Small update for you guys: on Tuesday, I played in my first tournament: a small weekly called Prism Break. It was uncapped in terms of division, and there were only 19 teams that registered in total. I played with three mid-level players, and we were seeded in 14th place. We crushed round 1 (a brand new team) 2-0, and then immediately got crushed ourselves when we went 0-2 in round 2 (by an experienced mid-level team). Finally, we went to losers bracket and again went 0-2 against an experienced team, thus ending our tournament run. In the end, we got 13th place, which isn’t horrible.
And the best part? I’ve been recruited as a substitute for a team participating in Mug Cup (a low level tournament), which means that as of tomorrow I get another result and valuable experiences. It’s exciting!

@CaleBoi25 unfortunately no, the sets were not streamed. Well, there were sets streamed, just not any I was in. @Potato-man Good luck on your rank up battle! It's interesting that you actively want to get to S before the end-of-season reset, since I see it as not being worth pushing for it until next season because I would have to do rank up again. I made it to A+ once, so I know I'll be able to climb back from A- in a reasonable amount of time. To be honest, I wouldn't be shocked if I reached high S and/or low S+ by the end of next season.
It was An Event. I'll just get straight to the point: we went 0-3 in all three sets during the group stage, and went 0-2 in the first round of single elimination. To be clear, it was really tough mentally to lose 11 straight matches, but there were a few reasons for it, and also consolation in the end.
The biggest reason we lost was because we, as a pickup, hadn't played together in a quad, aside from an hour of anarchy prior to the start time. The three other pickup members had all played together with at least one of the others before, and I had played together with one of the others a few nights prior, but there was no practice with all four of us at once in the same lobby.
The other reason we lost was because the tournament was not seeded properly. There were a number of players, if not a number of teams, that should have been banned based on prior results alone, but that was not the case, so the skill cap effectively ended up being non-existent.
The vindication with this tournament, though, is that we were tied for last with five other teams. Plus, my pickup mates have really, really good mental, and a resiliency/resolve that I can only admire at this point in time. In the end, I gained experience, made new friends, had a good time, and even got a cool clip of dodging specials out of it. Now onto Setting Sail on December 21st!
P.S. a team which one of my friends is the captain for was also playing, and he explained last night that his team had the same thing happen to them, other than sweeping their first set and having a bye in round 1 of the bracket. It's one of the coolest things to begin seeing familiar faces or names you've heard of before, and it'll only happen more from this point forward.
@AccessibleDaydream I was A rank couple days ago and didn't want to drop to B+ and I got to A+ and didn't want to drop to A-. I've also been on a Clam Blitz high and trying to play any chance I have.
I felt like now is the time to try cause I got nothing to lose lol and..I want that S badge

And as for losing, it’s no big deal. We walked away with more experience than before, and we may very well do more pickups together as a quad in the future.

@CaleBoi25@AccessibleDaydream Thanks!!! I made it to S rank with 3-1. I played Splat Zones with a Carbon Deco, although Zones isn't my favorite I liked the rotation.
My highest rank in Splatoon 2 was S+ in Rainmaker so hopefully I can get at least S+ in next season.

@CaleBoi25 Does S rank feel harder then A rank, I know it's a silly question but just curious?? A rank was kinda easy sometimes and hard sometimes. Curious before I enter a Series.

Unrelated side note: I took some screen shots of words written with splatoon ink: Yes!, No!, and maybe a couple bad words to be silly. Due to the ink thickness, only short words fit on a wall. It's hard to have more than 4 or 5 letters.😁 (In case anyone wonders, I used a splattershot pro to write the words)
