March 3rd, 2026 is the also the 9th anniversary of the original Nintendo Switch.
I feel old thinking about it 🫠.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons
Mario Maker 2 Maker ID: MNH-8JB-PKG
Switch Username: Blanc
I don't know if people still play F-Zero 99, but there's an event going on called Meteor Sparks if anyone is interested. Nintendo Life didn't seem to report on it, so just want to let others know.
@D-Star92 Well, I did have my bedroom's Christmas lights on when it was snowing, lol. Alrighty, it's just something about being snowed in and playing classic games that feels rather nice to me.
Indeed, it just feels like the focus on Switch 2's success pushes towards that, rather than actually enjoying games. I like YouTube for gaming videos, but I do wish more would actually talk about games or interesting things in gaming.
You're welcome. Nice, I wish I could go to the Nintendo store. Probably wouldn't buy games or hardware there since they're sold everywhere, would totally buy a special Peach related thing from there that I can't get anywhere else. That sounds like a really nice trip. It's the best way to do it. It helps make game time feel more rewarding. I usually will play games once my responsibilities are done.
Indeed. Though I do like how cute Detective Peach looks, I'm still using her as my Switch icon.
I'm worse, I put the difficulty down to one-star, lol. There's some fighting games I can pull the moves off. I have no issue with the moves in Tuff E Nuff, then again, I like to stick to one fighter I'm good with when playing. Having Mortal Kombat II on PC is fun, special moves is literally typing quickly on a keyboard when playing with keyboard controls. Wait, when did they release a Mega Man collection? This is news to me.
I should pick up CrossWorlds again, now that they added new characters for free to it (Ai Ai, Tangle, and Whisper). It's been difficult to stop playing Nintendo Classics, been enjoying them a lot lately. Go for it, I always replay games for fun.
@Sunsy Ah yeah I forgot to comment on your trip to New York. I remember you went to that Trolls event and got to meet Poppy. I did visit Madison Square Garden for a little bit while visiting NYC, but didn't see any hockey games. My dad is a hockey fan as well. I remember he used to have NHL '94 for the SNES, too.
Yup, still my favorite trip I've been on, that whole place felt like I walked into the world of Trolls. Cool, what did you see at MSG? I've only been twice, once when I was a teen to see WWE Raw, and the hockey game to see the New York Rangers play. That's cool. I wish I had a hockey video game, then I'm reminded... I have Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics. Though I've been thinking about Casual Sport Series: Hockey on Switch. It's only $6, but looks like a fun pick up and play hockey game.
Btw, THANK YOU for letting me post something.
Site keeps logging me out within a single minute, and I wanna complain to whoever runs it.
Way worse than it used to be.
Third try posting this.
@Mariotag Happy belated birthday. Also if you run into bugs in on this site, you might want to tell @antdickens. He usually understands this site and works on it. If you're still having that login issue.
Edit: Added a quote to post, just to make it easier for Ant to find the message.
@Sunsy That's nice, I love Christmas lights honestly. I've lately been playing Tetris and Pinball, both on the NES, on Nintendo Classics. They're nice pick-up-and-play games, I sometimes play those on my Switch OLED.
Yeah definitely, speaking of games, I'm hoping we see a Nintendo Direct within a couple months... been wanting to see what games Nintendo is making. Especially since a lot of their own games are out now, and Pokemon Winds and Waves won't be coming out until 2027. We got a Partner Showcase last month, and Indie World will be happening tomorrow. Perhaps we'd get a regular Direct on April...? But don't quote me on that since I could be wrong.
Ah yeah, I highly recommend visiting Nintendo's store. I got a couple t-shirts from there, one of which is Mario, and I still have them. I remember seeing a Princess Peach t-shirt there, as well. I never leave places like this empty-handed, lol. It was a really nice trip! The train ride was fun and relaxing, and they even had old western skits during the ride. We rode the train three times, and we would do other stuff in between, like getting souvenirs. One of my favorite trips for sure. 🚂❤️ Everyone who worked there were super nice, too! Indeed, it is more rewarding once you get things done. I sometimes watch a movie or show when I have free time, as well.
That's nice, I do see you like having your Detective Peach icon on the Switch. I always like having Mario-related icons. You may remember I had one of Mario and Luigi holding a cake when it was my birthday month! 🎂
I tend to do that too, I'd often stick with Ryu or Ken if I play any Street Fighter game, lol. Capcom started making Mega Man collections available for Switch in 2018, here's the first volume with MM1-6. There are collections for Mega Man X, Zero/ZX, Battle Network, and Star Force, as well.
Oh that's cool they added Ai Ai. Never heard of Tangle and Whisper though... were they from newer Sonic games? I'm a little behind in terms of the Sonic series. All right, once I get the chance and when the mood strikes me, I'll revisit it. Currently working on a few games.
Nice, that's awesome, I still remember you showed me that video of that Trolls area, as well. That must have been super fun. We were just visiting the gift shop they had, I think they had New York Rangers merchandise and things like that. I have that for the Wii, I remember there was a hockey mode in it. I also have Mario Sports Mix, which does have hockey. They use a coin for the puck too, lol. It's been a long time since I played either, but I remember both being pretty good.

