Nintendo doesn't have much (or any) history of releasing collector's editions in addition to the standard version. I would bet that this is the only one released.
@LittleIrves: Don't worry, the gameplay of Majora's Mask definitely holds up well, even by today's standards. As long as you are looking for something different from the Zelda "norm", I doubt you will be disappointed.
I think the "time limit" stigma that Majora's Mask received has been blown way out of proportion. Its really not that big of a deal. This game is just as great as Ocarina of Time, in my opinion.
Here's hoping the U.S. gets treated to this gem on Monday. After Majora's Mask is released, I promise never to complain about the Virtual Console again...
Although I had a feeling Nintendo would release a big first-party game, I wouldn't call this week a failure. Personally, I just got my Wii hooked up after a long semester sitting in a closet, so there are lots of games I still need to download.
I'm surprised how little time I have for videogames anymore now that I am in college. My Wii is back home in a closet somewhere, and my PS2 is only used here in the dorms for DVD's. Growing up sucks...
@BJ: Personally, I would throw Twilight Princess out of the discussion. It just tried too hard to be the OoT of this generation, and doing so, it failed to show any personality of it's own.
Ocarina of Time vs. Majora's Mask is a very tough question. Ocarina of Time has always been my choice for favorite Zelda (or game, period). Recently, however, I have found that I like MM just as much as OoT. If only MM had a couple of more dungeons, it would definitely be better than OoT.
@sparrow-1993: I find the 3-D Zeldas to be MUCH easier than the 2-D ones. The lack of difficulty is the biggest complaint I have with any game in the series post-1998.
I'm happy for you guys and gals. Not only will Super Mario RPG satisfy a lot of people, Nintendo also did the right thing and made The Lost Levels available again. Great week.
@Bass: For me, it depends on the series. I regret downloading the Genesis Sonics because I already have Sonic Mega Collection for the GCN. That may be because I'm not a huge Sonic fan.
On the other hand, despite having all of the Zelda games in their original cartridge format, I LOVE having my Zelda games as Wii Channels. I suppose that is because I'm a huge Zelda nerd, though...
Stuffgamer1: I'm not sure if Nintendo elaborated on the N64 expansion pack situation, but I do know many people have speculated that games requiring the accessory may have some trouble being emulated to the VC. I sure hope this isn't the case, because Majora's Mask should not be missed by anyone.
I also had that Versus Books Perfect Guide. It really came in handy for all of those hard-to-get Heart Pieces. It was SO much better than the Nintendo-brand guide.
@Cally: Oddly enough, the schedule of events was one of the things I appreciated most about Majora's Mask. I love just walking around Clock Town waiting for the Milk Bar to open, or arriving just in time for the postman to deliver mail to the Stock Pot Inn. Clock Town just feels so much more alive than any other town in a Zelda game. Nearly every character has a backstory that you learn through a sidequest. No other Zelda game comes close when it comes to the number of these optional quests.
The only fault I have with the game is that it contains a measly four main dungeons. That's way too short for Zelda standards. Oh yeah, and the Great Bay Temple blows.
I will slap anyone who says an unkind word about Majora's Mask. It's just as good a game as Ocarina of Time, maybe even moreso. It's a shame that so many people dismissed the game because of the "time limit". Like Adamant said, play the Inverted Song of Time and you really don't have to worry about time.
And technically, Zelda is in the game, albeit as one of Link's memories.
@Rockman 90: Majora's Mask is indeed a sequel to Ocarina of Time. I think the game takes place a few months or so after OoT. Most other games in the Zelda franchise aren't considered sequels because they each feature a different Link.
My Virtual Console wishlist begins and ends with Majora's Mask. If released, I would use the Wii Gift feature of the Shop and personally send the game to everyone here on this site, just so they could experience how outstanding it is.
I knew it had to be true. There were too many optimistic posts on this site in the last few days. Something had to go awry.
As much as I don't want to say it, I can't trust any pre-release news stories from this site anymore since it's all up in the air. I'll believe a release when I see it on Monday.
To be fair, it's not very often that everyone's full expectations of a game are met. There will always be people disappointed by a game. It's all a matter of perspective. In my opinion, Brawl and Mario Kart Wii did meet expectations.
As odd as it sounds, I've never tried any other control method aside from the Wii Wheel. The game keeps a stat of what percentage you use the Wheel, and a wanted it to keep it at 100%.
I was very skeptical of the Wii Wheel with Mario Kart from the beginning. It looked like a big gimmick. Upon playing, the game, however, I was really pleased. I don't think it plays as bad as people make it seem.
@FalcoLombardi: Yeah, I remember hearing about the cannon glitch in Twilight Princess. I was so worried when I got to that part that I refused to save until I got to the City in the Sky.
Oh yeah, and Oracle of Season/Ages are just as great as Link's Awakening. They were both pretty tough as far as Zelda games go.
@Bass X0: My experience with A Link to the Past was different from most die-hard Zelda fans. I never had an SNES until well after I got my N64. Link's Awakening and OoT were groundbreaking to me. I bought A Link to the Past well after those games, so the game didn't blow me away. Sure it's a great game, but I don't have the same nostalgia for LttP that I do for the others.
@Cally: Link's Awakening is SO great. By far the most complex original Gameboy game. It's a blast to play, and I'd say it's even better than A Link to the Past.
@PHANTOM93: My brother had an OoT file long ago that he was stuck on (in Water Temple) and wanted me to get him out of it. Upon playing it, I couldn't find any way to fix it, so I ended up erasing his whole file. Boy was he mad.

