Does anyone else find it hilarious that Pokemon is the most hated video game series in existence?
I mean it's just sad. Even otherwise really rational people go absolutely batstuff when Pokemon is mentioned.
"I believe we should further delibrate the new f"
"POKEMON!"
"..rrrrrrRRRRAWWWWWWWRRRRR HULLLLK SMAAAASHHHH!!!!"
@NEStalgia I don't know if you are sarcastic but I always saw and believed that Pokémon is actually one of the most positive and loved franchises in gaming.
Only the last ones are disliked just a little and not by many people. And this is just about the smaller Pokedex and the not so impressive graphics.
@bimmy-lee Well, contrary to what you might think, seeing as I'm a sales & marketing myself, I'm not really a stickler for in your face branding, which is what this definitely is.
If I'd buy it (I won't, because it's too expensive and offers too few games for that price, even though in all honesty, the cost is probably mostly due to the high end controls), then I'd probably take it apart completely, and build it into an actual black and wood-veneer tabletop cabinet. I also don't like that the buttons aren't colored like you would expect in the arcade (white player selection buttons, and red, green, blue and black or yellow action buttons), because them being painted over by the logo makes them all but invisible.
So, in short, yes ridiculous indeed, which for me makes it a definite no. I'd rather spend that amount of cash on something more worthy of my money.
@NEStalgia Pffff... don't get me started. The Pokémon review bombing article is the second time in these last couple of weeks that I've seriously regretted reading the comments from. It is seriously depressing that people can get so invested in, and angry about a friggin' video game. I want to beat the crap out of all of them. If a game already makes them THAT angry, they should try to walk a mile in my shoes, what with everything I had to put up with in real life, over the last three years. That would probably turn them into blubbering pools of organic goo...
@Zuljaras Well, if it would only have been these two things, which are already incredibly whiny, then it would still be relatively digestible, but there's SO much negativity and sometimes even downright hatred towards the game and its developers, that it genuinely infuriates me and makes me sick to my stomach. I hate how useless and short-sighted people seem to be becoming, and the rate at which it's happening, is ever faster, so apparently, we're on a VERY slippery slope.
And in that review-bombing article, one of the first comments gets 87 likes (also 5+ dislikes, but still), and all I can think is "well, now I know there's at least 87 idiots and/or Negative Nancy's lurking around here", and I positively HATE that such p***-ant comments get so many likes. Negativity ONLY breeds more negativity, there's nothing constructive about it, regardless of the faux reasons that SO many of them give.
I'm willing to wager a bet that 99.9% of them have NEVER even programmed anything in their lives, not even the simplest of things, and yet somehow they seem to possess the knowledge and the vision to "know" what it is that was done, or not done, in the game, and how it was made. It would be funny, something to laugh at VERY loudly, if it wasn't so infinitely sad at the same time...
In the entire truckload of whiny, cry baby comments, there were only a few truly constructive criticisms, and a small handful of smart and positive, or at least realistic people, but these were of course completely drowned out by all the negative idiots, who not only criticized the game, but also NLife and other, more positive sites, with their ridiculous accusations of double standards and/or ulterior motives for liking the game.
But hey, that's the internet for 'ya, and it ain't getting any prettier, apparently. This site used to be SO much more relaxed a couple of years ago, like an oasis in a sea of online aggression and idiocy, but it would seem that this particular oil stain has now sadly also spread into these waters...
On a side note: another low is the article about how Pokémon Sword/Shield data could possibly corrupt your SD card data. It seems that no one can win. A site can't be too positive, but once they actually ARE critical of something, these walking tumors will find something else to slam them with.
Yes, that was harsh, but far as I'm concerned, MORE than deserved, because I'm SO done with individuals like that. Back when I was their age, I'd simply just not buy the game, instead of spending all my time complaining about how bad that game was (and probably still buy it regardless, because... well, you know, they're still "fans" of the series... ).
Despite who was in the right or who was in the wrong, that won't change the outcome that my swell little buddy Ducklett got Thanos snapped
All he ever did was trip over his webbed feet (If my feet are webbed, does that mean spider Pokemon live there?), demanded fast food places to serve a buffet of peat moss (but it's just gotttttta be on the menu!), and use his trainer's head as a nest (This is my mobile home, I should invite my friends to my mobile home for a house party!). It was the little things in life that he held so dear to him, and somehow, that made him friends who cherished his presence, even if they started out as a predator that wanted to eat him for dessert (Dessert!? Is it peat moss flavored!?!? WHERE!?!?!)
While typing that out, it's almost as if I heard him speaking words of dialogue or something (Naw, those must be, uhhhhhh, the voices in your head, BOO! HISS! I'M A GHOST POKEMON NOW!).
Press F for Ducklett, maybe you'll be added to the next Pokemon game, or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, that also works.
I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!
I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!
All I know is re4 is intense. I don't think there's been a dull moment in the 11.5 hours I've played. As much as i love it, I'm kinda looking forward to the credits. I'm constantly on edge 😂
@Eel I have not ( that I know of) I just finished the train in the mine scene if you recall that part of the castle. I think im getting close to the boss though. Im at chapter 5-1 so the game has to be over soon. Early in the game I had tons of ammo. And now that i have this huge case ( biggest you can get), I have nothing lol. The best guns are the rifles though. I can get a head shot 9/10 times. I rather like picking people off from a distance. Makes for a less tense encounter haha
@NintendoByNature I feel like the game has held up really well. It’s still really fun playing around with the enemy AI, since they are so reactive to everything you do. I especially like blasting a group of them mid-jump and watching them fall off the edge of a bridge, or doing the classic bullet to the kneecap then knife to the face maneuver. Never gets old.
