Development cost has gone up, but so has revenue. The industry is in a very different position than 30 years ago. Gaming has become a bigger industry than both music and film combined.
And to top it up, most big publishers who are pushing the price increase, are the ones who will not cease with microtransactions in games, and have exhorbitant upper management salaries and investors who push for perpetual growth, which is by all means impossible.
@Ambassador_Kong the first ending of Super Mario Odyssey is really easy and aimed at casual players, while the true ending is hard as nails, as is getting all of the last kingdom moons.
@carlos82 I mean, the Destructoid review was also an 8, as it also was the Deadly Premonition 2 review, but both reviews in general were more positive than this one (and the reviewer loved the first Deadly Premonition, so it was a little biased).
But what I mean is that in that site the correlation between text and score is stronger than here.
@Octane Well, the domain begins with an n, and match the character numbers of @nintendo.co.jp. This is pure speculation, but if someone outside Nintendo did this, they took the time to look like it was from Nintendo.
@NotoriousWhiz Yeah, I have a Pro Controller and an SN30Pro. I mostly use the Pro Controller for 3D games, and the 8bitdo when playing 2D games and games which require more precise DPad inputs.
@WoomyNNYes 8bitdo offers great controllers packed with features and great quality overall. They have several retro models, like NES, SNES, Genesis and even an arcade stick.
I own the SN30 Pro, which is the SNES version with dual analog sticks, bumpers and triggers, rumble, gyro and full compatibility with Switch / PC / Android / MacOS. It works great.
It's not a translation problem, as the original spanish article also stated that the voice work was probably completed by listenting to the interview.
The voice actors talked about not remembering if they did or not worked on the second game while chuckling and laughing about it.
Even if they did not confirm nor deny anything, context is everything, so people implied from that interview that they had indeed already finished with the voice work.
@BlueOcean I'm a native spanish speaker, and from the transcript alone it seems like they are done with the voice work but aren't allowed to either confirm nor deny doing it, or at least that's what I understood.
@Damo It doesn't seem as a mistranslation, because the original article in spanish also stated that the voice work was completed. It seems more of some missing context when hearing the interview from the original article writer than a translation issue.
FOMO is a powerful tool on games like (but not restricted to) FIFA Ultimate Team or NBA 2KXX. It's a shady tactic made to increase impulse buying, and it's a sh*tt* thing to do on games aimed at kids.

Re: N64 Prototypes And Source Code Reportedly Leaked - Super Mario 64, Zelda: Ocarina Of Time And More
@NoLife Maybe there's nothing coming for the 35th anniversary so that's why Nintendo hasn't announced anything.
Re: PES On Nintendo Switch Is "Getting Closer", Says Series Brand Manager
FIFA really took the crown with FUT, which is a neat concept, except that by adding pay-to-win mechanics it absolutely brakes the game.
I mean, I had fun with FUT in FIFA 14 and 15, even got to D2 with no in-game purchases, but it had several bull**** moments.
Re: PES On Nintendo Switch Is "Getting Closer", Says Series Brand Manager
I've played modded PES 5 with updated kits and rosters on PC for years. That game was peak.
Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?
@Slowdive Can't recommend that video enough, or almost anything by Sterling.

Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure
@ShinEon Most of the times I read a NL review of a first party game, I feel like the score is one point above of what the review text says.
Re: Review: Paper Mario: The Origami King - A Puzzling Battle System Can't Kill This Funny Adventure
@SMBSS Alphadream (devs of Mario & Luigi games) went bankrupt last October. So I'm afraid it will be a long sleep for you.

Re: This Officially-Licensed Switch Controller Comes With Motion Controls And Mappable Buttons
@TG16_IS_BAE I don't turn it off. I actually like having rumble.

Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly Release A $250 LEGO NES Console Next Month
@MrBlacky @HarryHyruleHero I get that, I was a LEGO fan in my childhood.
The Mario kits look really fun, but I just don't see the fun in building a LEGO NES, It's just a big gray box.
Re: Nintendo Will Reportedly Release A $250 LEGO NES Console Next Month
So, they are selling a replica of a retro console, that doesn't work, for more price than a current gen console.
I mean, at least the Atari VCS kinda works.

@inenai good translation! I couldn't hear the interview, but from the transcript they all but confirmed they were done with the voice overs.
Re: Random: 8BitDo's Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller Sure Looks Familiar
@Jokerwolf I hope you are right. We'll see...
Re: Random: 8BitDo's Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller Sure Looks Familiar
@Jokerwolf Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have a Switch / PC controller with analog triggers (even if they work as digital in the Switch).
But if the official page states that it only works with Android, I'll have to wait and see some hands on review before changing my mind.

Re: Random: 8BitDo's Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller Sure Looks Familiar
@Jokerwolf The official 8bitdo site lists only Android as a compatible platform.
For reference: https://www.8bitdo.com/sn30-pro-for-xbox-cloud-gaming-on-android/
Re: Random: 8BitDo's Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller Sure Looks Familiar
The good? It has analogue triggers.
The bad? It's only compatible with Android.

Re: Loot Boxes Are The Same As Gambling, Says The UK's House Of Lords
@nhSnork
Lootboxes on games aimed at children is the problem. Gambling should be allowed only for adults.
