@Tyranexx - I must have been typing when you replied last night. Yeah, thanks for the well wishes. I guess I’ll find out at some point in the future how badly I’ve messed them up by locking them in the house with me for a year. Hopefully their teachers can get them ironed out next year.
I juuust missed the heyday of elementary school edutainment. It was kind of a big deal when my school got a single compuper. We had to sign up for time slots to use it in the library, but I did get plenty of Oregon Trail sessions in as well as watching over my friend’s shoulders while they played and criticizing their every move.
@TheJGG - Sorry to hear about the tumble today. Dodge ball is sneaky dangerous. One time I got hit just right in the eye and tore my iris. Had to lay on my back for a week and do nothing but listen to books on tape and plot my revenge.
@NintendoByNature - JCVD vs Ghosts n Goblins, who ya got? Perhaps this game will make even this man cry?
@ogo79 - Yep, we’re the same age, and I went through the same thing. Just got tired of a lot of the stuff I had been accumulating and started purging. I’m still working on it. I have nowhere near a fraction of the gaming collection you had, and I haven’t gotten rid of any of mine; but I don’t miss any of the other stuff. It feels good to move on from some of it.
@ThanosReXXX - I’m thinking we’ll be into string theory soon enough, I don’t want to overwhelm their little minds. My brother and I used to think that those red skeletons in Golden Axe were freshly skinned and sort of stained red/pink. They just didn’t have the chance to get a nice warm shower, soak their bones a bit, and get all gleaming white before battle.
Finally got Resident Evil Deadly Silence from my eBay bidding! If I am not mistaken this is the ONLY Resident Evil 1 game that is portable physical release I only played the remake on PS4 so now I want to complete the one that started it all!
Also wanted to get Little Nightmares for some time but it was always out of stock

As far as the Golden Axe skeletons are concerned: actually a pretty good explanation for the red ones, but what about the blue ones, then? Royals?

@Zuljaras DS is quite easily the best way to play the original Resident Evil, I love it.
In that one, you can skip door animations and cutscenes, have the quick turn feature from later games in the series (instant 180° turning by pressing ⬇️+Run), and quick permanent access to the knife like in Resident Evil 4.
There's also two fairly different modes, original and rebirth. Rebirth remixes a few item/enemy locations, and adds unique puzzles and mini games that use the DS's touch screen and microphone.
Talking about torn irises, I had a little scare last night.
My brother is currently visiting, that includes his family. So the bookshelf above my bed is a mess because my niece keeps rearranging things.
Anyhow. In the middle of the night, I woke up for some random reason, not fully, I was in that half sleep mode, but I could hear something shifting above me, so with my eyes still almost completely closed, I turned to face up and then felt something fall smack dab right into my right eye.
After assessing I could still, in fact, see, and after a little whimpering session, I went back to sleep.
I think it was my kindle or a AA battery (probably the battery, based on how it felt). Those are the only things I found by me. I'm just glad I didn't have my eyes completely open because that would've sucked.
@Eel Yes! And may I add one more awesome thing to your list The map is visible all the time on the top screen! No more going to the pause menu to check it
@Zuljaras ah yes that too! Though I do wish the screens were switched, but I guess that's how nintendo wanted devs to make their DS games, with the action in the touch screen.
You might be able to switch screens ..... Depends how much it uses the touch screen. I got put off some DS games that used that too much, since it only worked with the stylus
Yeah, I'm sure some games did let you do that, though, @Eel .... Well, I liked that game enough to work with it's daft seal system, @Zuljaras but I mostly tried to avoid games that said too much about touchscreen this, use the stylus for that

Yep that is why we got Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow with the forced seal drawing system.
@Zuljaras That was the worst! After barely beating a difficult boss you have to draw some squiggle on the screen within a few seconds or the boss regains some health.

Well, 'squiggle' is a bit misleading .... It was symbols, using straight lines to connect dots in a pattern! Which started out very simple but did get quite complicated & although it showed you very quickly, you'd have wanted to practice a bit before the boss fight, keeping the stylus handy for that part
@BruceCM the game may have asked for straight lines, but I definitely gave it squiggles 😂
@Zuljaras Definately. I went through a big Castlevania kick awhile back and played as much of the series as I could. The 3 GBA games, the 3 DS games, IV and Bloodlines, the NES games (although I had to use save states for those). I'd say the DS trio might be my favorites....although I've never actually played Symphony of the Night.