@ThanosReXXX Come one man Don't take those people too seriously. First it is just a game, second it is on the internet. You could just ignore it and move on.
It is not like the gane will sell any worse, it is Pokemon after all.
Also GameFreak does not need defending as far as I see it.
Most people (that are constructive) don't want GF to fall in the pit with EA abd Bethesda because their people on high positions lie to the public/fans and then the devs get all the hate. It is not fair!
But the devs are just working monkeus for them to use as they see fit.
This is the first time I see people getting angry before (and now after) a Pokemon release. Let's GO does not count!
@NotTelevision it really is fun blast them in certain areas..or off a ladder lol. @Eel I dont think i made it to the big boss just yet. I'll let you know tonight when I hop back on.
The funny thing about criticizing something(mentioning negative design choices), is that I actually find it more intellectually demanding. It forces you to consider how game systems/development decisions/aesthetics etc... don’t aline with others and what could’ve been changed to improve the game. It should be much harder than saying “everything works well here” or it’s “near perfect”. I actually enjoy reading well considered opinions I personally disagree with because it makes me step back and reconsider why I feel that way. That’s actually when websites based around media work best in my opinion. A respectable group of individuals discussing and debating what they love, don’t like, or maybe even hate. It’s fun to be in that dialogue, that’s probably why many of us are off the beaten path, discussing random crap in these forums.
The review bombers on Metacritic on the other hand, are just using the site just as a cat does a litter box. Leaving waste and running off so other people need to clean it up. Same with some of the trolls on YouTube, IMDB, and Reddit. It’s a shame that’s become so common now online, but... yeah... what are you gonna do?
Maintaining a slightly absurd point of view keeps me from getting too bitter about it though. Avoiding the drama for a while also helps. 😛
@Zuljaras Ah, I'm not THAT angry, more like frustrated at so much stupidity and negativity over a game, so we agree there. And I don't personally care about Pokémon, or any game for that matter, to such an extent that I'm going to whine and complain about it 24/7...
So, it's not so much me defending a company, because I couldn't care less about Game Freak if I tried, but it's more like wanting to give all these people a wake up call. Normally, you'd do that by giving them a good slap in the face, but since this is online, I can't. Probably adds to the frustration as well...
I'm simply amazed and annoyed at how these people seem to be or get so entitled, and seem to think that a company must cater to their every wish, and if all the boxes aren't ticked off, then the company has failed them, or something. Well, I can tell you from my own professional experience in sales & marketing that no single company on this Earth caters to the wishes of the general public. It's all artificial, because the companies actually create those wishes and/or needs in the first place, so they set the standard to which we hold them all by themselves.
And even criticism and/or anger is taken into account, because it's a hook, leaving people wanting for more, or better, so you can bet your behind that all of these idiots will still buy the next Pokémon game, or stay invested in it, because that's just how it works. But obviously, I see right through those tactics, which makes it both so funny and sad/frustrating at the same time.
I'd always figure that you don't specifically have to be in the business that I'm in, to understand how that trick works, but apparently, a lot of people definitely don't, and still remain in their tiny, entitled bubble, complaining all the way to the bank...
@ThanosReXXX I completely agree with you that a company should never ever create a game with the wishes from the fans! The same happened with Heroes of Might and Magic VII and it was not good!
Ubisoft basically had a poll in which the gamers decide which races will be included in the game. And they did the same with units and unit-looks. Disaster.
You are right. Game devs should do what they want and if the public does not like it … well it is bad for both parties.
I must admit that I was angry with the lies of the models and such but now I am ok with it as long as lots of people like the games. Not "like them blindly" but are genuinely pleased with them.
@Anti-Matter Another worthless comment from you that can only fuel another mini rage war here. Also, "throw their tantrum like spoiled bratz." really? You from all people had most tantrums on this site over R-rated games.
That is why the report menu has this option: "If you don't have anything useful to say, don't say anything at all." It is made just for you.
@Zuljaras If by lies over the models you mean that they were not re-made from the ground up, then I have to disappoint you, because there's no way in hell that they used (upscaled) 3DS models for this game. Like one of the few smart people in that acidic Pokémon thread explained, that simply wouldn't have worked, because it would have meant FAR more work than just building them from the ground up, for several reasons.
As for the game itself: I guess it'll do more than okay. People will still buy and play it, and the whiners will move on to other topics, or will prepare themselves for the next disappointment, when the next game in the series will eventually come out...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
@NotTelevision well said. I don't mind hearing other peoples opinions, like you. Much in the same way, it makes me reconsider what my thoughts were in the first place. What im not crazy about is the angry style of rants people go on, ya know? Like @thanosrexxx said after All, it's just a game at the end of the day. Don't get me wrong, I'm very passionate about my games and franchises that i adore, so in a sense, I can somewhat understand when people get frustrated, but I won't take it to the end of the spectrum and be an extremist. I'll just say.... Well, that blows, id rather have this or that, but at the end of the day, I'll just play the game and move on, or not play at all.
@ThanosReXXX I say that because I watched a video where they put the datamined 3D models next to the 3DS models and they were virtually the same. I guess that is fake then? If that is true then some people go to great lengths to make a fuss about it and for what, to gain viewers? That is pathetic really