Happy Mario Day, everybody! Thought I'd write this post to show how I got into Mario... and Nintendo as a whole. I'll also mention my favorite Mario games and how I'll celebrate the 10th of March.
My dad used to have the SNES back when I was little, and I'd sometimes see him play stuff like Super Mario World, F-Zero, and other games. Much later on, I'd briefly try out Super Mario All-Stars, but I wasn't too good at it at the time, lol. Later, I got a Nintendo 64, and that was when I really got into Nintendo's games. Loved games like Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, and even Yoshi's Story! Been huge into Super Mario ever since... and it's still my favorite Nintendo series to this day.
My favorite 2D Mario game is Super Mario World (though I also love SMB3 and Wonder), and I have quite a few favorite 3D ones... Super Mario 64, Galaxy 1 and 2, 3D World, and Odyssey. Mario Kart and Mario Party are my favorite Mario spin-off series. Tonight I'll be playing Mario Kart World's online event, and I'll be picking Mario, since it is his day, haha.

My first Mario game (and first Nintendo game in general) was Mario Kart Wii in 2016. I specifically recall picking "the Green Guy" (Luigi) only because my mom had already picked "the Red Guy" (Mario) who I wanted to play as more at first. But after playing as "the Green Guy" for the first time, he became my favorite. As much as I love Mario, Luigi is still my favorite Mario character to this day. Which is why I'm really hoping he gets more screen time in the Super Mario Galaxy Movie 🙏!
Now I'll share my favorite Mario games of each genre:
3D platformer: Super Mario Odyssey
2D platformer: Super Mario Bros. Wonder (the older ones are a little bit too difficult for me 😅)
Kart: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (we'll see how World compares to this one when I get my Switch 2 hopefully by this summer)
RPG: Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope
Edit: forgot to say this, but I've been playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on my Switch today to celebrate Mario Day.
My top 5 favorite games:
1: Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
2: Pokémon Violet
3: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
4: The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening (2019)
5: Animal Crossing New Horizons

Happy Mario Day! Following the trend of @D-Star92 and @Nep-Nep-Freak, my first Mario game was Super Mario Kart on Super NES, my family rented it when I got my Super NES for Christmas. I remember my first time, I was driving on dirt, crashing, a thing in a cloud yelling at me with an X sign (I didn't know who Lakitu was as a kid, lol). By the time Christmas day was over, I successfully drove around on the track. Later on I played Super Mario World and my favorite Mario game, Super Mario All-Stars, which I played today and beat Super Mario Bros to celebrate Mario Day.
Funnily enough, I think I had a "Nintendo Power" sweatshirt and sweatpants with Mario on it when I was little, well before I played any game with Mario in it. Maybe my earliest exposure to Mario.
Favorite Mario games
2D: Super Mario All-Stars
3D: Super Mario 64
Portable: Super Mario Bros. Deluxe
Puzzle: Yoshi Cookie (Nintendo, bring this to Nintendo Classics, you cowards!)
BTW @D-Star92, I'll try to get to your reply here. Just wanted to add to the Mario Day posts.

Just played Mario Kart World as a way to celebrate Mario Day and it's been fun. I even got 1st in a few online races! 🏆
@Nep-Nep-Freak Oh nice, I do like Luigi as well! I like playing as him sometimes. I used to play Mario Kart Wii quite a bit back when it came out, especially its online. I think it's a good game... but I don't really like that thunder cloud item, haha. That's cool, it's been a while since I played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe... I should come back to it sometime. I love a lot of courses in the base game and its DLC.
@Sunsy That's awesome, Super Mario All-Stars was my first Mario game... and first game in general, actually. I actually played and finished the All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 1 right on the 40th anniversary last year! (That can be a Mario Day as well... and so can my birthday, haha!) I didn't play Super Mario Kart until later, but I definitely played it as a kid on the SNES. Back then, I didn't play the Special Cup since I just played in 50cc. Wouldn't be until much later when I finally unlocked it.
I never played Yoshi Cookie, but I do love Panel de Pon. I used to play Tetris Attack a lot as a kid, it was that Yoshi's Island reskin of that game. No rush on writing back to that reply of mine, take your time.

@D-Star92 That's a good pick for first game. Super Mario Kart was my first Mario game, but my first game was Home Alone on SNES. Yup, a movie tie-in. It wasn't a bad game though. Home Alone 2 however, took me 16 years to figure out how to beat level 1... all thanks to YouTube, lol. I always stuck to 50cc, 100cc always scared me at how good the CPU was, lol. Weirdly enough I had Special Cup unlocked so I think someone else unlocked it. Not sure if it was my brother or my dad.
Yoshi's Cookie is much different. It's basically match the cookies and clear the level type of puzzle game. You move cookies around matching them, and cookies come in as you play. There's 100 levels (10 rounds, 10 levels each), I beat them a few years back, I still have my copy of it and a GBA SP.
Here's some gameplay. Yes, Mario is in it, and IIRC, Vs. mode had Peach and Bowser as playable characters, and could be played single player against CPU.
