Re: US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2

Andrew

What I'm missing is enough space. If only there was a way to run games from an SD card, then I wouldn't have to delete half of my games from the Wii Menu to play one single Wii-Ware title.

Also, I think the Wii-Ware library is pretty lacking. Besides a few standouts, there are too many games that look like they were cut from Wii Play. But that's a whole different conversation.

@firebrand: I don't think that any of us (North America, Europe, or Japan) have it any better than the rest. Despite a handful of select titles, the majority of the games released first in a particular region become available to everyone at some point.

I was just saying that I don't begrudge Europe or Japan if they happen to get first "dibs" on a great release. I hope that the majority of those in Europe and Japan would feel the same way if we get the same privilege. These discussions don't need to be turned into a regional competition.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of generalization from either side of the pond. You have to expect that there will always be some people dissatisfied with a release, but that does not represent the people as a whole. Personally, when Europe gets a great update, I really feel happy for them, not resentful. I don't see why everything has to turn into a debate on which nation is more "spoiled".

Re: US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2

Andrew

@Demon212: C'mon, I think that's taking it a little far. There are some stubborn people here that will scoff at anything that's not Mario RPG, but that doesn't truthfully represent all the rest of us.

You've really been through six 360's? You, my friend, are cursed!

Re: US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2

@will: Ha ha ha ha ha!!! That Xbox 360 joke was hilarious and in no way forced!
(end sarcasm)

Seriously though, I don't have any problem with the Xbox 360. I think it's a great system, so you won't get any fanboy rants from this guy.

Re: US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2

I'm not trying to speak for anyone else, but I don't see what's wrong with wanting first party Nintendo games on the Virtual Console. As a matter of fact, that's one of the main reasons I bought a Wii. When the VC was first announced, I imagined having a system that could house all of my Zelda's, Mario's, and Metroid's, not Silent Debuggers for the Turbografx. However, I don't care for the perception that us Americans scoff at anything that is third party; on the contrary, I welcome a third party addition, assuming it is a quality title. But I do feel that Nintendo has been too stingy with their own releases as of late. I don't know about anyone else, but the last Nintendo-released VC title I was excited for was Super Mario Bros. 3. It was released last November. As in 8 MONTHS ago.

Majora's Mask on Collector's Edition may not be as blurry as the N64 original, but the framerate does drop, especially in Clock Town. All issues aside, it was a nice inclusion to the Collector's Edition, but I just really want it on VC. I want it mainly because it's the last available console Zelda not on the service (excluding CD-i).

Re: US VC Release - 30th June - Fatal Fury 2

Andrew

Rexy is right about Majora's Mask on the Collector's Edition. I played the game on N64 for years, and the Gamecube's emulation butchered it. The sound isn't up to par, and the their is slowdown that wasn't in the original N64 cart.

Re: Japanese Virtual Console list - July 2008

Andrew

Would it kill Nintendo to release an N64 game once in a blue moon? Four games for the Turbografx?!!? I really couldn't care less about the TurboGrafx anymore. I gave their games many chances, and I didn't care for any of them.

Majora's Mask..............PLEASE!!!

Re: US VC Releases - 23rd June - Alex Kidd in Miracle World

Andrew

I don't blame you for getting bored with the NES installments. You kind of have to be nostalgic to appreciate them (especially Adventure of Link). I always found Link to the Past to be overrated, but that's just me. OoT, however, never gets old to me. I've beaten it about two dozen times. I also love Wind Waker; the sailing didn't bother me like it did to most people. Twilight Princess was a letdown because it was way over-hyped as the "OoT killer". The developers tried so hard to copy OoT, they didn't give the game an identity of its own.

Re: US VC Releases - 23rd June - Alex Kidd in Miracle World

Andrew

@Eltigro: Majora's Mask has SO much to offer, I think it is right up there with OoT in terms of quality. Its only downside is that it is way too short...

You haven't completed any of them?!!? Wow. Did you just lose interest or did you find them too difficult?

Re: US VC Releases - 23rd June - Alex Kidd in Miracle World

Andrew

@Eltigro: Yeah, I have Zelda: Collector's Edition (which is great btw), but the version of Majora's Mask on the disc suffers from some graphical and sound problems which aren't on the original game cart. Plus, I like having all my Zeldas in downloadable form on the Wii.

Re: US VC Releases - 23rd June - Alex Kidd in Miracle World

Andrew

To hell with all this, give me Majora's Mask!

Also, I don't know why people are expecting Mario All-Stars any time soon. Nintendo's not going to release it for 800 Wii points considering NES Mario games continuously rank among the best-selling games on the VC individually.

Re: Super Mario Bros. 3

Andrew

sha- The game itself, like the NES version, doesn't itself have a save feature. The VC's suspend feature does the job, however.

Re: Super Mario Bros. 3

Andrew

Thanks Hans. Glad to hear there may be a fix in the future. I suppose i can also call Nintendo and hassle them about it.
