ATMs. How do they work? It's like a big computer that eats your money and sometimes coughs it back up. No one knows where they came from, or what they want. They are a mystery.

Luckily, the ABD — that stands for Automatic Bell Dispenser — is Animal Crossing: New Horizons' equivalent, and it's much less mysterious. In fact, we can tell you how it works!

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - How to get your own personal ATM / ABD (Automatic Bell Dispenser)

If you've visited Resident Services, you'll probably be familiar with the ABD that's part of the Nook Stop terminal — a cash machine where you can withdraw and deposit Bells.

To get your hands on an ABD that you can place wherever you want on the island, or simply carry with you at all times, you'll need to use the Nook Stop terminal to redeem Nook Miles (9,900 of them in this case) in exchange for your own ABD.

Note: It's not clear exactly when the ABD becomes available for redemption at the Nook Stop terminal — we'll update this guide when we find out more.

Once you've exchanged your Nook Miles, you'll receive the ABD the next day in the mail. You're then free to place it wherever you wish on your island — right outside your house, if you like — or even pick it up and take it with you. Handy!
