New XLBest Buy

Following its launch on 13th February, the New Nintendo 3DS XL is heading into that post-hype period of sales, when Nintendo's focus shifts away from exciting dedicated fans to winning over those on the fence. The April arrival of system-exclusive Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will play a major role, while Nintendo will also be focused on promoting the new hardware's features.

The C-Stick and amiibo support are clearly at the core of Nintendo of America's marketing plans, based on an upcoming promotion with Best Buy this weekend. A number of the retailer's stores will offer hands-on opportunities with the New 3DS XL, using amiibo in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (share your amiibo stock jokes in the comments section), a chance to play two big releases and pick up a Mii StreetPass from Eiji Aonuma and others. The press release blurb is below.

Stop by select Best Buy stores from 1 to 4 p.m. (local time) on March 7 to try out the New Nintendo 3DS XL system with amiibo figures in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS. You can also play the Nintendo 3DS games everyone is talking about: The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Bring your Nintendo 3DS system with you for the chance to get a special Mii character of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D producer, Eiji Aonuma, and collect Mii characters to fill puzzle panels in Puzzle Swap and help out in StreetPass Mii Plaza games.

Will any of you be heading out to your local Best Buy for this on Saturday? You can check whether your store is taking part here.
