A few years back, Renegade Kid—now Atooi—started a project for 3DS that was initially meant to be a demake of Moon, but it quickly spiraled into something more original. The brief, delightful metroidvania Xeodrifter was born, utilizing the layer hopping of Mutant Mudds in a new type of game. Since then, the game has been ported to numerous platforms, and it seems now that another one is due to join that list soon.
Atooi recently posted a Tweet showing Xeodrifter running on Switch hardware, with a message promising “more intel soon.” Hopefully we’ll be seeing this one on the Switch sooner rather than later; it’ll make a nice companion piece to the recently released Mutant Mudds Collection on the eShop. This is likely one of the three games the company was referring to for a 2018 release, but that still leaves another two which are still under wraps. Perhaps Treasurenauts will finally finish development this year?
What do you think? Will you be getting this for Switch? What other games would you like to see from Atooi? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Eh, already got it on 3DS, and the 3D effect in the 2D Renegade Kid games is amazing. This game is fun but a bit too short. Now, I wonder if Treasurenauts will ever release? Feels like it was 2014 when I was looking forward to that game...
@Giygas_95 It'll have been four years next month!
@SwitchVogel Dang. Unfortunately I've kind of lost interest...I'm more into adventure and shooter type games lately.
I might be into a sequel, but I already have this for 3DS. No reason to double dip.
If it was a physical yes. Digital no.
Far too short to buy again. If they fleshed it out into an actual real game, I'd be interested.
Pretty bland game, played it on 3DS. Didn't like how they kept rehashing bosses on such a short experience.
I liked this on the 3DS but I wouldn't buy it again for the Switch. I hope this is either a new game or a more beefed out version of the first game.
What I'd really like though would be for the other half of the former Renegade Kid to not be dormant. Europe still hasn't gotten either Moon Chronicles or Dementium 2 Remastered. Both could be good fits for Switch eShop. It's a shame too because I've liked what Renegade Kid has been doing for years now. Dementium Remastered was great on the 3DS too.
Loved this and would be all over a sequel but I don't think I'll double-dip this time, feel like I've played it to death.
Was really happy for this news since the game never showed up on the European eShop (...am I wrong about this?). Will surely pick it up.
@Shiryu Not on Wii U I think. I got it on PS4 instead after waiting for ages...
@Octane I meant 3DS eShop.
@Shiryu no, the game certainly is on the EU 3DS eShop, as I have bought it and downloaded it to my Italian 3DS.
@clvr Shame I missed it, oh well... time to play it on the big TV screen this time around.
Shame the other guy from former Renegade Kid is doing nothing.
They never released Moon Chronicles in Europe and Dementium 2 Remastered for 3DS got never released anywhere.
Fun fact, Brian Altano did the soundtrack for the end credits
Infitizmo is the other company that owns all the 3D games rights that Renegade Kid made, but has done nothing in the past 1.5 years while Jools is pushing out 2D games and ports of their older releases constantly.
I thought the length of the game was perfect! Any longer I would have gotten bored. Cheap and bite sized, and really excellent. It's my favourite Renegade Kid game by a good margin.
Although I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my 3DS play through (100%)!) I will not be getting it on Switch unless they add more content. I don;t mean an extra character or something... I mean extra worlds to visit. It was so short and has so much potential to be something even bigger than it is. If this happens I will definitely buy it again. Otherwise it can be beaten very quickly and it is a bit easy; I felt like I was just going through the motions playing it. Like I said: very enjoyable but just short.
Extra worlds please!!
Fun little Metroid diversion game if anyone's never played it. One time was enough for me though.
I never finished it on 3DS so I'll be getting it for sure.
I can't imagine that one of the other games isn't Chicken Wiggle. It did so poorly on the 3DS specifically because of the audience shift to the Switch. Since porting is much lower cost than development, it seems like the obvious way to make some of their money back.
Personally though I'd love to see Moon on the Switch, which I've always heard about and never played.
@Shiryu even if on the short side, it’s a good game, hope you enjoy it!
@clvr Wonder if it will come with any extras...
@Shiryu well, I’m not one to double dip so I won’t in any case, though I think if he wants people to buy it for a second time he needs to put in some extra content.
Even for those who have never played it and are on the fence, some bonus levels or something like that would be nice.
I for one hope he’ll make some sequel of sorts in the future, cause the game left me feeling like something was missing, that it hadn’t realized all of its potential.
For example, the weapon customization system is genius, but it’s not implemented that well.
It's going to be a hard pass from me. I played Xeodriter on the 3ds and bought it when it was 50% off. It's mediocre at best like a lot of Jools' games. I find Steamworld Dig to be a far better Metroidvania game
Im still waitng on Treasurenauts was really looking forward to that title on the new 3DS XL which I hope it still gets a release on the 3DS.
don't own it on 3ds yet as i don't know if it is any good
Aaaaand, Boom. Jools Watsham is gauging interest in a Chicken Wiggle release on Switch. Maybe it's not a done deal but it looks likely, and with HD graphics to boot.
I rarely do it...almost never....but I will double dip for this one! It is honestly an awesome game. Would be perfect if a new world was added or something.