Re: Box Art: Metroid Prime Trilogy
I've never seen anything so beautiful...
Re: Golden Sun Coming to DS
THANK YOU NINTENDO!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Super Mario Galaxy 2 E3 Trailer
Thank god. The original Galaxy was the most fun I've had with a game in quite some time.
Re: Metroid: Other M E3 Trailer
I'm still on the fence about the art-style... I guess I'm just used to the gritty look from the Prime trilogy.
Re: Nintendo Download: Masks, Crystals, Chess and Art (US)
@Stuffgamer1: haha, my bad
Re: Nintendo Download: Masks, Crystals, Chess and Art (US)
@Knoxximus: Apparently this version doesn't crash or have as many sound glitches as the GC disc does.
@Mpbanksta: I haven't downloaded a VC game in ages, but I thought the Shop is updated every Monday at 9am Pacific time.
Re: Nintendo Download: Masks, Crystals, Chess and Art (US)
I generally don't care for puzzle games, but I really like Aquia.

@J.K: You lost me after the first sentence.

I promise that I will never complain about the VC again.

Re: USA VC Releases: Secret of Mana and Street Fighter II Genesis
Some much for the drought of AAA VC releases... We really have been treated to some great games lately.
Re: USA VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Clu Clu Land
I'm surprised how little time I have for videogames anymore now that I am in college. My Wii is back home in a closet somewhere, and my PS2 is only used here in the dorms for DVD's. Growing up sucks...
Re: USA VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Clu Clu Land
Not a great week for me to leave my Wii back at home. Curse you college...
Re: USA VC Releases: Ys Book I & II and Samurai Shodown II
So getting back to videogames, does anyone know how many hours a typical playthrough of Ys will take?
Re: USA VC Releases: Ys Book I & II and Samurai Shodown II
@Mickeymac: "It's not a turn-based RPG, it's zelda without the sword."
That's all the incentive I need.

Madden lost it's appeal to me a long time ago.
Re: USA VC Releases: Ys Book I & II and Samurai Shodown II
Good week.
Re: EU VC Releases: Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels
@Rapadash6: Sooner than September?
(Looks at calendar)
Is that possible?

Re: USA VC Releases: Mega Man and Neo Turf Masters
@The Joker: Nice reference.
Re: Review: Midnight Pool (WiiWare)
Wow, this game has me sold. I love pool, and I certainly did not see this game getting this good of a review. I think I'll get it tomorrow.
Re: USA VC Releases: Mega Man and Neo Turf Masters
I'll get Mega Man once I have 500 spare points. Never played a Mega Man game before, though, so I'm not sure what to expect.
Re: USA VC Releases: Mega Man and Neo Turf Masters
@Tony: Were the NES Zelda and Mario only available through the Animal Crossing E-Reader cards? I only had the lame ones like Tennis and Baseball.

Re: Goldeneye Locked In Legal Limbo
I still have my Goldeneye cart, but it's hard to play it because both the control sticks on both my controllers are worn out.
Re: Publishers Remain Tight-Lipped On Black Monday Debacle
In my humble opinion, it was not a case of Nintendo being inept, but rather them punishing the third-parties for their pre-release confirmations.
Re: Goldeneye Locked In Legal Limbo
Despite how fantastic it is, I gave up hope for a Goldeneye VC release long ago. It's a shame, really.
