The weekend has arrived, and it's brought with it more summer weather and all manner of new games to play. Team Nintendo Life, as always, has an eclectic selection of games both fresh and retro on their agenda for the next couple of days, but what's on yours? It’s currently pretty glorious outside here in the UK, but this weekend will see me going from one delight to another from the stuffy, lonely heat of indoors. I find myself in the middle of several different games at the moment, squeezing ever closer towards that Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze 100%, exploring the wonders of the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle Donkey Kong Adventure DLC, and working my way through the adventure mode of Runbow.

Somehow, I’ll be trying to manage all these different tasks alongside a need to play some Fortnite, watching the World Cup and British F1 Grand Prix, and all those boring things like housework and acknowledging my loved ones.

This weekend will be about partying for me (I wish...) Anyway, there will be some competitive multiplayer going on in the form of Runbow and Ultra Space Battle Brawl. I don’t think I can stress enough how much I love Runbow, ever since I picked it up on a whim on the Wii U it quickly became a favourite for its frantic, varied game modes and the hilarious banter it generated. I was elated when I found out it was coming to Switch.

While the single-player platforming might not be as tight or fast as other titles, the amount of content available along with a really neat core mechanic will keep it on the party game rotation. Also, Ultra Space Battle Brawl is simple but ridiculously fun. Combining the pace and agility of a fighting game with a version of pong that’s drunk way too many energy drinks, USBB has a balance of accessibility and skill that I really like, and many a bracket will be formed (and friendships ended) whenever possible.

Went back to Skyrim, and I’m edging quite close to doing everything so I’ll probably put a few hours into that. Also just made it into the first division in FIFA 18 for the first time ever so I’ll no doubt play a few matches. Oh, and I’m stuck on Slippery Slope on Crash Bandicoot so I’ll probably give that a try and then rage quit in absolute disgust. I should really give Mario Tennis Aces a try too, seeing as it’s just sitting there in its plastic wrapping feeling sorry for itself. So. Many. Games!

I really fancy taking to the skies and testing my aerobatic skills this weekend, so I'll be swooping and loop-the-looping in the world of Air Mail. As someone who loves the Pilotwings series and is partial to some airborne adventures (hello, Skies of Fury DX), I'm looking forward to putting it through its aerial paces.

It's going to be another busy weekend in the Reseigh-Lincoln household, but hopefully, I'll find the time for a match or ten in, you guessed it, Paladins. Honestly, at this stage, I'm just obsessed. Someone needs to delete this game from my Switch before it consumes we whole.

So last week I purchased Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, but then was too busy to actually play the thing. I still haven’t but hopefully, I can get started this weekend if I can find a good chunk of free time. In other news I’ve been enjoying the Neo Geo Pocket-inspired Pocket Rumble and so will continue with a few fights of that in-between other things.

Currently, I favour going with a random pick as each character feels unique and is fun to play as, and the simple controls mean I don't have to memorise eight movesets. I have lost quite a few fights as Keiko however, so that may be my focus as I look to improve my fighting ability with her and her killer kitty.

After a brief stint in ARMS representing team Min-Min, I intend to spend a full three hours with the Octopath Traveler Prologue Demo. In case you’re wondering, I stopped playing Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of DANA after discovering the upcoming 1.4 patch will bring in Japanese voice overs. I do not look forward to having two incredible JRPGs to play at the exact same time but can’t complain about these current times of plenty the Switch is living in. I do however have an itch I am unable to scratch… anyone else going absolutely bonkers with the lack of an official release date for Dark Souls: Remastered?

In Mike Piazza’s Strike Zone, you don’t hit normal home runs; you hit gargantuan, rocket-powered, stratospheric home runs! My wife and I have recorded a 978 footer in the Home Run Derby mode, and this weekend we’re determined to keep at it and learn if it’s possible to surpass 1,000 feet. That’s top priority in our lives. If we need breaks from crushing a baseball out to deep center, we’re going to, um... crush more baseballs out to deep center with the many other Nintendo 64 baseball games we own. We’re also on a Pokémon Puzzle League and Mario Golf kick, so those two will surely be in the rotation as well.
