste of money from my perspective as I doubt I’ll use most of them…
In my defence, I had some gold coins saved up to use towards the DLC - grabbed most of the bigger DLC for games like BoTW, Splatoon 2, MK8D etc from sites like ShopTo as the prices are often quite a bit cheaper, and had nothing to use the coins on…
Re: Mario Kart Tour Heads To Bangkok In The Latest Major Update
Re: Review: Sonic Origins - A Fine Collection For New Fans, Less So For The Hardcore Sonic Crowd
Shame on me…
