Nintendo UK will be giving a select few fans the chance to go hands-on with the Switch this month via a series of special events around the country.
Not only will these lucky individuals get the chance to lovingly fondle Nintendo's new home system, they'll also be able to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, ARMS, 1-2-Switch and Snipperclips.
The events take place in Birmingham, Manchester and London, with four two-hour sessions across three days. As you can imagine, space is limited, so applications are limited to two per-person. If you're interested in attending then head over to the Eventbrite pages linked in the city headers below - pick your desired location and get your tickets.

Oh my god, England only. No waaaaaay.
I am from UK but nowhere near those zones. Never mind
I managed to get a ticket.
booked for birmingham, no point going to one in london since its so near to the switch launch
@NintySnesMan These events aren't near me either, I live in the Southampton/Portsmouth area... London is my closest, a four hour train journey.
It's interesting how they decide where to locate these events, my guess is they go to the biggest population centres. However, these are also likely to be the places most people already know whether they'll buy or not. Maybe a few smaller events in smaller areas would be more beneficial?
Yup going as well. Already preordered but these are generally good fun
I wonder if they'll do something in Italy as well, maybe Milan...
Yeah, thought so.
That's cool, and I hope everyone will enjoy it there. If Nintendo holds a hands on demonstration in the States then I'll purposely pass on it. Don't want to spoil the experience. I'll wait for the Switch I purchased.
Woohoo! As soon as I saw this article 2 mins after it was published, I immediately booked 2 tickets! going to the London one on Saturday 26th February 12:30 - 2:30
Actually managed to get a ticket for this
Really excited now; couldn't preorder due to a lack of funds (and LKD giving me false hope 😂) so this is perfect!
@dantesolablood
Yep nothing ever happens in Cornwall either. All we get each year is thousands of tourists. I wouldn't change where I live though it's nice here
The London events are one week before launch. I'm sure I can wait until launch and use the money saved on the day out for better things, like a pro controller or another game
for real though this is what they should have done instead of the raffle on the weekend after the event
@NintySnesMan The places I used to have to travel to for Pokémon/Yu-Gi-Oh events. I think I spent more time on Birmingham ring roads than I did at the events!
Still have the event pokémon though.
@Dantesolablood
Lol yeah Birmingham ring roads. Been stuck there many times visiting family in Yorkshire. Constant roadworks all year round NIGHTMARE
Got tickets for the Friday evening. Still probably going to cancel my pre-order though. More likely to pick one up closer to Christmas.
You mean "England-only events announced"...
So decided to try and go after all, the thought of checking out Splatoon and Arms is to exciting to pass up! Tickets secured, see you there
Manchester booked! Now to try and convince the Mrs.
Get England only events. I prefer to call ourselves Britain than UK. It never feels United to me
Got my tickets or the London event! Yes!! Can't wait to give it a test run.
Yehhhhh got one!!
Got one to try it out in Birmingham
... You're saying the event comes here to London roughly a week before the console comes out?
Yeah... I've waited all this time - one more week is nothing.
In b4 SLIGEACH_EIRE says something. Because once he shows up, the party dies.
Booked for Birmingham event. I actually want to try one before I buy because I like the Wii U so much that it will take a lot to replace it.
Just booked 2 tickets for London; cannot wait to try it out!
@onex
Not sure what u mean mate. Has something happened
As someone that has played the Switch and these games (except Zelda and 1-2) at PAX, I say have fun to all that receive them tickets!
Taking my girlfriend for Friday afternoon in London. 2 hour train journey and I'm getting the console a week later but I don't care. I just want to play 😅 It's not just the system either. Arms and Splatoon 2 will be a lot more than a week away so it's also a preview for those
Oh my God, there's like only one slot available and I managed to book it (like the earliest time and day)
Got 2 tickets for friday! ^_^
Got two tickets for Sunday!
Have Nintendo not heard about Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?
me and my bro are going to the one in Birmingham and im taking my son to the one in London cant wait
Maybe I'm just too old, but it's already pre-ordered so I'll just wait.
Manchester with my son can't wait! not pre-ordering as I want to wait until there is more games that I want (getting zelda on wii u) however after playing it that may well change
got the sunday ticket for the london event! i cannot wait for it
Should say england, not UK
@Stubi Lol, I think it's been almost a decade since I last went to London by train. It's quite possible you have to make as many changes now.... plus I think I left from Southampton?
@DanteSolablood @Stubi There's a couple of local lads on this site? No way
I live near Barnham, but visit Portsmouth multiple of times a week and will be living there from September. For the record from Barnham, it'll take about 2 hours for me to get to the destination.
When we all get the Switch, we need to meet up 😂
Seeing as the hardware launch is only 28 days away anyway, it's not a big deal that I don't get to attend one of these.
Against something like the Pokémon Festival UK, that was an experience that you can't just buy off a shelf!
Very disappointing. Why the pre-booking 2 hour session approach? These aren't press events, they shouldn't be private events. Put them in shopping malls so people walking by can see and watch it. I remember queueing for both Wii and DS demos. I know this way you can play more games but they only need say 4 units set up in the different play options and let you try each one out. Are they worried about people running off with the consoles or controllers?! Wii was simple. They had a TV and people handing you the remotes and you could play Wii Sports (one sport of your choice I believe) and people could watch you do it which was a fantastic way of selling it to people who had no idea what it was!
They need to get out there and let people try this thing. They had better get shop units set up fairly quick after launch. And the locations are poor too. Yes, the 3 big cities but nothing for anything outside of England? Nothing further north than Manchester? I feel so bad for anyone in Newcastle or Scotland unable to get down there to play it. Or anyone east of Birmingham or anyone in the south that isn't London. I'm in Bristol, so of course there wouldn't be anything in the South West. Not even in Cardiff! For shame, Nintendo, for shame.
It's a bloody good job it's out in a month and no more that's what I can say.
They'll never come to Northern Ireland sadly, but well done to anyone who got tickets, have fun!
London is sold out, Birmingham has a few tickets left in Friday, Manchester has one time slot left to fill. Act now people.
I can wait just another couple of weeks. I don't want to spoil that moment when you open a new console for the first time.....
My girlfriend surprised me with two London tickets! What a great way to end an awful day.
Booked Birmingham for Friday the 10th. Let's hope I can get cheap train tickets it's a 2 + hour journey
Got mine booked for Friday 17th in Manchester
I booked my ticket as soon as I saw this article, so thanks to Nintendo Life.
I have my previous order for launch already and can't wait to play some of the games that aren't due out to well after launch (like ARMS).
Let's hope that Nintendo is giving away some collectible freebies at these events!
