As great as the beginning was with young Link, the game really delivers once you get the Master Sword. The dungeon design is superb, and the story is among Zelda's best.
As weird as it may seem, I have never played a Mega Man game in my life.
@el cabarto: To call my love of Ocarina of Time a 'religous experience' is an understatement. I've completed the game nearly twenty times, and I don't see myself ever growing tired of it. I know it's sad, but it's true.
I personally never found the Water Temple to be as tough as people say it is. It's just that you can get stuck completely if you use a key at the wrong time. If I can give any advice, I'd say that you should ONLY use keys when you absolutely need to. Explore every room that doesn't require a key first.
I haven't got around to buying a new Wii game for a while since I've been spending a lot of time reintroducing myself to Advance Wars, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite game series.
There will surely be complainers next week, as there will be every week. Though it isn't right, some people complain hear simply to start conflict. It is best to look past those people and don't respond, not stoop to their level with personal attacks.
Regarding the Wii's release schedule for the remainder of the year, I kinda agree with firebrand. I'm not enthused about the majority of the system's upcoming titles, so instead I am going to catch up on a few Wii games that I have missed. (Oh yeah, and play LOTS and LOTS of Advance Wars).
I'm jealous that you guys got Neo Turf Masters. I'm a sucker for golf sims, so I hope that it comes stateside sometime. Does anyone know how many blocks it takes up on the Wii memory?
Up until a couple of months ago, Super Mario Kart was the only game in the series I had yet to own. Upon playing it, I was a little let down. It's still a great game, but it didn't live up (in my opinion) to the hype that I had heard about it for all these years. I still believe that Mario Kart DS is the best game in the series.
Also, Road Rash is fantastic. My vote would have gone to Road Rash II, as I found it better than the original. I would LOVE for that game to be released.
@firebrand: I'm totally with you there. There is no way I would ever buy Wii Music. There are a few Wii games still on my wishlist: Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Medal of Honor: Heroes 2, and maybe Excitetruck.
I've always been a big defender of the Gamecube. Though it's third-party support was very lacking, the majority of the games were high quality titles. The Wii seems to be having the opposite fate. There are lots of third-party titles, but the majority of them are shovelware with gimmicky controls. I find it ironic that while Nintendo stresses gameplay over great graphics, many of their third-parties lack both.
I absolutely loathed the Subspace Emissary. I thought it was way too repetitive. And although the cutscenes were pretty, the "plot" behind them was very weak.
Although I did enjoy the original Animal Crossing when it came out, Rexy is absolutely right. The game makes you feel guilty for missing a day, and if you don't play it for a week, you end up spending the next day or two picking up weeds.
As bad as the Wii lineup was, the DS offerings were just as lacking.
@Terranigma: I completely agree. My problem with Super Mario Sunshine is that there isn't enough variety in the different worlds. They all have the same "tropical" theme, whereas Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy have SO many different themes.
@PHANTOM93: No, i didn't see any mention of it at the conference. I've seen pics, though. Man, that thing looks just like a lightsaber.
That link that Terranigma posted regarding a new Wii accessory isn't just a rumor. It has been confirmed by Nintendo. Its called MotionPlus, and it is supposed to allow more accurate motion response than the standard Wiimote.
Well, I'm reading the IGN live blog covering the Microsoft E3 conference right now, and it looks like they completely copied Nintendo. The Xbox 360 is getting their own mii avatars! And oddly enough, the Mii ripoffs are being created by Rare.
@classicmike: In years prior, E3 was always held at The Los Angeles Convention Center in California. Recently, E3's size has dropped off greatly into a much smaller event, so I'm not exactly sure if its still in the same arena. I'm pretty sure it still is held in Los Angeles, though.
This week is honestly better than I expected, considering E3 tomorrow. Though I never cared for Donkey Kong 3, its nice that the NES trilogy is finally all on the VC.
@PHANTOM93: Yeah, I think the chances of a Kid Icarus for Wii are really good. F-Zero also seems like a definite possibility. I have this idea in the back of my mind that we may see a Wii Zelda trailer. (fingers crossed)
@x.SuperMario.x: I would definitely put the original Paper Mario in my top 5 games of all-time. It's just so freaking addicting!
E3 Predictions: Here's hoping Nintendo will allow VC games to be played from an SD card. I've heard that Pikmin 3 and Animal Crossing Wii will be shown. I also have a suspicion (or hope) that Nintendo will announce the often-rumored Metroid Dread for the DS.
@Mr. Cheez: No matter what releases we get tomorrow, I vow to stay positive because Nintendo's E3 conference is on Tuesday. I am hoping for some big news not only regarding Wii games, but hopefully some VC-related info. I don't expect Nintendo to release a big game one day before their E3 event, but then again, who really knows?
@x.SuperMario.x: Get on that, buddy! I absolutely loved Paper Mario when it came out for N64, and I almost had a heart attack when it was released on the VC. Though it's sequel was much, much funnier, I preferred the original because it had more of a Mario "feel" to it. And unlike most RPG fans, I liked that it was a very easy game to complete. (Mainly because I have a hard time committing to a difficult RPG)
I'm trying to find alternatives to the VC recently, so I recently bought Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz for $10, and I went to a retro game store and picked up Pilotwings for the SNES. Both games are pretty good.
Regardless of what games are qualified as "fighters", the fact remains that there are genres that aren't being represented, while others have more than their share of offerings. It would be nice if Nintendo could find a balance.

Re: USA VC Update: Chase HQ and Art of Fighting 2
I think it would be nice if both of you would end your insignificant little 'feud' and start to act like adults.
Re: USA VC Update: Chase HQ and Art of Fighting 2
Easy there, SuperMario. There's no need whatsoever to call him dumb. It comes off as petty, and it undermines your credibility.

I think golf is great. I don't see how it's any more monotonous than any other sport.

Re: USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer
@will: If you are so glad that you sold off your Wii, then why do still feel the need to post on a Nintendo-related site?
Re: USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer
Yeah, I don't think we will ever see Perfect Dark on the VC. (or Goldeneye, for that matter...)
Re: USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer
As far as Wii Music is concerned, I will wait for the real music game: Elite Beat Agents 2!!!

I would like to see Nintendo start to focus on the SNES and N64 sometime, though.
Re: USA VC Update: Super Fantasy Zone and Gley Lancer
Looks like a pretty good week. It's always nice to see a different system get some games. Though I'm not interested in these, I'm sure many are.
Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
Topics have a way of changing quickly here.
Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
Yeah, I think the Great Maze was one of the main reasons that mode aggravated me so much. It took forever.

It was pretty cool fighting Meta Ridley, though.

Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
You know a conference is lame when Nintendo's lone "hardcore" game was Animal Crossing...
Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
Well, there were 2 high points in the conference:
Other than that, I felt the conference was a letdown.
Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
Galaxy was terrific.
Nintendo's E3 conference starts in about 5 minutes. Fingers crossed for big news!

Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
@Mr. Cheez: Yep, FFXIII will be on 360 also. The PS3's list of AAA exclusives is growing thin.
The Square Enix announcement was the only event that saved Microsoft's conference from being completely lackluster, imo.

@Alfred E. Newman: Right on, bro. Jackal was one of my favorite games when I was young, and if available, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Re: US VC Releases - 14th July - Donkey Kong 3
Wow, the conference ended with Square Enix saying that Final Fantasy XIII is no longer PS3-exclusive. Ouch!

The save feature on my Super Mario All-Stars/ Super Mario World SNES cart just crapped out. I lost everything. I need a shoulder to cry on...
